2025 Safety Trajectory Planning for Autonomous Vehicles in Unstructured Narrow Environments: A Perception Error Compatible Approach
abstract
Planning in unstructured narrow environments with perception errors is of great challenge, as inaccurately perceived obstacle positions may lead planners to generate collision-prone trajectories. Typically, constraints are applied on the collision probability of the potential trajectory to ensure safety. However, due to the oversimplified modeling of vehicles or obstacles in estimating collision probabilities, these methods are often unsuitable for unstructured environments. To address this issue, we propose a computationally efficient risk zone generation method and introduce a Gaussian error function-based evaluation method to the collision risk assessment. The resulting risk-aware cost term is integrated into a trajectory optimization framework based on optimal control theory, effectively enabling obstacle avoidance by explicitly penalizing collision risk along the trajectory. Additionally, to address the inherent limitations of penalty based obstacle avoidance, we introduce a geometric safety constraint rigorously derived with duality principles. In the simulation scenarios of the Trajectory Planning Competition for Automated Parking organized by the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference 2022, we introduce perception uncertainty to better reflect real-world conditions. The results demonstrate that our algorithm significantly improves trajectory safety while maintaining an effective balance between safety and efficiency.

2025 Sparse Meets Dense: Unified Generative Recommendations with Cascaded Sparse-Dense Representations
abstract
Generative models have recently gained attention in recommendation systems by directly predicting item identifiers from user interaction sequences. However, existing methods suffer from significant information loss due to the separation of stages such as quantization and sequence modeling, hindering their ability to achieve the modeling precision and accuracy of sequential dense retrieval techniques. Integrating generative and dense retrieval methods remains a critical challenge. To address this, we introduce the Cascaded Organized Bi-Represented generAtive retrieval (COBRA) framework, which innovatively integrates sparse semantic IDs and dense vectors through a cascading process. Our method alternates between generating these representations by first generating sparse IDs, which serve as conditions to aid in the generation of dense vectors. End-to-end training enables dynamic refinement of dense representations, capturing both semantic insights and collaborative signals from user-item interactions. During inference, COBRA employs a coarse-to-fine strategy, starting with sparse ID generation and refining them into dense vectors via the generative model. We further propose BeamFusion, an innovative approach combining beam search with nearest neighbor scores to enhance inference flexibility and recommendation diversity. Extensive experiments on public datasets and offline tests validate our method's robustness. Online A/B tests on a real-world advertising platform with over 200 million daily users demonstrate substantial improvements in key metrics, highlighting COBRA's practical advantages.

2021 Neural Collaborative Preference Learning With Pairwise Comparisons
abstract
Collaborative Ranking (CR), as an effective recommendation framework, has attracted increasing attention in recent years. Most CR methods simply adopt the inner product between user/item embeddings as the rating score function, with an assumption that the interacted items are preferred to non-interacted ones. However, such fixed score functions and assumptions might not be sufficient to capture the real preference ranking list from the complicated interactions in real-world data. To alleviate this issue, we develop a novel collaborative ranking framework that learns an arbitrary utility function for item ranking with user preference concerned. In the core of our framework, a neural network is employed to model the utility function for personalized ranking with the strength of its nonlinearity. On top of this, we further adopt a pairwise ranking loss for user-item pairs to preserve the preference order of items for users. Besides, such a utility function enables us to generate the final top-$K$preference list in a much easier way. Finally, extensive experiments on four real-world datasets show the validity of our proposed method.

2020 Quaternion-Based Knowledge Graph Network for Recommendation
abstract
Recently, to alleviate the data sparsity and cold start problem, many research efforts have been devoted to the usage of knowledge graph (KG) in recommender systems. It is common for most existing KG based models to represent users and items using real-valued embeddings. However, compared with complex or hypercomplex numbers, these real-valued vectors are of less representation capacity and no intrinsic asymmetrical properties, thus may limit the modeling of interactions between entities and relations in KG. In this paper, we propose Quaternion-based Knowledge Graph Network (QKGN) for recommendation, which represents users and items with quaternion embeddings in hypercomplex space, so that the latent inter-dependencies between entities and relations could be captured effectively. In the core of our model, a semantic matching principle based on Hamilton product is applied to learn expressive quaternion representations from the unified user-item KG. On top of this, those embeddings are attentively updated by a customized preference propagation mechanism with structure information concerned. Finally, we apply the proposed QKGN to three real-world datasets of music, movie and book, and experimental results show the validity of our method.

2011 A Method to Generate Verification Condition Generator
abstract
We propose a method to generate certain verification condition generators (VCGens, for short) automatically to be used in certifying compilers or other verification tools in this paper, to alleviate the burden of developing various kinds of VCGens in the domain-specific program verification tools. We introduce a new methodology for describing the rules in the verification condition calculation. We have implemented a prototype of VCGEN2(VCGenGen) using C++. This tool provides a series of interfaces named action functions to the users. Users can describe the calculation rules by combining these action functions. And our tool also embeds a parser generator, so users need to feed in the grammar of the languages along with the calculation rules. If there is no error, VCGEN2 outputs the corresponding VCGen with respect to the user-defined languages and rules. We have used our prototype to generate a number of VCGens successfully as demonstration.

2010 A Certifying Compiler for Clike Subset of C Language
abstract
Proof-carrying code (PCC) is a technique that allows code consumers to check whether the code is safe to execute or not through a formal safety proof provided by the code producer. And a certifying compiler makes PCC practical by compiling annotated source code into low-level code and proofs. In this paper we present a certifying compiler for a subset of the C programming language, named Clike, with built-in automated theorem provers. Clike programs can be compiled by ANSI C compiler without any modification. Our compiler is intended to deal with data structures such as singly-linked lists, doubly-linked lists and trees. At the source level, we have designed a program logic combining a constrained first-order logic and a fragment of separation logic. We use a verification-condition-based method, and the generated verification conditions are sent to the built-in automated theorem prover. Our prover will generate proof terms when the input formula is valid. The low-level verification framework follows Hoare-style verification methods. The assembly code, its specification and proofs are generated automatically based on a variant of Stack-based Certifying Assembly Programming (SCAP). We implement our certifying compiler prototype in SML/NJ and build our prover libraries using the meta logic provided by Coq. We have used our prototype to successfully certify a considerable number of programs manipulating linked-lists and binary trees.

2007 Design of a Certifying Compiler Supporting Proof of Program Safety
abstract
Safety is an important property of high-assurance software, and one of the hot research topics on it is the verification method for software to meet its safety policies. In our previous work, we designed a pointer logic system and proposed a framework for developing and verifying safety critical programs. And in this paper, we present the design and implementation of a certifying compiler based on that framework. Here we will mainly explain verification condition generation, generation of code and assertions, and proof generation for basic blocks. Our certifying compiler has the following novelties: 1) it supports a programming language equipped with both a type system and a logic system; 2) and it can produce safety proofs for programs with pointers.
