| 2025 | EchoMatch: Partial-to-Partial Shape Matching via Correspondence ReflectionabstractFinding correspondences between 3D shapes is a crucial problem in computer vision and graphics. While most research has focused on finding correspondences in settings where at least one of the shapes is complete, the realm of partial-to-partial shape matching remains under-explored. Yet, it is important since in many applications shapes are only observed partially due to occlusion or scanning. Finding correspondences between partial shapes comes with an additional challenge: We not only want to identify correspondences between points on either shape but also have to determine which points of each shape actually have a partner. To tackle this challenging problem, we present EchoMatch, a novel framework for partial-to-partial shape matching that incorporates the concept of correspondence reflection to enable an overlap prediction within a functional map framework. With this approach, we show that we can outperform current SOTA methods in challenging partial-to-partial shape matching problems. Our code is available at https://echo-match.github.io. | 2025 | Towards Hybrid Cooperative-Preemptive SchedulingabstractCooperative scheduling avoids the many shared-state pitfalls of preemption, but risks fairness---in the limit resulting in denial of service and resource exhaustion. This paper argues that a careful hybrid between cooperation and preemption is both feasible and advantageous: by allowing only carefully controlled and developer-configurable preemption in an otherwise cooperative environment, the scheduler can maintain key invariants while restoring fairness. The paper presents a series of case-study workloads that motivate the need for preemption in real-world cooperative environments, sketches a hybrid design that introduces controlled preemption while maintaining cooperation benefits, and discusses the benefits by applying this hybrid design on the case-study workloads. A hybrid scheduling implementation, Cx, is in progress. Yizheng Xie, Di Jin 0004, Nikos Vasilakis |

| 2025 | Beyond Complete Shapes: A Benchmark for Quantitative Evaluation of 3D Shape Surface Matching AlgorithmsabstractAbstract Finding correspondences between 3D deformable shapes is an important and long‐standing problem in geometry processing, computer vision, graphics, and beyond. While various shape matching datasets exist, they are mostly static or limited in size, restricting their adaptation to different problem settings, including both full and partial shape matching. In particular the existing partial shape matching datasets are small (fewer than 100 shapes) and thus unsuitable for data‐hungry machine learning approaches. Moreover, the type of partiality present in existing datasets is often artificial and far from realistic. To address these limitations, we introduce a generic and flexible framework for the procedural generation of challenging full and partial shape matching datasets. Our framework allows the propagation of custom annotations across shapes, making it useful for various applications. By utilising our framework and manually creating cross‐dataset correspondences between seven existing (complete geometry) shape matching datasets, we propose a new large benchmark BeCoS with a total of 2543 shapes. Based on this, we offer several challenging benchmark settings, covering both full and partial matching, for which we evaluate respective state‐of‐the‐art methods as baselines. Visualisations and code of our benchmark can be found at: https://nafieamrani.github.io/BeCoS/ . | 2024 | Hybrid Functional Maps for Crease-Aware Non-Isometric Shape MatchingabstractNon-isometric shape correspondence remains a fundamental challenge in computer vision. Traditional methods using Laplace-Beltrami operator (LBO) eigenmodes face limitations in characterizing high-frequency extrinsic shape changes like bending and creases. We propose a novel approach of combining the non-orthogonal extrinsic basis of eigenfunctions of the elastic thin-shell hessian with the intrinsic ones of the LBO, creating a hybrid spectral space in which we construct functional maps. To this end, we present a theoretical framework to effectively integrate non-orthogonal basis functions into descriptor- and learning-based functional map methods. Our approach can be in-corporated easily into existing functional map pipelines across varying applications and can handle complex de-formations beyond isometries. We show extensive evaluations across various supervised and unsupervised settings and demonstrate significant improvements. Notably, our approach achieves up to 15% better mean geodesic error for non-isometric correspondence settings and up to 45% improvement in scenarios with topological noise.
