| 2022 | Design Process adoption: A Survey in the Brazilian Software IndustryabstractThere is a growing concern in the software industries to ensure that systems have usable interfaces, and it is common for the professional designer to be responsible for pursuing this goal. Given the different design processes available in the literature and the different background of professionals, in this paper we seek to understand how the adoption and definition of the design process occurs in the Brazilian software industry. At first, we carried out an online survey, seeking information about professional experiences and the application of design processes. We selected ten survey respondents to be interviewed. We obtained 73 responses with the survey, from which 78% apply a design process, with Design Thinking being the most cited. By conducting the interviews, we found that the processes applied are usually defined according to the project type, while professionals who do not apply processes report a lack of appreciation of the designer’s work by the team. The results highlight differences in how each company proceeds about its performance in the design sector. Overall, our results suggest that design processes bring a substantial positive impact to the projects they are applied to. Tainah Chaves, Ana Paula Da C. Filgueira, Katleen Karla B. | 2022 | Evaluating the performance of web rendering technologies based on JavaScript: Angular, React, and VueabstractThe expansion of online services and the increasing demand for a good experience on the Web have promoted the emergence of different rendering frameworks based on JavaScript that assist the agile development and optimize the application’s performance. This paper presents a methodology to evaluate web rendering frameworks based on virtual and incremental DOM paradigms: Angular, React, and Vue. We conducted a study case based on a generic toy application and analyzed the build size, time to interact, and the DOM manipulation time aspects. Our results show that Vue is 758% faster than React and 595% compared with Angular in manipulation time. Angular occupies 54% more bundle space than Vue and 45% than React. React shows the best time of interactive (300ms), 33% faster than Vue and 50% than Angular. The experiments can support future Web project methodology decisions. Diniz-Junior Raimundo N. | 2022 | STRAYER: A Smart Grid adapted automation architecture against cyberattacksabstractEven with advances in Smart Grids and their cybersecurity recommendations, recent attacks on automation and protection systems of these structures show that it is still necessary to investigate this research problem. With that in mind, this work proposes STRAYER: a SmarT aRchitecture Against cYbERattacks to reduce the vulnerability of automation equipment in Smart Grids. STRAYER integrates cybersecurity for monitoring and shielding access, interoperability for maintaining communication between equipment/devices, and risk management for maintaining reliability and preventing real-time cyberattacks on Smart Grids. To validate the STRAYER, we built a prototype commonly used in smart grids. The results showed that STRAYER increases the security efficiency compared to the traditional architecture, reducing the amount of infected equipment and the undue access time to Smart Grids. In addition to the reductions in the amount of IED’s affected by invasions, it was also possible to notice that STRAYER avoided the collapse of a Smart Grid, having only minimal and reversible losses, unlike the traditional architecture. | 2021 | Automatically Deciding on the Integration of Commits Based on Their DescriptionsabstractContinuous Integration is a critical problem for software maintenance in global projects, compromising companies’ performance, which tends to accumulate a high-resolution time due to the approval process, conflict resolution, tests, and validations. The process of the validation involves the commit description interpretation and can be automated by NLP-mechanisms. This paper presents an intelligent NLP-based approach to evaluate whether the commits can be integrated into a certain software release based only on their descriptions. Our experiments showed an accuracy of 92.9%. Samuel C. Fonseca, Mateus C. Lucena, Tiago M. Reis, Pedro F. Cabral, Walmir A. Silva, Flávia de Souza Santos, Felipe T. Giuntini, Juliano Sales |
