| 2025 | CORE4D: A 4D Human-Object-Human Interaction Dataset for Collaborative Object REarrangementabstractUnderstanding how humans cooperatively rearrange household objects is critical for VR/AR and human-robot interaction. However, in-depth studies on modeling these behaviors are under-researched due to the lack of relevant datasets. We fill this gap by presenting CORE4D, a novel large-scale 4D human-object-human interaction dataset focusing on collaborative object rearrangement, which encompasses diverse compositions of various object geometries, collaboration modes, and 3D scenes. With 1K human-object-human motion sequences captured in the real world, we enrich CORE4D by contributing an iterative collaboration retargeting strategy to augment motions to a variety of novel objects. Leveraging this approach, CORE4D comprises a total of 11K collaboration sequences spanning 3K real and virtual object shapes. Benefiting from extensive motion patterns provided by CORE4D, we benchmark two tasks aiming at generating human-object interaction: human-object motion forecasting and interaction synthesis. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our collaboration retargeting strategy and indicate that CORE4D has posed new challenges to existing human-object interaction generation methodologies. | 2025 | ManiVideo: Generating Hand-Object Manipulation Video with Dexterous and Generalizable GraspingabstractIn this paper, we introduce ManiVideo, a novel method for generating consistent and temporally coherent bimanual hand-object manipulation videos from given motion sequences of hands and objects. The core idea of ManiVideo is the construction of a multi-layer occlusion (MLO) representation that learns 3D occlusion relationships from occlusion-free normal maps and occlusion confidence maps. By embedding the MLO structure into the UNet in two forms, the model enhances the 3D consistency of dexterous hand-object manipulation. To further achieve the generalizable grasping of objects, we integrate Objaverse, a large-scale 3D object dataset, to address the scarcity of video data, thereby facilitating the learning of extensive object consistency. Additionally, we propose an innovative training strategy that effectively integrates multiple datasets, supporting downstream tasks such as human-centric hand-object manipulation video generation. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that our approach not only achieves video generation with plausible hand-object interaction and generalizable objects, but also outperforms existing SOTA methods. | 2025 | Articulated Motion-Aware NeRF for 3D Dynamic Appearance and Geometry Reconstruction by Implicit Motion StatesabstractWe propose a self-supervised approach for 3D dynamic reconstruction of articulated motions based on Generative Adversarial Networks and Neural Radiance Fields. Our method reconstructs articulated objects and recover their continuous motions and attributes from an unordered, discontinuous image set. Notably, we treat motion states as time-independent, recognizing that articulated objects can exhibit identical motions at different times. The key insight of our approach utilizes generative adversarial networks to create a continuous implicit motion state space. Initially, we employ a motion network extracts discrete motion states from images as anchors. These anchors are then expanded across the latent space using generative adversarial networks. Subsequently, motion state latent codes are input into motion-aware neural radiance fields for dynamic appearance and geometry reconstruction. To deduce motion attributes from the continuously generated motions, we adopt a cluster-based strategy. We thoroughly evaluate and validate our method on both synthesized and real data, demonstrating superior fidelity in appearances, geometries, and motion attributes of articulated objects compared to state-of-the-art methods. | 2024 | TACO: Benchmarking Generalizable Bimanual Tool-ACtion-Object UnderstandingabstractHumans commonly work with multiple objects in daily life and can intuitively transfer manipulation skills to novel objects by understanding object functional regularities. However, existing technical approaches for analyzing and synthesizing hand-object manipulation are mostly limited to handling a single hand and object due to the lack of data support. To address this, we construct TACO, an extensive bimanual hand-object-interaction dataset spanning a large variety of tool-action-object compositions for daily human activities. TACO contains 2.5K motion sequences paired with third-person and egocentric views, precise hand-object 3D meshes, and action labels. To rapidly expand the data scale, we present a fully automatic data acquisition pipeline combining multi-view sensing with an optical motion capture system. With the vast research fields provided by TACO, we benchmark three generalizable hand-object-interaction tasks: compositional action recognition, generalizable hand-object motion forecasting, and cooperative grasp synthesis. Extensive experiments re-veal new insights, challenges, and opportunities for advancing the studies of generalizable hand-object motion anal-ysis and synthesis. | 2023 | CAMS: CAnonicalized Manipulation Spaces for Category-Level Functional Hand-Object Manipulation SynthesisabstractIn this work, we focus on a novel task of category-level functional hand-object manipulation synthesis covering both rigid and articulated object categories. Given an object geometry, an initial human hand pose as well as a sparse control sequence of object poses, our goal is to generate a physically reasonable hand-object manipulation sequence that performs like human beings. To address such a challenge, we first design CAnonicalized Manipulation Spaces (CAMS), a two-level space hierarchy that canonicalizes the hand poses in an object-centric and contact-centric view. Benefiting from the representation capability of CAMS, we then present a two-stage framework for synthesizing human-like manipulation animations. Our framework achieves state-of-the-art performance for both rigid and articulated categories with impressive visual effects. | 2023 | UniDexGrasp++: Improving Dexterous Grasping Policy Learning via Geometry-aware Curriculum and Iterative Generalist-Specialist LearningabstractWe propose a novel, object-agnostic method for learning a universal policy for dexterous object grasping from realistic point cloud observations and proprioceptive information under a table-top setting, namely UniDexGrasp++. To address the challenge of learning the vision-based policy across thousands of object instances, we propose Geometry-aware Curriculum Learning (GeoCurriculum) and Geometry-aware iterative Generalist-Specialist Learning (GiGSL) which leverage the geometry feature of the task and significantly improve the generalizability. With our proposed techniques, our final policy shows universal dexterous grasping on thousands of object instances with 85.4% and 78.2% success rate on the train set and test set which outperforms the state-of-the-art baseline UniDexGrasp by 11.7% and 11.3%, respectively. | 2022 | HOI4D: A 4D Egocentric Dataset for Category-Level Human-Object InteractionabstractWe present HOI4D, a large-scale 4D egocentric dataset with rich annotations, to catalyze the research of category-level human-object interaction. HOI4D consists of 2.4M RGB-D egocentric video frames over 4000 sequences col-lected by 9 participants interacting with 800 different ob-ject instances from 16 categories over 610 different indoor rooms. Frame-wise annotations for panoptic segmentation, motion segmentation, 3D hand pose, category-level object pose and hand action have also been provided, together with reconstructed object meshes and scene point clouds. With HOI4D, we establish three benchmarking tasks to pro-mote category-level HOI from 4D visual signals including semantic segmentation of 4D dynamic point cloud se-quences, category-level object pose tracking, and egocen-tric action segmentation with diverse interaction targets. In-depth analysis shows HOI4D poses great challenges to existing methods and produces huge research opportunities.
