| 2025 | ONFOODS: A Substitute Recommendation System in Food RecipesabstractAbstract Food waste is a serious problem in modern society. A specific aspect of food waste concerns meat consumption in gastronomy, where typically only prime cuts of meat are used in the kitchen. To facilitate the usage of all parts of animals and thereby reducing food waste, we present Onfoods , a system that recommends alternative meat cuts in recipes and integrates inventory data to help with the creation of menus. Onfoods uses an ontology and a knowledge graph to model recipes, meat cuts and the relationships between the two, similarity measures to find candidates for alternative meat cuts, and inventory data to track the availability of different meat cuts. An intuitive user interface allows the user on one hand to update the knowledge graph and inventory data, and on the other hand to navigate through recipes and choose alternative meat cuts. | 2024 | Exploring the Synergy of Digitalization and IoT: A Literature Review on Energy Monitoring for SMEsabstractThe objective of the European and global industrial market for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is to be sustainable, intelligent, and interconnected in a competitive global market while also addressing climate change. To achieve this goal, the adoption and integration of digital tools have become crucial factors. These technologies can improve efficiency and reduce costs. However, several challenges and barriers have also been identified, including the need for standardization, interoperability, and cybersecurity measures. In light of this, a comprehensive search of academic databases and grey literature was conducted, resulting in the identification of 1010 relevant papers that were analyzed for their insights on the use of digitalization and IoT for SMEs. The findings have important implications for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers working in the field of data management and SMEs. Marwa Ben Ali, Erwin Rauch, Dominik T. Matt |

| 2023 | Gripper Design Optimization for Effective Grasping of Diverse Object GeometriesabstractDespite many recent advances both in terms of analytical and learning based approaches, grasping remains a challenging open problem in robotic manipulation. The major-ity of the research focuses on enhancing grasping capabilities by designing strategies characterized by different degree of intelligence for a given gripper. Our proposed approach to effective grasping is different: instead of optimizing a policy given a single gripper geometry, we search for the tool in order to grasp a given set of objects. To do so, we first introduce a parametrization for the geometry of two common families of grippers: two-fingers parallel-jaw and suction-cup vacuum. Then we present a novel grasp score discussing its properties for gripper design. Thanks to these we can formally cast the gripper design as an optimization problem, tackled with existing global optimization frameworks. Numerical findings on a set of industrial objects show effectiveness of our proposed approach. Marco Todescato, Andrea Giusti 0004, Dominik T. Matt |

| 2017 | Mobile Application for Collaborative Scheduling and Monitoring of Construction Works According to Lean Construction MethodsabstractIn the construction industry, an efficient management of information flow as well as enhanced communication and collaboration among stakeholders are crucial to improve construction process management. Construction processes are still managed by means of paper-based documents, e.g. scheduling. To ensure on-time delivery of projects and automate construction management, especially scheduling and monitoring process, a mobile application based on Lean Construction methods is being developed within the ACCPET project. This application aims to improve productivity, collaboration between project participants as well to provide tailored information to the user. To reach this goal the following methods and technologies have been adopted: Location-based Management System, Last Planner System, Tiered Structure methodology and Building Information Modelling. This paper describes concept, framework and functionalities of this mobile application. Julia Ratajczak, Christoph Paul Schimanski, Carmen Marcher, Michael Riedl, Dominik T. Matt |
