2011 A fast approximation technique for power grid analysis
abstract
In this paper, we present a fast approximation algorithm for computing IR drops in a VLSI power grid. Assuming that the grid does not have pathological defects, the algorithm can estimate IR drops to within 5% average error, with a run time of less than one second per million nodes. Incremental recomputations with new current source values are even faster. The IR drop profiles have excellent correlation with simulated values, making this approach a viable platform for building automatic grid optimization algorithms.

2006 Design and integration methods for a multi-threaded dual core 65nm Xeon® processor
abstract
The success of building a complex multi-billion transistor processor is very dependent on robust and silicon proven design and integration methods. The complexity of 65nm process and striving for best in class performance with aggressive time to market schedule put a heavy emphasis on innovative design and integration methods to enable working silicon. In this paper, we describe the design and integration methods successfully used in a multi-threaded dual core 65nm Xeon® Processor.

1995 Efficient approximation of the time domain response of lossy coupled transmission line trees
abstract
A new technique for rapidly estimating the transient response of lossy transmission line interconnect structures is introduced. The new approach, Reciprocal Expansion (REX), is similar to Asymptotic Waveform Evaluation (AWE) in that it approximates the interconnect by a low-order system. However, unlike AWE, REX expands the reciprocal of the transfer function as a Taylor series. REX has been extended to handle distributed elements directly, compute crosstalk between coupled trees, and account for frequency-dependent effects. Experimental results demonstrate that for critical underdamped interconnects, REX provides better accuracy than AWE.>

1992 Detailed layer assignment for MCM routing
abstract
A routing environment mode, called the k-MCM model, is developed to take into account the unique features of a multilayer multichip module (MCM) such as the availability of segmented vias, and the presence of two active or terminal-bearing layers. A detailed layer assignment problem is formulated on the k-MCM model. A fast heuristic algorithm for the layer assignment problem is proposed and experimental results on twelve test examples with net counts up to 842 are presented.>
