2026 RehabiliTEA: Gamification-based platform for assessing reactivity and connectivity in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
abstract
The growing prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in recent years has highlighted the need for effective interventions in the cognitive domain to enable children with ASD to achieve success in their daily activities. In response to this need, we have developed RehabiliTEA, a platform for cognitive training in children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Our platform incorporates a Brain-Computer Interface module that allows for the collection of brain signals associated with neural activity. In addition, RehabiliTEA employs gamification techniques, including minimalist visual design tailored to sensory sensitivities, immediate multimodal feedback, and progressive challenge structures, to engage users and to provide therapists with quantitative performance and EEG-based indicators, and to dynamically adjust game difficulty and task demands according to each child’s progress. Our platform has been evaluated by 38 therapists using the System Usability Scale, with results indicating its potential for clinical use. • In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the clinical application of new technologies to address different variables, one of them being the cognitive training of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a pathology whose prevalence is expected to continue to increase in the coming years. • We propose RehabiliTEA, a rehabilitation platform that utilizes gamification techniques and brain-computer interfaces to train the cognitive skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). • The design of the RehabiliTEA platform is scalable and facilitates the incorporation of new types of games and cognitive skills, as well as new metrics and devices that allow collecting more data on their status and intervention to follow. • The prototype of RehabiliTEA has been evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS), with 38 early care and functional habilitation therapists participating in the evaluation. • The evaluation of RehabiliTEA showed that therapists are interested in the use and application of technology in regular cognitive therapy and see it as a valuable complement to their existing approaches.

2010 Gaudii: An Automated Graphic Design Expert System
abstract
Graphic design is the process of creating graphics to meet specific commercial needs based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic concepts. This is usually an iterative trial and error process which requires a lot of time even for expert designers. This expert knowledge can be modelled, represented and used by a computer to perform design activities. This paper describes a novel approach named Gaudii (standing for "Intelligent Automated Graphic Design Generator") which utilizes principles and techniques known from the fields of Evolutionary Computation and Fuzzy Logic to automatically obtain design elements. Experimental results that demonstrate the potential of the proposed approach are presented in the area of poster design.

2009 A Recommender System Based on a Machine Learning Algorithm for B2C Portals
abstract
Users of B2C (Business-to-Consumer) portals often lack of detailed knowledge about the state of the market related to the product they want to purchase. This leads to consumers purchasing the most popular product of a category, although perhaps that is neither the best suited for their requirements nor at the best cost. In this paper, a methodology to develop a recommender system is proposed. Our proposal is based on a supervised learning approach to infer knowledge that allows consumers to unveil what the existing patterns among the features that describe the searched product are. Such knowledge allows consumers to learn what they can buy and at what cost.

2009 Intelligent Surveillance Based on Normality Analysis to Detect Abnormal Behaviors
abstract
Intelligent surveillance refers to using Artificial Intelligence techniques in order to improve surveillance and deal with semantic information obtained from low-level security devices. In this context, the use of expert knowledge may offer a more realistic solution when dealing with the design of a surveillance system. In this work, a conceptual framework based on normality analysis to detect abnormal behaviors by means of normality concepts is presented. A normality concept specifies how a certain object should ideally behave in a concrete environment depending on such a concept. The definition of the normal path concept is studied in depth in order to analyze behaviors in an outdoor environment.
