2026 Identity-Aware Vision-Language Model for Explainable Face Forgery Detection
abstract
Recent advances in generative artificial intelligence have enabled the creation of highly realistic image forgeries, raising significant concerns about digital media authenticity. While existing detection methods demonstrate promising results on benchmark datasets, they face critical limitations in real-world applications. First, existing detectors typically fail to detect semantic inconsistencies with the person’s identity, such as implausible behaviors or incompatible environmental contexts in given images. Second, these methods rely heavily on low-level visual cues, making them effective for known forgeries but less reliable against new or unseen manipulation techniques. To address these challenges, we present a novel personalized vision-language model (VLM) that integrates low-level visual artifact analysis and high-level semantic inconsistency detection. Unlike previous VLM-based methods, our approach avoids resource-intensive supervised fine-tuning that often struggles to preserve distinct identity characteristics. Instead, we employ a lightweight method that dynamically encodes identity-specific information into specialized identifier tokens. This design enables the model to learn distinct identity characteristics while maintaining robust generalization capabilities. We further enhance detection capabilities through a lightweight detection adapter that extracts fine-grained information from shallow features of the vision encoder, preserving critical low-level evidence. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves 94.25% accuracy and 94.08% F1 score, outperforming both traditional forgery detectors and general VLMs while requiring only 10 extra tokens.

2025 ReinAD: Towards Real-world Industrial Anomaly Detection with a Comprehensive Contrastive Dataset
abstract
Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in industrial anomaly detection (IAD) thanks to existing anomaly detection datasets. However, the large performance gap between these benchmarks and real industrial practice reveals critical limitations in existing datasets. We argue that the mismatch between current datasets and real industrial scenarios becomes the primary barrier to practical IAD deployment. To this end, we propose ReinAD dataset, a comprehensive contrastive dataset towards Real-world industrial Anomaly Detection. Our dataset prioritizes three critical real-world requirements: 1) Contrast-based anomaly definition that is essential for industrial practice, 2) Fine-grained unaligned image pairs reflecting real inspections, and 3) Large-scale data from active production lines spanning multiple industrial categories. Based on our dataset, we introduce the ReinADNet. It takes both normal reference and test images as inputs, achieving anomaly detection through normal-anomaly comparison. To address the fine-grained and unaligned properties of real industrial scenes, our method integrates pyramidal similarity aggregation for comprehensive anomaly characterization and global-local feature fusion for spatial misalignment tolerance. Our method outperforms all baselines on the ReinAD dataset (e.g., 64.5% v.s. 59.5% in 1-shot image-level AP) under all settings. Extensive experiments across several datasets demonstrate our dataset's challenging nature and our method's superior generalization. This work provides a solid foundation for practical industrial anomaly detection. Dataset and code are available at https://tocmac.github.io/ReinAD.

2024 Towards Effective Usage of Human-Centric Priors in Diffusion Models for Text-based Human Image Generation
abstract
Vanilla text-to-image diffusion models struggle with generating accurate human images, commonly resulting in imperfect anatomies such as unnatural postures or disproportionate limbs. Existing methods address this issue mostly by fine-tuning the model with extra images or adding additional control - human-centric priors such as pose or depth maps - during the image generation phase. This paper explores the integration of these human-centric priors directly into the model fine-tuning stage, essentially eliminating the need for extra conditions at the inference stage. We realize this idea by proposing a human-centric alignment loss to strengthen human-related information from the textual prompts within the cross-attention maps. To ensure semantic detail richness and human structural accuracy during fine-tuning, we introduce scale-aware and step-wise constraints within the diffusion process, according to an indepth analysis of the cross-attention layer. Extensive experiments show that our method largely improves over state-of-the-art text-to-image models to synthesize high-quality human images based on user-written prompts. 2024 ReToMe-VA: Recursive Token Merging for Video Diffusion-based Unrestricted Adversarial Attack
abstract
Recent diffusion-based unrestricted attacks generate imperceptible adversarial examples with high transferability compared to previous unrestricted attacks and restricted attacks. However, existing works on diffusion-based unrestricted attacks are mostly focused on images yet are seldom explored in videos. In this paper, we propose the Recursive Token Merging for Video Diffusion-based Unrestricted Adversarial Attack (ReToMe-VA), which is the first framework to generate imperceptible adversarial video clips with higher transferability. Specifically, to achieve spatial imperceptibility, ReToMe-VA adopts a Timestep-wise Adversarial Latent Optimization (TALO) strategy that optimizes perturbations in diffusion models' latent space at each denoising step. TALO offers iterative and accurate updates to generate more powerful adversarial frames. TALO can further reduce memory consumption in gradient computation. Moreover, to achieve temporal imperceptibility, ReToMe-VA introduces a Recursive Token Merging (ReToMe) mechanism by matching and merging tokens across video frames in the self-attention module, resulting in temporally consistent adversarial videos. ReToMe concurrently facilitates inter-frame interactions into the attack process, inducing more diverse and robust gradients, thus leading to better adversarial transferability. Extensive experiments demonstrate the efficacy of ReToMe-VA, particularly in surpassing state-of-the-art attacks in adversarial transferability by more than 14.16% on average.

2024 EGGen: Image Generation with Multi-entity Prior Learning through Entity Guidance
abstract
Diffusion models have shown remarkable prowess in text-to-image synthesis and editing, yet they often stumble when tasked with interpreting complex prompts that describe multiple entities with specific attributes and interrelations. The generated images often contain inconsistent multi-entity representation (IMR), reflected as inaccurate presentations of the multiple entities and their attributes. Although providing spatial layout guidance improves the multi-entity generation quality in existing works, it is still challenging to handle the leakage attributes and avoid unnatural characteristics. To address the IMR challenge, we first conduct in-depth analyses of the diffusion process and attention operation, revealing that the IMR challenges largely stem from the process of cross-attention mechanisms. According to the analyses, we introduce the entity guidance generation mechanism, which maintains the integrity of the original diffusion model parameters by integrating plug-in networks. Our work advances the stable diffusion model by segmenting comprehensive prompts into distinct entity-specific prompts with bounding boxes, enabling a transition from multi-entity to single-entity generation in cross-attention layers. More importantly, we introduce entity-centric cross-attention layers that focus on individual entities to preserve their uniqueness and accuracy, alongside global entity alignment layers that refine cross-attention maps using multi-entity priors for precise positioning and attribute accuracy. Additionally, a linear attenuation module is integrated to progressively reduce the influence of these layers during inference, preventing oversaturation and preserving generation fidelity. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that this entity guidance generation enhances existing text-to-image models in generating detailed, multi-entity images.

2022 Jmpnet: Joint Motion Prediction for Learning-Based Video Compression
abstract
In recent years, more attention is attracted by learning-based approaches in the field of video compression. Recent methods of this kind normally consist of three major components: intra-frame network, motion prediction network, and residual network, among which the motion prediction part is particularly critical for video compression. Benefiting from the optical flow which enables dense motion prediction, recent methods have shown competitive performance compared with traditional codecs. However, problems such as tail shadow and background distortion in the predicted frame remain unsolved. To tackle these problems, JMPNet is introduced in this paper to provide more accurate motion information by using both optical flow and dynamic local filter as well as an attention map to further fuse these motion information in a smarter way. Experimental results show that the proposed method surpasses state-of-the-art (SOTA) rate-distortion (RD) performance in the most data-sets.

2022 MAE-DET: Revisiting Maximum Entropy Principle in Zero-Shot NAS for Efficient Object Detection
abstract
In object detection, the detection backbone consumes more than half of the overall inference cost. Recent researches attempt to reduce this cost by optimizing the backbone architecture with the help of Neural Architecture Search (NAS). However, existing NAS methods for object detection require hundreds to thousands of GPU hours of searching, making them impractical in fast-paced research and development. In this work, we propose a novel zero-shot NAS method to address this issue. The proposed method, named MAE-DET, automatically designs efficient detection backbones via the Maximum Entropy Principle without training network parameters, reducing the architecture design cost to nearly zero yet delivering the state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance. Under the hood, MAE-DET maximizes the differential entropy of detection backbones, leading to a better feature extractor for object detection under the same computational budgets. After merely one GPU day of fully automatic design, MAE-DET innovates SOTA detection backbones on multiple detection benchmark datasets with little human intervention. Comparing to ResNet-50 backbone, MAE-DET is $+2.0%$ better in mAP when using the same amount of FLOPs/parameters, and is $1.54$ times faster on NVIDIA V100 at the same mAP. 2021 Interpolation Variable Rate Image Compression
abstract
Compression standards have been used to reduce the cost of image storage and transmission for decades. In recent years, learned image compression methods have been proposed and achieved compelling performance to the traditional standards. However, in these methods, a set of different networks are used for various compression rates, resulting in a high cost in model storage and training. Although some variable-rate approaches have been proposed to reduce the cost by using a single network, most of them brought some performance degradation when applying fine rate control. To enable variable-rate control without sacrificing the performance, we propose an efficient Interpolation Variable-Rate (IVR) network, by introducing a handy Interpolation Channel Attention (InterpCA) module in the compression network. With the use of two hyperparameters for rate control and linear interpolation, the InterpCA achieves a fine PSNR interval of 0.001 dB and a fine rate interval of 0.0001 Bits-Per-Pixel (BPP) with 9000 rates in the IVR network. Experimental results demonstrate that the IVR network is the first variable-rate learned method that outperforms VTM 9.0 (intra) in PSNR and Multiscale Structural Similarity (MS-SSIM).

2019 Learning to Rank Proposals for Object Detection
abstract
Non-Maximum Suppression (NMS) is an essential step of modern object detection models for removing duplicated candidates. The efficacy of NMS heavily affects the final detection results. Prior works exploit suppression criterions relying on either the objectiveness derived from classification or the overlapness produced by regression, both of which are heuristically designed and fail to explicitly link with the suppression rank. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a novel Learning-to-Rank (LTR) model to produce the suppression rank via a learning procedure, thus facilitating the candidate generation and lifting the detection performance. In particular, we define a ranking score based on IoU to indicate the ranks of candidates during the NMS step, where candidates with high ranking score will be reserved and the ones with low ranking score will be eliminated. We design a lightweight network to predict the ranking score. We introduce a ranking loss to supervise the generation of these ranking scores, which encourages candidates with IoU to the ground-truth to rank higher. To facilitate the training procedure, we design a novel sampling strategy via dividing candidates into different levels and select hard pairs to adopt in the training. During the inference phase, this module can be exploited as a plugin to the current object detector. The training and inference of the overall framework is end-to-end. Comprehensive experiments on benchmarks PASCAL VOC and MS COCO demonstrate the generality and effectiveness of our model for facilitating existing object detectors to state-of-the-art accuracy.

2013 Image co-saliency detection by propagating superpixel affinities
abstract
Image co-saliency detection is a valuable technique to highlight perceptually salient regions in image pairs. In this paper, we propose a self-contained co-saliency detection algorithm based on superpixel affinity matrix. We first compute both intra and inter similarities of superpixels of image pairs. Bipartite graph matching is applied to determine most reliable inter similarities. To update the similarity score between every two superpixels, we next employ a GPU-based all-pair SimRank algorithm to do propagation on the affinity matrix. Based on the inter superpixel affinities we derive a co-saliency measure that evaluates the foreground cohesiveness and locality compactness of superpixels within one image. The effectiveness of our method is demonstrated in experimental evaluation.
