| 2025 | DynamicCity: Large-Scale 4D Occupancy Generation from Dynamic ScenesabstractUrban scene generation has been developing rapidly recently. However, existing methods primarily focus on generating static and single-frame scenes, overlooking the inherently dynamic nature of real-world driving environments. In this work, we introduce DynamicCity, a novel 4D occupancy generation framework capable of generating large-scale, high-quality dynamic 4D scenes with semantics. DynamicCity mainly consists of two key models. **1)** A VAE model for learning HexPlane as the compact 4D representation. Instead of using naive averaging operations, DynamicCity employs a novel **Projection Module** to effectively compress 4D features into six 2D feature maps for HexPlane construction, which significantly enhances HexPlane fitting quality (up to **12.56** mIoU gain). Furthermore, we utilize an **Expansion & Squeeze Strategy** to reconstruct 3D feature volumes in parallel, which improves both network training efficiency and reconstruction accuracy than naively querying each 3D point (up to **7.05** mIoU gain, **2.06x** training speedup, and **70.84\%** memory reduction). **2)** A DiT-based diffusion model for HexPlane generation. To make HexPlane feasible for DiT generation, a **Padded Rollout Operation** is proposed to reorganize all six feature planes of the HexPlane as a squared 2D feature map. In particular, various conditions could be introduced in the diffusion or sampling process, supporting **versatile 4D generation applications**, such as trajectory- and command-driven generation, inpainting, and layout-conditioned generation. Extensive experiments on the CarlaSC and Waymo datasets demonstrate that DynamicCity significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art 4D occupancy generation methods across multiple metrics. The code and models have been released to facilitate future research. Hengwei Bian, Lingdong Kong, Haozhe Xie, Liang Pan, Yu Qiao 0001, Ziwei Liu 0002 |

| 2025 | Satellite Edge Intelligence: DRL-Based Resource Management for Task Inference in LEO-Based Satellite-Ground Collaborative NetworksabstractDistinguished from terrestrial edge intelligence, satellite edge intelligence has unique characteristics, including the rapid mobility of satellites, limitations in computing and energy resources, and differences in the artificial intelligence models deployed on user devices, satellites, and ground cloud servers. In this paper, we propose a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL)-based resource management scheme for task inference in Low Earth Orbit (LEO)-based satellite-ground collaborative networks. In our approach, the task of a user can be inferred by the user device itself, the edge server of the current satellite via user-to-satellite transmission, the edge server of a neighboring satellite via satellite-to-satellite transmission, or a ground cloud server via satellite-to-cloud transmission. Our scheme jointly optimizes task offloading, computing resource allocation, and communication resource allocation to minimize the total system cost, which encompasses trade-offs among the task inference delays for all tasks, the energy consumption of system, and the task inference accuracies for all tasks, while ensuring that the transmit power budgets of all satellites and the satellite coverage time constraints for each user are met. A DRL-based algorithm combining the Softmax Deep Double Deterministic Policy Gradients (SD3) algorithm and two numerical methods is designed to solve the optimization problem efficiently. We prove the convergence of our algorithm and demonstrate the superiority of our scheme by performing extensive simulations in 4 scenarios with 4 reference schemes. | 2024 | Bridging the Gap: A Unified Video Comprehension Framework for Moment Retrieval and Highlight DetectionabstractVideo Moment Retrieval (MR) and Highlight Detection (HD) have attracted significant attention due to the growing demand for video analysis. Recent approaches treat MR and HD as similar video grounding problems and address them together with transformer-based architecture. However, we observe that the emphasis of MR and HD differs, with one necessitating the perception of local relationships and the other prioritizing the understanding of global contexts. Consequently, the lack of task-specific design will inevitably lead to limitations in associating the intrinsic specialty of two tasks. To tackle the issue, we propose a Unified Video COMprehension framework (UVCOM) to bridge the gap and jointly solve MR and HD effectively. By performing progressive integration on intra and inter-modality across multi-granularity, UVCOM achieves the comprehensive understanding in processing a video. Moreover, we present multi-aspect contrastive learning to consolidate the local relation modeling and global knowledge accumulation via well aligned multi-modal space. Extensive experiments on QVHighlights, Charades-STA, TACoS, YouTube Highlights and TVSum datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and rationality of UVCOM which outperforms the state-of-the-art methods by a remarkable margin. | 2024 | Metric from Human: Zero-shot Monocular Metric Depth Estimation via Test-time AdaptationabstractMonocular depth estimation (MDE) is fundamental for deriving 3D scene structures from 2D images. While state-of-the-art monocular relative depth estimation (MRDE) excels in estimating relative depths for in-the-wild images, current monocular metric depth estimation (MMDE) approaches still face challenges in handling unseen scenes. Since MMDE can be viewed as the composition of MRDE and metric scale recovery, we attribute this difficulty to scene dependency, where MMDE models rely on scenes observed during supervised training for predicting scene scales during inference. To address this issue, we propose to use humans as landmarks for distilling scene-independent metric scale priors from generative painting models. Our approach, Metric from Human (MfH), bridges from generalizable MRDE to zero-shot MMDE in a generate-and-estimate manner. Specifically, MfH generates humans on the input image with generative painting and estimates human dimensions with an off-the-shelf human mesh recovery (HMR) model. Based on MRDE predictions, it propagates the metric information from painted humans to the contexts, resulting in metric depth estimations for the original input. Through this annotation-free test-time adaptation, MfH achieves superior zero-shot performance in MMDE, demonstrating its strong generalization ability.
