2015 Dynamics of the Servitized Society: Why Should We Take Care of PPP?
abstract
Services, coming from multiple independent innovations, contribute significantly to the dynamics of contemporary societies. Most often, they owe their emergence to intense, interdisciplinary, inter-institutional, and often international collaboration. In particular, such collaboration must concretely at the service level, consider the relationships between the private and the public, including making services compliant to the regulatory framework, consequently precipitating profound societal changes. The background of this article is societal dynamics by means of services and its aim is to explore how to make these innovations sustainable and efficient, how to clarify the roles of public sectors and private sectors and how to help the societies to overcome their challenges by virtue of service science with responsibility.

2011 Service specification upon multiple existing information systems
abstract
This paper presents an approach for the specification of business services upon multiple existing information systems (IS). Indeed, the challenges that a service architect has to face with the IS complexity from one side (due to the intertwinement of the organisational, informational, technological and ontological spaces), the complexity of its evolution from the other, and often multiple existing information systems, require a proper guidance and a methodological framework in order to implement new business services. We thus propose a process model with a referential of analysis (SAM) to support our approach and we discuss it in the context of the e-government services engineering.

2011 Shifts in foci and challenges in the field of information systems development methods
abstract
Continuous changes and extensions of enterprise information systems (IS) are the main causes of their fragmentation and redundancy. The notion of service and service-oriented engineering emerges as a prospective approach to deal with IS evolution. The shift form IS to information services systems (ISS) requires to re-think the fundamentals of IS development methods and to re-align them with the brave new ISS development practice. In this paper we analyze this shift and we identify the challenges entailed in the field of IS development methods.

2008 A framework for supporting management in distributed information systems development
abstract
Increasing tendency towards globalisation and outsourcing of software and information systems (IS) development poses a number of challenges and difficulties that companies have to deal with. Quite a few studies have been conducted which have identified a set of problems as well as potential benefits of distributed systems development. In this paper we propose a framework characterising the domain of distributed information systems development (DISD) which aims to help project managers to analyse DISD project situation, identify potential problems and therefore evaluate project risks. Besides, the framework aims to indicate prospective solutions to each type of problem.

2006 Implementation and Deployment Process of IMS Learning Design: Findings from the Canadian IDLD Research Project
abstract
IDLD, implementation and deployment of learning design http://www.idld.org, is a Canadian project that aims to bridge the gap among IMS learning design researchers and developers and pedagogical designers. Two main products of the project are a well founded, well supported and well tooled implementation process for describing new or existing IMS-LD compliant units of learning and a repository of reusable learning design examples and generic templates. In this paper we describe the proposed implementation process and tools and how it was carried out by four IDLD teams building units of learning (UoL) for the repository. In each case, IMS-LD compliant units of learning were produced from existing scenarios, leading to a set of both generic and exemplary UoLs. The scenarios were carefully chosen to assure some design quality in order to enhance the reusability potential. The paper concludes with some recommendations and next steps

1995 An experiment in learning about basic information system concepts
abstract
We present, in this paper, an experiment in learning basic Information Systems (IS) concepts through practice in a self teaching environment. Students with no formal background in the area, engaged in a role playing game to produce a requirements document for a fictitious organisation, which was then implemented by students with a technical background. We used staff observations and student feedback, collected in different ways, to assess the experiment against the set goals. Students, who were very enthusiastic, learned about important aspects of IS analysis and design through their own group experience. Our own observations can also be used in a more general study of IS human factors.

1992 NelleN: A Framework for Literate Data Modelling
abstract
The literate data modelling paradigm provides a basis for structuring, justifying, and documenting the data modelling process. The paradigm is based on deliberation schemas consisting of issues, positions, and arguments. Deliberation schemas provide both a default argumentation space for decision-taking and a structure for recording the rationale once a decision is taken. An extendable class-based implementation framework, NelleN, provides a foundation for complementing a CASE-tool data dictionary with deliberation schemas. The framework consists of algorithm, deliberation schema and deliberation triggering classes. A subclassing mechanism is used for extending the framework. A small prototype demonstrates the type of CASE-tool that may be implemented using the framework. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
