2026 Smooth or Jarring? Evaluating Video Transitions with TransiSense and VT-Bench
abstract
With the rapid advancement of state-of-the-art AI tools and diffusion-based models for scene interpolation, qualitative analysis has become increasingly time-consuming and tedious. Here, we address this challenge by proposing a novel metric, TransiSense, which offers an improvement over current benchmarks in the field. Existing evaluation methods primarily focus on isolated aspects of video quality, failing to comprehensively assess the overall transition between an initial and a final frame. Our proposed metric overcomes these limitations by providing a more holistic evaluation, serving as a valuable tool for researchers developing video generation models. Additionally, we introduce a new dataset, VT-Bench, designed to facilitate the testing and benchmarking of future models and metrics. The dataset can be accessed directly at https://huggingface.co/datasets/Abhirup04/VT-Bench .

2025 Improved Pitch and Voicing Determination Using the Reflected Root Chirp Group Delay Spectrum
abstract
Estimating the pitch accurately is an essential task in various audio processing applications, and methods based on deep learning are currently among the state-of-the-art. In this paper we present results using features derived using Reflected Roots Chirp Group Delay (RRCGD) spectrum and its autocorrelation. Compared with our previous work based on the ℓ1-norm residual, our best improvement in Raw Pitch Accuracy (RPA) was 3.31% and Voicing Recall Rate (VRR) was 5.02% in absolute terms and averaged over all SNRs. Incorporating the Transformer architecture, which captures context, helped in improving the accuracy. Unlike the ℓ1-norm residual approach, the proposed method can be used for estimating the pitch of music signals as well because it does not depend on the source-filter model.

2025 Underwater image enhancement using contrast correction
abstract
Abstract Light‐induced degeneration of underwater images occurs by physical features of seawater. According to the wavelength of the colour spectrum, light reduces intensity significantly when it moves through water. The greatest wavelength of light that is visible gets absorbed first. Red and blue absorb the most and least, respectively. Because of the reducing consequences of the light spectrum, underwater images having poor contrast can be obtained. As a result, the crucial data contained inside these images will not be effectively retrieved for later analysis. The recent research suggests a novel approach to enhance the contrast while decreasing noise in underwater images. The recommended approach involves image histogram transformation using two significant colour spaces, Red‐Green‐Blue (RGB) and Hue‐Saturation‐Value (HSV). The histogram of the dominant colour channel (blue channel) in the RGB colour model is extended towards the lower level, containing a maximum limitation of 95%, while the inferior red colour channel has been extended towards the upper side, containing a minimum limitation of 5%. During the entire dynamic range, the green colour channel having the dominant and inferior colour channels expands in each direction. The Rayleigh distribution has been utilized for developing various stretching actions within the RGB colour space. The image has been converted to the HSV colour space, having the S and V elements adjusted within 1% of their minimum and maximum values. The suggested approach is examined in both qualitative and quantitative analysis. According to qualitative analysis, the recommended approach substantially boosts image contrast, lowers its blue and green effect, and minimizes over‐enhanced and under‐enhanced sections in the final resultant underwater image. The quantitative examination of 500 large scale underwater images dataset reveals that the suggested technique generates better results. The dataset images are grouped into small fish images, blue coral images, stone wall images, and coral branch images. The quantitative examination of all these four groups have been evaluated and shown. The average mean square error, peak signal to noise ratio, underwater image quality measurement, and underwater colour image quality evaluation values of dataset images are 76.69, 31.25, 3.85, and 0.64, respectively. These values of our proposed work outperform six other previous methods.

2021 LSTM-Based Emotion Detection Using Physiological Signals: IoT Framework for Healthcare and Distance Learning in COVID-19
abstract
Human emotions are strongly coupled with physical and mental health of any individual. While emotions exbibit complex physiological and biological phenomenon, yet studies reveal that physiological signals can be used as an indirect measure of emotions. In unprecedented circumstances alike the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, a remote Internet of Things (IoT) enabled solution, coupled with AI can interpret and communicate emotions to serve substantially in healthcare and related fields. This work proposes an integrated IoT framework that enables wireless communication of physiological signals to data processing hub where long short-term memory (LSTM)-based emotion recognition is performed. The proposed framework offers real-time communication and recognition of emotions that enables health monitoring and distance learning support amidst pandemics. In this study, the achieved results are very promising. In the proposed IoT protocols (TS-MAC and R-MAC), ultralow latency of 1 ms is achieved. R-MAC also offers improved reliability in comparison to state of the art. In addition, the proposed deep learning scheme offers high performance ([Formula: see text]-score) of 95%. The achieved results in communications and AI match the interdependency requirements of deep learning and IoT frameworks, thus ensuring the suitability of proposed work in distance learning, student engagement, healthcare, emotion support, and general wellbeing.

2021 Intelligent IoT Framework for Indoor Healthcare Monitoring of Parkinson's Disease Patient
abstract
Parkinson's disease is associated with high treatment costs, primarily attributed to the needs of hospitalization and frequent care services. A study reveals annual per-person healthcare costs for Parkinson's patients to be $21,482, with an additional $29,695 burden to society. Due to the high stakes and rapidly rising Parkinson's patients' count, it is imperative to introduce intelligent monitoring and analysis systems. In this paper, an Internet of Things (IoT) based framework is proposed to enable remote monitoring, administration, and analysis of patient's conditions in a typical indoor environment. The proposed infrastructure offers both static and dynamic routing, along with delay analysis and priority enabled communications. The scheme also introduces machine learning techniques to detect the progression of Parkinson's over six months using auditory inputs. The proposed IoT infrastructure and machine learning algorithm are thoroughly evaluated and a detailed analysis is performed. The results show that the proposed scheme offers efficient communication scheduling, facilitating a high number of users with low latency. The proposed machine learning scheme also outperforms state-of-the-art techniques in accurately predicting the Parkinson's progression.
