| 2025 | Depth Any Event Stream: Enhancing Event-based Monocular Depth Estimation via Dense-to-Sparse DistillationabstractWith the superior sensitivity of event cameras to high-speed motion and extreme lighting conditions, event-based monocular depth estimation has gained popularity to predict structural information about surrounding scenes in challenging environments. However, the scarcity of labeled event data constrains prior supervised learning methods. Unleashing the promising potential of the existing RGB-based depth foundation model, DAM, we propose Depth Any Event stream (EventDAM) to achieve high-performance event based monocular depth estimation in an annotation-free manner. EventDAM effectively combines paired dense RGB images with sparse event data by incorporating three key cross-modality components: Sparsity-aware Feature Mixture (SFM), Sparsity-aware Feature Distillation (SFD), and Sparsity-invariant Consistency Module (SCM). With the proposed sparsity metric, SFM mixes features from RGB images and event data to generate auxiliary depth predictions, while SFD facilitates adaptive feature distillation. Furthermore, SCM ensures output consistency across varying sparsity levels in event data, thereby endowing EventDAM with zero shot capabilities across diverse scenes. Extensive experiments across a variety of benchmark datasets, compared to approaches using diverse input modalities, robustly substantiate the generalization and zero-shot capabilities of EventDAM. | 2025 | Leader360V: A Large-scale, Real-world 360 Video Dataset for Multi-task Learning in Diverse Environmentabstract360 video captures the complete surrounding scenes with the ultra-large field of view of 360x180. This makes 360 scene understanding tasks, e.g., segmentation and tracking, crucial for appications, such as autonomous driving, robotics. With the recent emergence of foundation models, the community is, however, impeded by the lack of large-scale, labelled real-world datasets. This is caused by the inherent spherical properties, e.g., severe distortion in polar regions, and content discontinuities, rendering the annotation costly yet complex. This paper introduces Leader360V, the first large-scale (10K+), labeled real-world 360 video datasets for instance segmentation and tracking. Our datasets enjoy high scene diversity, ranging from indoor and urban settings to natural and dynamic outdoor scenes. To automate annotation, we design an automatic labeling pipeline, which subtly coordinates pre-trained 2D segmentors and large language models (LLMs) to facilitate the labeling. The pipeline operates in three novel stages. Specifically, in the Initial Annotation Phase, we introduce a Semantic- and Distortion-aware Refinement (SDR) module, which combines object mask proposals from multiple 2D segmentors with LLM-verified semantic labels. These are then converted into mask prompts to guide SAM2 in generating distortion-aware masks for subsequent frames. In the Auto-Refine Annotation Phase, missing or incomplete regions are corrected either by applying the SDR again or resolving the discontinuities near the horizontal borders. The Manual Revision Phase finally incorporates LLMs and human annotators to further refine and validate the annotations. Extensive user studies and evaluations demonstrate the effectiveness of our labeling pipeline. Meanwhile, experiments confirm that Leader360V significantly enhances model performance for 360 video segmentation and tracking, paving the way for more scalable 360 scene understanding. We release our dataset and code at {https://leader360v.github.io/Leader360V_HomePage/} for better understanding. | 2024 | SRFNet: Monocular Depth Estimation with Fine-grained Structure via Spatial Reliability-oriented Fusion of Frames and EventsabstractMonocular depth estimation is a crucial task to measure distance relative to a camera, which is important for applications, such as robot navigation and self-driving. Traditional frame-based methods suffer from performance drops due to the limited dynamic range and motion blur. Therefore, recent works leverage novel event cameras to complement or guide the frame modality via frame-event feature fusion. However, event streams exhibit spatial sparsity, leaving some areas unperceived, especially in regions with marginal light changes. Therefore, direct fusion methods, e.g., RAMNet [6], often ignore the contribution of the most confident regions of each modality. This leads to structural ambiguity in the modality fusion process, thus degrading the depth estimation performance. In this paper, we propose a novel Spatial Reliability-oriented Fusion Network (SRFNet), that can estimate depth with fine-grained structure at both daytime and nighttime. Our method consists of two key technical components. Firstly, we propose an attention-based interactive fusion (AIF) module that applies spatial priors of events and frames as the initial masks and learns the consensus regions to guide the inter-modal feature fusion. The fused feature are then fed back to enhance the frame and event feature learning. Meanwhile, it utilizes an output head to generate a fused mask, which is iteratively updated for learning consensual spatial priors. Secondly, we propose the Reliability-oriented Depth Refinement (RDR) module to estimate dense depth with the fine-grained structure based on the fused features and masks. We evaluate the effectiveness of our method on the synthetic and real-world datasets, which shows that, even without pretraining, our method outperforms the prior methods, e.g., RAMNet [6], especially in night scenes. | 2023 | Look at the Neighbor: Distortion-aware Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Panoramic Semantic SegmentationabstractEndeavors have been recently made to transfer knowledge from the labeled pinhole image domain to the unlabeled panoramic image domain via Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA). The aim is to tackle the domain gaps caused by the style disparities and distortion problem from the non-uniformly distributed pixels of equirectangular projection (ERP). Previous works typically focus on transferring knowledge based on geometric priors with specially designed multi-branch network architectures. As a result, considerable computational costs are induced, and meanwhile, their generalization abilities are profoundly hindered by the variation of distortion among pixels. In this paper, we find that the pixels’ neighborhood regions of the ERP indeed introduce less distortion. Intuitively, we propose a novel UDA framework that can effectively address the distortion problems for panoramic semantic segmentation. In comparison, our method is simpler, easier to implement, and more computationally efficient. Specifically, we propose distortion-aware attention (DA) capturing the neighboring pixel distribution without using any geometric constraints. Moreover, we propose a class-wise feature aggregation (CFA) module to iteratively update the feature representations with a memory bank. As such, the feature similarity between two domains can be consistently optimized. Extensive experiments show that our method achieves new state-of-the-art performance while remarkably reducing 80% parameters. Xu Zheng 0002, Tianbo Pan, Yunhao Luo 0001, Lin Wang 0025 |
