| 2010 | Next Mobile Network ArchitectureabstractThis paper proposes a general architecture for the Next Mobile Network (NMN). NMN is composed of four planes: Advanced Mobile Access (AMA), Optical Mobile Network (OMN), Virtual Mobile Network (VMN), and Service Delivery Network (SDN). AMA, OMN, and VMN are revolutionary additions while SDN is an enhancement of that found in the All-IP network as SDP (Service Delivery Platform). NMN aims at offering sophisticated services along three service directions, "Multimedia", "Ubiquitous", and "Global". This paper describes the research being done on key NMN component technologies, e.g., advanced radio transmission, mobility management over the optical and virtual network, and ubiquitous service management. | 1993 | Channel reassignment algorithm in multiple carrier hopping TDMA systemsabstractChannel reassignment schemes used in multiple carrier hopping time-division multiple access (MCH-TDMA) systems are described. In MCH-TDMA systems channels are identified by two degrees of freedom: carrier frequency and time slot. The overlap-chain concept in which related calls from the same transmitting station to the same receiving station are grouped into contiguous streams is introduced. Using this concept, one channel can always be assigned to a call blocked due to inefficient assignment by reassigning channels to calls in progress within two or three time slots. A channel reassignment algorithm called OVERLAP-CHAINING which provides efficient means to reassign channels to calls in progress is proposed.> Masami Yabusaki |

| 1993 | Channel reassignment in TDMA systems: single-carrier transmitting, multiple-carrier hop receivingabstractChannel reassignment schemes are described for a time-division multiple-access (TDMA) system where a single carrier is available on the transmitting side (Tx-SC), while multiple-carriers are hopped on the receiving side (Rx-MCH). The Tx-SC/Rs-MCH TDMA system configuration is presented as being logically equivalent to a three-stage switching network. This equivalence means that rearrangement algorithms for three-stage switching networks proposed to date can be applied to channel reassignment in the Tx-SC/Rx-MCH system. The maximum number of channels that must be reassigned is shown to be M-1, where M is the number of simultaneous carriers.> Masami Yabusaki |

| 1990 | Approximate performance analysis and simulation study for variable-channel-per-burst SS-TDMAabstractAn analysis is presented of the traffic performance of a variable-channel-per-burst (VCPB) satellite-switched time-division multiple access (SS-TDMA) that dynamically reconfigures traffic bursts. An SS-TDMA system with an onboard baseband switch is used as the VCPB application system. Bursts are assigned to each earth station one-by-one. Idle channels of other bursts are transferred to a burst having an insufficient number of idle channels by reconfiguration on a call-by-call basis. The VCPB is suited to SS-TDMA systems with relatively few earth stations. VCPB traffic performance depends on the reconfiguration strategy. The effects on traffic performance caused by reallotting idle channels to all bursts in every reconfiguration are described. An approximate formula for the reconfiguration probability from the loss probability of fixed-channel-per-burst TDMA weighted by the binomial distribution for the number of channels in each burst is derived.> Masami Yabusaki, Shigefusa Suzuki |
