2024 MEDERED: Medical Error Reduction Method for Drugs Prescription
abstract
Medicines play a pivotal role in healthcare and errors in medications certainly influence the quality and safety of healthcare. Currently, the healthcare industry is provided with various technologies that have enabled them to streamline and optimize the healthcare process. However, there are a number of factors that need to be synchronized further to obtain and enhance patient safety. In this research, an attempt is made to develop an intelligent method for smart diagnosis and medication prescription encompassing input, data process, and drug prescription output. The architectural design and prototype for the system model has a database that is referred to as Medical Health Record (MHR). The patient's medical history will be integrated with the prevailing symptoms in MHR. The MHR will help healthcare professionals to diagnose a particular disease based on his/her current symptoms, medical signs, and investigational data. Further, physician and pharmacist heuristic can be utilized for drug determination, drug allergy, adverse reaction, and possible drugdrug/herb/food interaction. The medical dataset was extracted from PubMed. This new AI based approach will re-engineer intelligent smart methods to develop quality healthcare in the most appropriate fashion. The learning results demonstrated an accuracy of 75.37%, providing a solid baseline for future model improvements.

2018 Information security practice in Saudi Arabia: case study on Saudi organizations
abstract
Purpose Information security of an organization is influenced by the deployed policy and procedures. Information security policy reflects the organization’s attitude to the protection of its information assets. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the status of the information security policy at a subset of Saudi’s organizations by understanding the perceptions of their information technology’s employees. Design/methodology/approach A descriptive and statistical approach has been used to describe the collected data and characteristics of the IT employees and managers to understand the information security policy at the surveyed organizations. The author believes that understanding the IT employees’ views gives a better understanding of the organization’s status of information security policy. Findings It has been found that most of the surveyed organizations have established information security policy and deployed fair technology; however, many of such policies are not enforced and publicized effectively and efficiently which degraded the deployed technology for such protection. In addition, the clarity and the comprehensibility of such policies are questionable as indicated by most of the IT employees’ responses. A comparison with similar studies at Middle Eastern and European countries has shown similar findings and shares the same concerns. Originality/value The findings of this research suggest that the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission should develop a national framework for information security to guide the governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as the information security practitioners on the good information security practices in terms of policy and procedures to help the organizations to avoid any vulnerability that may lead to violations on the security of their information.

2012 Using Program Dynamic Analysis for Weak Algorithm Detection
abstract
Most of the proposed software testing approaches have concentrated on identifying faults in the implemented programs with the premise that the program may be implemented incorrectly. Although such premise is valid for many developed software systems and applications, it has been observed that many detected defects are caused by poor designed software. In this paper we present a dynamic analysis approach that identifies program deficiency that may be caused by poorly designed algorithm. Detecting such deficiency may help in identifying a weakly implemented program algorithm by identifying places in the program that may cause such weakness and suggest to the software designer/developer to redesign the program with a better algorithm.

2012 Information Security Awareness at Saudi Arabians' Organizations: An Information Technology Employee's Perspective
abstract
Information security awareness is human and organizational attitudes which can be described as a behavior or an attitude of an organization and/or its members towards protecting the organization’s information assets. The goal of this paper is to understand the state of the information security awareness at some of the Saudi Arabians’ organizations, i.e., governments and privates by investigating the perception of their information technology’s employees. The author believes that understanding the state of information security awareness of IT employees can give a better understanding of the level of awareness at the entire organization. The results of this study show that most of the IT employees at the surveyed organizations have some misconceptions about information security practices. In addition, many responses indicated that many IT employees are not aware of the internal information security threats. Such results required very urgent actions from the top management of these organizations to consider the information security awareness programs within their public relations and training programs.

2007 Redundant Coupling Detection Using Dynamic Dependence Analysis
abstract
Most of the software engineers realize the importance of avoiding coupling between programs modules in order to achieve the advantages of modules reusability. However, most of them practice modules' coupling in many cases without necessities. Many techniques have been proposed to detect module's coupling in computer programs. However, developers desire to automatically identify unnecessary module's coupling that can be eliminated with minimum effort, which we refer to as redundant coupling. Redundant coupling is the module coupling that does not contribute to the output of the program. In this paper we introduce an automated approach that uses the dynamic dependence analysis to detect the redundant coupling between program's modules. Such technique guides the developers to avoid redundant coupling when testing their programs.

2006 Application of Computational Redundancy in Dangling Pointers Detection
abstract
Many programmers manipulate dynamic data improperly, which may produce dynamic memory problems, such as dangling pointer. Dangling pointers can occur when a function returns a pointer to an automatic variable, or when trying to access a deleted object. The existence of dangling pointers causes the programs to behave incorrectly. Dangling pointers are common defect that are easy to commit, but are difficult to discover. In this paper we propose a dynamic approach that detects dangling pointers in computer programs. Redundant computation is an execution of a program statement(s) that does not contribute to the program output. The notion of redundant computation is introduced as a potential indicator of defects in programs. We investigate the application of redundant computation in dangling pointers detection. The results of the initial experiment show that, the redundant computation detection can help the debuggers to localize the source(s) of the dangling pointers. During the experiment, we find that, our approach may be capable of detecting other types of dynamic memory problems such as memory leaks and inaccessible objects, which we plan to investigate in our future research.

2005 Towards an effective software engineering course project
abstract
Software engineering instructors face many challenges. Among these challenges is the course project. Instructors are required to train their students on the professional skills to be ready for the real world business, which requires the students to work on real projects. However, because of the low quality of the students' work, not all of the professional organizations are cooperating to offer a chance for the software engineering students to work on a real project. Therefore, most of the software engineering courses' projects are in-class project, in which the instructors represent the clients. In this paper, I proposed a solution to this problem based on my experience in involving my software engineering students in real world projects.
