2023 Selectivity and Yield Evaluation in the Design of Control Systems for a Type of Parallel Reaction Carried Out in a Tubular Reactor
abstract
The objective of the study is to analyze the effect of the control structure in a parallel reaction, specifically in the production of ethylene oxide in a tubular reactor, on the selectivity and yield. The results indicate that the location of the secondary temperature control loop influenced the performance and selectivity of the feedback control. Despite this, it was observed that the choice of temperature sensor position did not have a significant impact on selectivity and performance. Likewise, they were affected. These findings suggest that the control structure is a critical factor in ethylene oxide production, and can have a positive or negative effect on both aspects.

2023 Effect of Control Design on Yield and Selectivity for Multiple Reactions in a Tubular Type Reactor
abstract
Implementation of a temperature-composition cascade control structure for consecutive multiple reactions performed in a tubular reactor is studied. Response of the control system is evaluated by applying disturbances in the inlet composition and the temperature of the fluid, whose effect is analyzed in the composition of the product obtained, the temperature, yield and selectivity of the reaction.
