| 2026 | Temporal diffuser: Timing scale-aware modulation for sign language productionabstractRecent advances in Sign Language Production (SLP) highlight denoising diffusion models as promising alternatives to traditional autoregressive methods. Most existing approaches follow a two-stage pipeline that encodes sign motion into discrete latent codes, often sacrificing Space–Time fidelity and requiring gloss annotations or complex codebooks. Transformer-based models aim to simplify this, but often produce overly smooth, unnatural motions. We introduce Sign Language Production with Scale-Aware Modulation (SignSAM), a novel single-stage, gloss-free SLP framework that directly synthesizes motion in continuous space, preserving fine temporal details. At its core is a Space–Time U-Net that learns compact temporal features by jointly downscaling the frame and sign feature dimensions, thereby reducing computational cost compared to a no-pyramid UNet or a pyramid UNet without consistency between dimensions. To further enhance temporal precision, we propose a Timing Scale-Aware Modulation module that fuses multiscale temporal resolutions for better motion coherence. Experiments on PHOENIX14T and How2Sign show that SignSAM achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) fluency, accuracy, and naturalness, offering an efficient and expressive solution for SLP. | 2025 | Instruction-Driven 3D Facial Expression Generation and TransitionabstractA 3D avatar typically has one of six cardinal facial expressions. To simulate realistic emotional variation, we should be able to render a facial transition between two arbitrary expressions. This study presents a new framework for instruction-driven facial expression generation that produces a 3D face and, starting from an image of the face, transforms the facial expression from one designated facial expression to another. The Instruction-driven Facial Expression Decomposer (IFED) module is introduced to facilitate multimodal data learning and capture the correlation between textual descriptions and facial expression features. Subsequently, we propose the Instruction to Facial Expression Transition (I2FET) method, which leverages IFED and a vertex reconstruction loss function to refine the semantic comprehension of latent vectors, thus generating a facial expression sequence according to the given instruction. Lastly, we present the Facial Expression Transition model to generate smooth transitions between facial expressions. Extensive evaluation suggests that the proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the CK+ and CelebV-HQ datasets. The results show that our framework can generate facial expression trajectories according to text instruction. Considering that text prompts allow us to make diverse descriptions of human emotional states, the repertoire of facial expressions and the transitions between them can be expanded greatly. We expect our framework to find various practical applications. | 2024 | A framework-based transformer and knowledge distillation for interior style classificationabstractInterior style classification is an interesting problem which has potential applications both commercial and academic communities. This task aims to devise interior design styles automatically. Thus, interior designers will explore customers’ tastes and then precisely provide suggestions for decor inspiration based on their preferences. Recently, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have been considered the de-facto standard in computer vision tasks. Therefore, several current works have tended to address interior style classification using CNN-based architectures. Moreover, transformer-based architectures and attention-based encoder–decoder models have been proven successfully in computer vision and natural language processing tasks. Sequentially, more studies have been arguing the efficiency of combining CNN-based architectures and transformer-based architectures for normal image classification problems. In this project, we focus on finding an architecture network that is suitable for the interior style classification problem. We propose a robustness method to address interior style design classification, named ISC-DeIT. The proposed method is based on Data-efficient image transformer architectures and knowledge distillation, which can be trained on small datasets effectively. Especially, a proposed additional module is plugged to leverage learning feature representations for improving predictive accuracy. Experiments were carried out on a new curated dataset with five interior styles including Art-Decor, Hitech, Indochina, Industrial, and Scandinavian. Empirical results of ISC- DeiT indicated that the ability of prediction for interior style classification of the proposed method has been increased significantly, compared with other state-of-the-art methods. | 2023 | Coarse-to-fine fusion for language grounding in 3D navigationabstractWe present a new network whereby an agent navigates in the 3D environment to find a target object according to a language-based instruction. Such a task is challenging because the agent has to understand the instruction correctly and takes a series of actions to locate a target among others without colliding with obstacles. The essence of our proposed network consists of a coarse-to-fine fusion model to fuse language and vision and an autoencoder to encode visual information effectively. Then, an asynchronous reinforcement learning algorithm is used to coordinate detailed actions to complete the navigation task. Extensive evaluation using three different levels of the navigation task in the 3D Vizdoom environment suggests that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art. To see if the proposed network can deal with a real-world 3D environment for the navigation task, it is combined with Rec-BERT, which is based on REVERIE. The result suggests that it performs better, especially for unseen cases, and it is also useful to visualize what and when the agent pays attention to while it navigates in a complex indoor environment. | 2023 | An efficient framework for outfit compatibility prediction towards occasionabstractAbstract Nowadays, in a communicating society, fashion is an integral part of a human life, and it is more comfortable and confident when people dress well. Outfit compatibility is not only a combination of different items but also regarding various aspects, such as style, user preferences, and specific occasions. Most of the existing works lead to address the outfit compatibility concerning only style or user preferences, and have no regard for occasions. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for both outfit compatibility and the fill-in-the-blank tasks according to specific occasions. To this end, we utilized an auxiliary classification branch to learn the significantly important features regarding specific occasions. Besides, a sequence to sequence approach is also applied to learn the relationship of different items along with a visual semantic space, which is able to learn the connection between visual features and their semantic presentation. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conduct experiments on our newly collected Shoplook-Occasion dataset. The experimental results indicate that our proposed method improved the AUC metric from 0.02 to 0.15% and from 0.5 to 4% on accuracy, compared with other approaches for outfit compatibility problem conditioning on specific occasions.
