| 2026 | PEANuT: Parameter-Efficient Adaptation with Weight-aware Neural TweakersabstractFine-tuning large pre-trained foundation models often yields excellent downstream performance but is prohibitively expensive when updating all parameters. Parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) methods such as LoRA alleviate this by introducing lightweight update modules, yet they commonly rely on weight-agnostic linear approximations, limiting their expressiveness. In this work, we propose PEANuT, a novel PEFT framework that introduces weight-aware neural tweakers, compact neural modules that generate task-adaptive updates conditioned on frozen pre-trained weights. PEANuT provides a flexible yet efficient way to capture complex update patterns without full model tuning. We theoretically show that PEANuT achieves equivalent or greater expressivity than existing linear PEFT methods with comparable or fewer parameters. Extensive experiments across four benchmarks with over twenty datasets demonstrate that PEANuT consistently outperforms strong baselines in both NLP and vision tasks, while maintaining low computational overhead. | 2025 | UORA: Uniform Orthogonal Reinitialization Adaptation in Parameter Efficient Fine-Tuning of Large ModelsabstractThis paper introduces UoRA, a novel parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) approach for large language models (LLMs). UoRA achieves state-of-the-art efficiency by leveraging a low-rank approximation method that reduces the number of trainable parameters without compromising performance. Unlike existing methods such as LoRA and VeRA, UoRA employs a re-parametrization mechanism that eliminates the need to adapt frozen projection matrices while maintaining shared projection layers across the model. This results in halving the trainable parameters compared to LoRA and outperforming VeRA in computation and storage efficiency. Comprehensive experiments across various benchmarks demonstrate UoRA’s superiority in achieving competitive fine-tuning performance with minimal computational overhead. We demonstrate its performance on GLUE and E2E benchmarks and is effectiveness in instruction-tuning large language models and image classification models. Our contributions establish a new paradigm for scalable and resource-efficient fine-tuning of LLMs. Jinman Zhao, Zhifei Yang 0004, Yibo Zhong, Shuhao Guan, Linbo Cao |

| 2025 | Rethinking Low-Rank Adaptation in Vision: Exploring Head-Level Responsiveness across Diverse TasksabstractLow-rank adaptation (LoRA) has shifted the paradigm of adapting pre-trained Vision Transformers (ViT), achieving great efficiency by updating only a subset of tailored parameters to approximate weight updates. However, the multi-head design of the self-attention mechanism, with the heads working in parallel in the computation flow, exhibiting similar visual patterns and requiring update over all of them, incurs unnecessary storage and computational overhead. In this paper, we propose Head-level responsiveness tuning for low-rank adaptation (Heart-LoRA). The proposed method explores redundancy among the heads and selectively activates task-responsive heads, thus enabling fine-grained head-level tuning. Additionally, given the different responsiveness of heads to diverse visual tasks, our proposed method dynamically activates a subset of the approximated heads that are tailored to the current task. Experimental results show that Heart-LoRA yields superior performance over state-of-the-art PETL approaches on visual adaptation benchmark datasets. Yibo Zhong |
