| 2026 | Target-Mounted Intelligent Reflecting Surface for Electromagnetic SpoofingabstractElectronic countermeasure (ECM) is crucial for preventing target exposure. However, traditional ECM technologies may exhibit limited adaptability or incur high hardware costs, and may even risk exposing the target. To tackle the above challenges, we propose in this paper an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-aided electromagnetic spoofing system, where an IRS is mounted on the target to redirect the reflected signals toward surrounding clusters to create decoy targets for confusing radar detection, while simultaneously making the genuine target invisible to radars. Specifically, we optimize the IRS reflection to maximize the sum received signal power at all radars from the cluster direction and ensure that each radar’s received signal power from the target direction remains below a given detection threshold. For the single-radar and single-cluster setup, we solve the IRS reflection optimization problem by using the Lagrange multiplier method and derive a semi-closed-form optimal solution, which is then generalized to the multi-radar and multi-cluster case. Furthermore, a spoofing performance upper bound for the single-radar case is obtained based on the phase alignment method, and a low-complexity closed-form solution based on minimum mean-square error (MMSE) criteria is developed for the multi-radar case. Additionally, we propose practical low-complexity estimation schemes at the target to acquire angle-of-arrival (AoA) and/or signal power gain information via a small number of receive sensing devices. Simulation results validate the performance advantages of our proposed IRS-aided electromagnetic spoofing system with the proposed IRS reflection designs, as compared to the baseline systems. | 2026 | Rotatable Antenna-Enabled Wireless Communication: Modeling and OptimizationabstractIn this paper, we propose a new rotatable antenna (RA) model to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. Different from conventional fixed antennas, the proposed RA system can flexibly and independently alter the boresight direction of each antenna via mechanical or electronic means to exploit new spatial degrees-of-freedom (DoFs). Specifically, we investigate an RA-enabled uplink communication system, where the receive beamforming and the boresight directions of all RAs at the base station (BS) are jointly optimized to maximize the minimum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) among all the users. In the special single-user and free-space propagation setup, the optimal boresight directions of RAs are derived in closed form with the maximum-ratio combining (MRC) beamformer applied at the BS. In the general multi-user and multipath channel setup, we first propose an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm to alternately optimize the receive beamforming and the boresight directions of RAs in an iterative manner. Then, a two-stage algorithm that solves the formulated problem without the need for iteration is proposed to further reduce computational complexity. Moreover, we extend the channel model to incorporate polarization effects and frequency-selective fading while catering to antenna boresight rotation. Simulation results are provided to validate our analytical results and demonstrate that the proposed RA system can significantly improve the communication performance as compared to other benchmark schemes. | 2025 | Modeling and Optimization for Rotatable Antenna Enabled Wireless CommunicationabstractIn this paper, we propose a new rotatable antenna (RA) model to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. Different from conventional fixed antenna, the proposed RA system can independently and flexibly change the three-dimensional (3D) orientation/boresight of each antenna by adjusting its deflection angles to achieve desired channel realizations. Specifically, we study an RA-enabled uplink communication system, where the receive beamforming and the deflection angles of all RAs are jointly optimized to maximize the minimum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) among all the users. In the special single-user and free-space propagation setup, the optimal deflection angles are derived in closed form with the maximum-ratio combining (MRC) beamformer applied at the base station (BS). In the general multi-user and multi-path setup, we propose an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm to alternately optimize the receive beamforming and the deflection angles in an iterative manner. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate that the proposed RA-enabled system can significantly outperform other benchmark schemes. Qingjie Wu, Beixiong Zheng, Rui Zhang 0006 |

| 2024 | Latency Minimization for UAV-Enabled URLLC-Based Mobile Edge Computing SystemsabstractIn this paper, we consider an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled mobile edge computing (MEC) system, where multiple ground devices offload portions of their latency-sensitive and mission-critical computational tasks to a UAV-carried MEC server for remote computing and compute the remaining portions locally. To meet the low-latency requirements of the MEC, ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC) is used to offload tasks from the devices to the UAV. We minimize the maximum computation latency among all devices by jointly optimizing the computing times and CPU frequencies of the devices and the UAV, the offloading bandwidths of the devices, and the three-dimensional location of the UAV. We propose an algorithm that decomposes the joint optimization problem into three subproblems, which optimize the UAV’s horizontal location, the UAV’s altitude, and the offloading bandwidths and computing CPU frequencies, respectively. In solving the subproblems, the data rate expression of the devices’ finite-blocklength offloading is accurately approximated by a tractable logarithmic function, and the successive convex approximation technique is applied to tackle the non-convex structure. Furthermore, a semi-closed-form solution to the subproblem that optimizes the bandwidths and CPU frequencies is derived to reduce the complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce the system’s computation latency compared to the benchmark schemes.
