2006 Broadcasting Satellite Services for Mobile Reception
abstract
This paper intends to introduce widely the broadcasting satellite services using Digital System E of Recommendation ITU-R BO.1130. The system is designed to provide high-quality audio and multimedia and data broadcasting services to mobile receivers, handheld and vehicular. The geostationary satellite specially designed for this system was launched successfully in March 2004, followed by the inauguration of regular broadcasting services on 20 October 2004. Due to the nature of satellite broadcasting, it covers the Japanese area widely. The system also adopts complementary terrestrial on-channel repeaters for shadowed areas from the direct satellite broadcasting signal. It should be noted that the system is the world first broadcasting satellite services for handheld and vehicular receivers with high-quality audio and multimedia and data receiving capability.

2000 A proposal for and evaluation of secure key management in service operation schemes
abstract
Private data such as credit card numbers and billing data is stored in a service operation system (S-OpS), where it is usually protected by access control functions. Encryption is effective in protecting data from misuse and unauthorized access by insiders, but it is difficult to use encryption in an S-OpS because the S-OpS's very complex requirements make key management very difficult. When we use encryption in an S-OpS, it is important that we protect the private keys used in S-OpS processes, but this is very difficult. This paper therefore describes both an improved cryptographic scheme and a secure scheme for the management of private keys. It also presents the results obtained when the performance and security of a prototype system were evaluated.

1998 Requirements and implementation of service-ordering and billing system for multimedia services
abstract
As service providers (SPs) strive to offer more efficient and higher-quality multimedia services to their customers, the service ordering and billing functions become more and more important. In this paper we introduce improved service-ordering and billing systems, focusing on their requirements and implementation. The main requirements of an SP for service-ordering and billing using multimedia services are described. We illustrate our four approaches to system implementation. Together these satisfy the requirements.
