2003 A novel approach to solve DSL network data rate problems
abstract
Digital subscriber line (DSL) is a service that offers much faster Internet connection than a standard dial up connection. Crosstalk is a major impairment in DSL telecommunication networks. It degrades the upstream and downstream data rates and risks the DSL service providers ability to meet their service level agreement requirements. A novel approach to solve the upstream and downstream data rate problems is presented in this paper. The approach considered is to control the power spectral density and aggregate power level of the DSL access multiplexer.

1990 An evolutionary approach to the design of a metropolitan area network to support B-ISDN applications
abstract
High-level technical information on issues concerning the evolutionary design of a metropolitan area network (MAN) is provided to support broadband integrated services digital network (BISDN). The focus is on methods of providing more aggregate bandwidth than the emerging IEEE Std. 802.6 for the distributed queueing dual bus (DQDB). The limited bandwidth problem associated with the DQDB proposal is solved by using a multihop multiconnected ring architecture with a cross point matrix. The interconnection graph can take any form to provide the concurrency needed.>

1990 A Security Architecture and Mechanism for Data Confidentiality in TCP/IP Protocols
abstract
A method of providing data confidentiality service for secure data communication between two end users through Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) protocols is presented. The system call functions of the socket compatibility interface and transport level interface libraries are used for connection establishment, data transfer, and connection release between two TCP/IP end users. A new security architecture consisting of interactive application program, client/server, and security service modules as well as the corresponding security mechanism to provide data confidentiality service is presented.>
