2021 Siamese Regression Tracking With Reinforced Template Updating
abstract
Siamese networks are prevalent in visual tracking because of the efficient localization. The networks take both a search patch and a target template as inputs where the target template is usually from the initial frame. Meanwhile, Siamese trackers do not update network parameters online for real-time efficiency. The fixed target template and CNN parameters make Siamese trackers not effective to capture target appearance variations. In this paper, we propose a template updating method via reinforcement learning for Siamese regression trackers. We collect a series of templates and learn to maintain them based on an actor-critic framework. Among this framework, the actor network that is trained by deep reinforcement learning effectively updates the templates based on the tracking result on each frame. Besides the target template, we update the Siamese regression tracker online to adapt to target appearance variations. The experimental results on the standard benchmarks show the effectiveness of both template and network updating. The proposed tracker SiamRTU performs favorably against state-of-the-art approaches.

2020 Siamese Attentive Graph Tracking
abstract
Recently, deep Siamese matching networks have attracted increasing attention for visual tracking. Despite the demonstrated successes, Siamese trackers do not take full advantage of the structural information of target objects. They tend to drift in the presence of non-rigid deformation or partly occlusion. In this paper, we propose to advance Siamese trackers with graph convolutional networks, which pay more attention to the structural layout of target objects, to learn features robust to large appearance changes over time. Specifically, we divide the target object into several sub-parts and design an attentive graph convolutional network to model the relationship between parts. We incrementally update the attention coefficients of the graph with the attention scheme at each frame in an end-to-end manner. To further improve localization accuracy, we propose a learnable cascade regression algorithm based on deep reinforcement learning to refine the predicted bounding boxes. Extensive experiments on seven challenging benchmark datasets, i.e., OTB-100, TC-128, VOT2018, VOT2019, TrackingNet, GOT-10k and LaSOT, demonstrate that the proposed tracking method performs favorably against state-of-the-art approaches.

2019 Buying or Browsing?: Predicting Real-time Purchasing Intent using Attention-based Deep Network with Multiple Behavior
abstract
E-commerce platforms are becoming a primary place for people to find, compare and ultimately purchase products. One of the fundamental questions that arises in e-commerce is to predict user purchasing intent, which is an important part of user understanding and allows for providing better services for both sellers and customers. However, previous work cannot predict real-time user purchasing intent with a high accuracy, limited by the representation capability of traditional browse-interactive behavior adopted. In this paper, we propose a novel end-to-end deep network, named Deep Intent Prediction Network (DIPN), to predict real-time user purchasing intent. In particular, besides the traditional browse-interactive behavior, we collect a new type of user interactive behavior, called touch-interactive behavior, which can capture more fine-grained real-time user features. To combine these behavior effectively, we propose a hierarchical attention mechanism, where the bottom attention layer focuses on the inner parts of each behavior sequence while the top attention layer learns the inter-view relations between different behavior sequences. In addition, we propose to train DIPN with multi-task learning to better distinguish user behavior patterns. In the experiments conducted on a large-scale industrial dataset, DIPN significantly outperforms the baseline solutions. Notably, DIPN gains about 18.96% improvement on AUC than the state-of-the-art solution only using traditional browse-interactive behavior sequences. Moreover, DIPN has been deployed in the operational system of Taobao. Online A/B testing results with more than 12.9 millions of users reveal the potential of knowing users' real-time purchasing intent.

2018 Multi-Source Pointer Network for Product Title Summarization
abstract
In this paper, we study the product title summarization problem in E-commerce applications for display on mobile devices. Comparing with conventional sentence summarization, product title summarization has some extra and essential constraints. For example, factual errors or loss of the key information are intolerable for E-commerce applications. Therefore, we abstract two more constraints for product title summarization: (i) do not introduce irrelevant information; (ii) retain the key information (e.g., brand name and commodity name). To address these issues, we propose a novel multi-source pointer network by adding a new knowledge encoder for pointer network. The first constraint is handled by pointer mechanism. For the second constraint, we restore the key information by copying words from the knowledge encoder with the help of the soft gating mechanism. For evaluation, we build a large collection of real-world product titles along with human-written short titles. Experimental results demonstrate that our model significantly outperforms the other baselines. Finally, online deployment of our proposed model has yielded a significant business impact, as measured by the click-through rate.

2018 Modeling Consumer Buying Decision for Recommendation Based on Multi-Task Deep Learning
abstract
Although marketing researchers and sociologists have recognized the importance of buying decision process and its significant influence on consumer's purchasing behaviors, existing recommender systems do not explicitly model the consumer buying decision process or capture the sequential regularities of what happens before and after each purchase. In this paper, we try to bridge the gap and improve recommendation systems by explicitly modeling consumer buying decision process and corresponding stages. In particular, we propose a multi-task learning model with long short-term memory networks (LSTM) to learn consumer buying decision process. It maps items, users, product categories, and the behavior sequences into real valued vectors, with which the probability of purchasing a product can be estimated. In this way, the model can capture user intentions and preferences, predicts the conversion rate of each candidate product, and makes recommendations accordingly. Experiments on real world data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
