1997 A Hybrid Performance Management Scheme for OAM Function Supporting QoS Management in ATM Network
abstract
This paper proposes a new scheme for an ATM OAM performance management function, hybrid performance management scheme. The performance management OAM function monitors network performance using OAM cells and executes mechanisms to prevent traffic congestion with relation to traffic control functions. For this purpose, the proposed scheme enables the switching system to perform different performance monitoring mechanisms according to the OAM management boundary of end-to-end or segment definition and also makes it possible to provide the detail information in traffic control functions detail.

1997 An ABR Feedback Control Scheme with Tracking
abstract
We propose an explicit-rate ABR feedback control scheme, UT (uniform tracking). The distinct feature of UT is that it achieves max-min fairness by tracking an effective number of sources; specific constraint information is not required. As a result, its implementation is much simpler than that of other fair control schemes; indeed, its complexity is similar to that of unfair explicit-rate controls. In the thorough simulation study, UT demonstrates its ability to scale with speed, distance, number of users (both persistent and bursty), and number of switches while remaining robust, efficient, and fair under stressing conditions with MPEG background traffic and multiple propagation delay loops.
