2017 GeneEvolve: a fast and memory efficient forward-time simulator of realistic whole-genome sequence and SNP data
abstract
MOTIVATION: Computer simulations are excellent tools for understanding the evolutionary and genetic consequences of complex processes that cannot be analytically predicted and for creating realistic genetic data. There are many software packages that simulate genetic data, but they are typically not fast or memory efficient enough to simulate realistic, individual-level genome-wide SNP/sequence data. RESULTS: GeneEvolve is a user-friendly and efficient population genetics simulator that handles complex evolutionary and life history scenarios and generates individual-level phenotypes and realistic whole-genome sequence or SNP data. GeneEvolve runs forward-in-time, which allows it to provide a wide range of scenarios for mating systems, selection, population size and structure, migration, recombination and environmental effects. The software is designed to use as input data from real or previously simulated phased haplotypes, allowing it to mimic very closely the properties of real genomic data. AVAILABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION: GeneEvolve is freely available at https://github.com/rtahmasbi/GeneEvolve CONTACT: [email protected] information: Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online.

2014 Modeling and Forecasting the Urban Volume Using Stochastic Differential Equations
abstract
Traffic flow prediction can be used for the management of traffic control systems and can be applied toward improving traffic light split times at intersections. In this paper, we developed a methodology for the short-term prediction of traffic flow using the stochastic differential equation (SDE). Since the current volume depends on the previous short-term volume and time, we used the Hull-White model. With the proposed method, a flexible short-term prediction of volume is suggested. It is possible to simulate traffic conditions easily and also detect incidents precisely. This method is applied in Tehran's highways, and the obtained results are compared with previous artworks. Our results offered a better fit to the traffic volume.

2008 Change Point Detection in GARCH Models for Voice Activity Detection
abstract
This paper presents a robust algorithm for voice activity detection (VAD) based on change point detection in a generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (GARCH) process. GARCH models are new statistical methods that are used especially in economic time series and are a popular choice to model speech signals and their changing variances. Change point detection is also important in economic sciences. In this paper, no distinct probability functions are assumed for speech and noise distributions. Also, to detect speech/nonspeech intervals, no likelihood ratio test (LRT) is employed. For testing parameter constancy in GARCH models, the algorithm of the Cramer-von Mises (CVM) test is described. This test is a nonparametric test and is based on the empirical quantiles. We show that VAD is related to the parameter constancy test in GARCH process, and we illustrate several examples.

2007 A Soft Voice Activity Detection Using GARCH Filter and Variance Gamma Distribution
abstract
This paper presents a robust algorithm for a voice activity detector (VAD) based on generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (GARCH) filter, variance gamma distribution (VGD), and adaptive threshold function. GARCH models are new statistical methods that are used especially in economic time series. There is a consensus that speech signals exhibit variances that change through time. GARCH models are a popular choice to model these changing variances. A speech signal is assumed to have a VGD because the VGD has heavier tails than the Gaussian distribution (GD). The distribution of noise signal is assumed to be Gaussian. In proposed method, heteroscedasticity will be modeled by GARCH, and then the parameters of the distributions will be estimated recursively. Finally, hard detection is the result of comparing a multiple observation likelihood ratio test (MOLRT) with an adaptive threshold function. The simulation results show that the proposed VAD is able to operate down to -5 dB and in nonstationary environments
