2024 Proactive Eavesdropping in Relay Systems via Trajectory and Power Optimization
abstract
Wireless relays can effectively extend the transmission range of information. However, if relay technology is utilized unlawfully, it can amplify potential harm. Effectively surveilling illegitimate relay links poses a challenging problem. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can proactively surveil wireless relay systems due to their flexible mobility. This work focuses on maximizing the eavesdropping rate (ER) of UAVs by jointly optimizing the trajectory and jamming power. To address this challenge, we propose a new iterative algorithm based on block coordinate descent and successive convex approximation technologies. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm significantly enhances the ER through trajectory and jamming power optimization.

2023 Filter Design and Power Allocation for Uplink Time-Reversal NOMA
abstract
The time-reversal division multiple access (TRDMA) system employs multipath channels to realize multi-user transmission via time-reversal filtering. The performance of TRDMA is affected by the correlation among users’ channels. When the correlation is high, inter-user interference (IUI) in the TRDMA system will be serious and the system capacity will be severely restricted. In this paper, we propose an uplink multiple access scheme time-reversal non-orthogonal multiple access (TR-NOMA), wherein TRDMA and power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access are combined. The base station employs a TR filter for each user to suppress IUI and applies successive interference cancellations in the detection process of users’ signals. Users’ transmit power and TR filters are jointly optimized to promote system capacity. The original optimization problem is non-convex. We decompose the optimization problem into two sub-problems: the design of TR filters and the allocation of users’ transmit power, which is solved by utilizing generalized eigenvalue decomposition and successive lower bound convex approximation, respectively. The solution to the original optimization problem is obtained by the iterative solution between the two sub-problems. Simulation results demonstrate that the sum rate of the optimized TR-NOMA system is significantly higher than that of the TRDMA system.

2022 On Secure NOMA-Based Terrestrial and Aerial IoT Systems
abstract
In this article, we study the secure communication performance of nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communication systems with aerial eavesdroppers. First, the ground-to-ground NOMA communications systems are considered wherein the near user is uniformly distributed in an inner disc and the far user is uniformly distributed in an outer ring within cell coverage of a base station (BS) at the center. A single eavesdropper is uniformly distributed outside the protected zone or multiple eavesdroppers are randomly dispersed and modeled as a 3-D homogeneous Poisson point process. Subsequently, the secrecy performance of the ground-to-air NOMA communications systems is investigated wherein the near user is uniformly distributed in an internal 3-D spherical cap and the far user is uniformly distributed in an external 3-D spherical cap. To enhance secrecy performance, a protected zone is introduced around the ground BS. Novel exact expressions for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) for both scenarios are derived. Finally, Monte Carlo simulation results are presented to validate the correctness of the derived analytical expressions and demonstrate the effects of system parameters on SOP of the considered system.

2021 On Secure Downlink NOMA Systems with Aerial Eavesdroppers
abstract
In this paper, we study the secure communication performance of nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communication systems in presence of aerial eavesdroppers. The security of ground-to-air NOMA communication systems is investigated wherein, utilizing stochastic geometry, the near user is uniformly distributed in an internal three-dimensional (3D) spherical cap and the far user is uniformly distributed in an external 3D spherical cap. To enhance secrecy performance, a protection zone and directional antenna are introduced. The scenarios of both a single eavesdropper and multiple eavesdroppers are considered and new exact expressions for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) under both scenarios are derived. Monte Carlo simulation results are presented to verify the correctness of the derived analytical expressions and the effects of system parameters on SOP of the considered system are investigated.

2020 Physical layer security performance analysis of the time reversal transmission system
abstract
Thanks to its characteristics of temporal compression and spatial focusing, the time reversal (TR) transmission system has the intrinsic capability of anti‐eavesdropping. This study analyses the physical layer security performance of the TR transmission system. The probability density functions and cumulative distribution functions of the signal‐to‐noise ratio of the legitimate user and eavesdropper are given. On this basis, the theoretical expressions of the ergodic capacities of the legitimate channel and the wiretap channel, and the achievable ergodic secrecy rate are derived. The bit error rates of the legitimate user and eavesdropper for binary phase‐shift keying modulation are given too. The correctness of the theoretical derivation is verified by simulation. For the legitimate user, the signal power increases as the number of paths increases, which indicates a higher diversity gain can be obtained, and the inter‐symbol interference power decreases as the up‐sampling factor increases. So, the signal‐to‐interference‐plus‐noise ratio (SINR) of the received signal can be significantly improved by appropriately reducing the spectral efficiency. However, the received signal's SINR of the eavesdropper cannot be promoted obviously. That is to say, compared with the eavesdropper, the legitimate user can achieve a higher rate and a lower BER, so secure transmission can be realised.

2020 On Secure Mixed RF-FSO Systems With TAS and Imperfect CSI
abstract
In this work, we analyze the secrecy outage performance of a dual-hop relay system composed of multipleinput- multiple-output radio-frequency (RF) links and a freespace optical (FSO) link while a multiple-antenna eavesdropper wiretaps the confidential information by decoding the received signals from the source node. The channel state information (CSI) of the RF and FSO links is considered to be outdated and imprecise, respectively. We propose four transmit antenna selection (TAS) schemes to enhance the secrecy performance of the considered systems. The secrecy outage performance with different TAS schemes is analyzed and the effects of misalignment and detection technology on the secrecy outage performance of mixed systems are studied. We derive the closed-form expressions for probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) over M´alaga channel with imperfect CSI. Then the closed-form expressions for the CDF and PDF of the equivalent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the legitimate receiver over Nakagami-m and M´alaga channels are derived. Furthermore, the bound of the effective secrecy throughput (EST) with different TAS schemes are derived. Besides, the asymptotic results for EST are investigated by exploiting the unfolding of Meijer’s G-function when the electrical SNR of FSO link approaches infinity. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulation results are presented to testify the correctness of the proposed analysis. The results illustrate that outdated CSI shows a strong effect on the secrecy performance of the mixed RF-FSO systems. In addition, increasing the number of antennas at the source cannot significantly enhance the secrecy performance of the considered systems

2018 Multi-relay cooperative transmission based on rateless codes and adaptive demodulation
abstract
A rate adaption scheme is given at the receiver using rateless codes and log‐likelihood ratio (LLR) threshold‐based adaptive demodulation (ADM). The received bits with LLR absolute values higher than the preset threshold are demodulated by the receiver, otherwise, deleted. Through the theoretical analysis of the average mutual information (MI) of the demodulated bits, the method is obtained to calculate the LLR demodulation threshold under the required error performance after decoding and the constraint of codeword length for decoding. Then, the rate adaption scheme is applied in a parallel multiple relay wireless communication system. The LLR threshold is set according to the instantaneous SNR of the received signals in order to keep the average MI per demodulated bit of each relay link the same. The demodulated bits coming from all links are combined for decoding. The 256‐QAM constellation and Raptor code are then considered as a special case to design a sample scheme. Simulation results prove the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the proposed scheme, and when it is employed by a multi‐relay transmission system, the diversity gain can be obtained, and the anti‐fading and the anti‐jamming abilities of the system are promoted.

2018 Secrecy Outage Analysis of Mixed RF-FSO Downlink SWIPT Systems
abstract
We analyze a secure dual-hop mixed radio frequency-free space optical (RF-FSO) downlink simultaneous wireless information and power transfer system. The FSO link and all RF links experience Gamma-Gamma, independent, and identical Nakagami-m fading, respectively. We analyze the effects of atmospheric turbulence, pointing error, detection technology, path loss, and energy harvesting on secrecy performance. Signalto-noise ratios at both the legitimate and illegitimate receivers are not independent since they are both simultaneously influenced by the FSO link. We derive the closed-form expression of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) as well as the asymptotic result for SOP when signal-to-noise ratios at relay and legitimate destinations tend to infinity. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to verify the accuracy of our analysis. The results show that the secrecy diversity order (SDO) depends on the fading parameter of the relay-destination link and the number of the destination's antennas. In addition, the SDO also depends on the fading parameters, the pointing error parameter, and the detection type of the FSO link.

2015 Robust data-aided SNR estimation algorithm in high dynamic environment
abstract
A robust data-aided (DA) signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation algorithm in the time domain is proposed in this paper, aiming at the volatile Doppler shift and carrier wave phase offset under dynamical scenarios for M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) over the flat-fading complex channel. The proposed algorithm exploits data aided, delay conjugate multiplies the received signal, converts Doppler shift into fixed phase factors, and overcomes the impacts of Doppler shift and carrier wave phase offset. Furthermore, the impact of noise is analyzed and simulation results show that, compared with algorithms based on the spectrum analysis (FFT), the proposed algorithm is superior in the performance, especially in the estimation accuracy under low SNR scenarios and has low complexity.

2014 Robust Power Allocation Based on Game Theory for Multi-User MIMO System with SLNR Precoding
abstract
This paper proposes an optimal non-cooperative power allocation game scheme for multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) with signal to leakage and noise ratio (SLNR) precoding. The proposed game scheme sets the value of per user SLNR and allocated power as reference for punishment price. Considering the effect of channel correlation and channel estimation error, an alternative robust power allocation scheme is presented based on the game model for per user in order to guarantee the desired QoS of the users and achieve Nash Equilibrium (NE). Simulation results show that both the schemes considerably improve the average bit error rate performance and obtain excellent sum capacity performance than other schemes in the presence of channel correlation and incomplete channel state information.
