| 2025 | Robust and Lightweight Root Cause Analysis for Microservice MetricsabstractIn microservice management, engineers analyze numerous heterogeneous performance metrics, including latency, CPU, and memory usage, to resolve incidents swiftly. Consequently, a metric-based root cause analysis (RCA) must demonstrate interpretability, accuracy, and efficiency. However, recent causal-discovery-based RCAs have been identified as having challenges in terms of accuracy and efficiency. This paper highlights the issues arising from the heterogeneity of metrics and attempts to improve causal-aware RCA while leveraging the metadata associated with the metrics. We adopt the validated concept from existing RCA methods that metrics showing greater deviations during a failure are likely the root causes. The proposed method quantifies metric deviations comparable among heterogeneous metrics and searches for propagation trees that best explain the observed deviations. Experimental results on microservice-based system benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing RCA methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency. | 2022 | Applicability Evaluation of Task Clustering Method Using Co-occurrence of OperationsabstractRegarding RPA, it is necessary to investigate the flow of the target work, and there is a method to classify the operation log into the units of work by using the operator's operation log as an input and focusing on the co-occurrence of the operation. However, the nature of the logs to which this technique is applicable is not known. In this paper, we applied this technique to different kinds of operational logs to discover the applicability of this technique. As a result, this method was not possible to classify operational logs into the unit of task when tasks of long and short operational procedures were mixed in the data. | 2021 | Evaluation of Resource Sharing Framework for Heterogeneous Network ServicesabstractResearches on cognitive networks and heterogeneous networks with different communication technologies, such as 5G/4G cellular networks, wireless LANs, are very popular nowadays. However, existing researches do not consider users' satisfaction with social cooperative behaviours. Therefore, SHaaS (Sharing framework for Heterogeneous network services as a Service) has been proposed in our previous work. In the SHaaS framework, cooperation among users and service providers is considered to improve users' satisfaction and service providers' profitability. In this paper, an evaluation model of SHaaS is proposed in the case of normal situation and network failure situation. The evaluation results show that SHaaS can improve users' satisfaction and service providers' profitability. Haruo Oishi, Kyoko Yamori, Cheng Zhang 0007, Yoshiaki Tanaka |

| 2019 | Auction Based Resource Trading Using Relation Between Telecommunication Network Failure Rate and Users' UtilityabstractThe telecommunication services market has been greatly changed because of the significantly changing of telecommunication network technologies and corresponding users' environment. The application services on the network have become more important. As the application service platform, the telecommunication network with suitable pricing and high utility are required from users. In this paper, we aim to provide telecommunication network service with quality of service that satisfies users and social welfare. The impact of reliability of telecommunication service on users' utility is studied. The failure rate of service is important, but few studies have focused on this point. The relation between the failure rate and willingness to pay (WTP) as well as willingness to accept (WTA) are clarified through questionnaire survey. The survey results show the differences regarding the failure rate between mass and business users. In addition, we propose the method to improve the sum and average of users' utility with the auction based trading among the users when the failure occurred, and show the effectiveness of the method by the simulation. | 2006 | OSS Architecture for Flexible and Efficient Process ControlabstractNetwork Service Providers (NSP) use Operations Support Systems (OSS) to improve telecommunication operations make principal business processes more efficient. Many OSSs have been implemented that are based on workflow systems. Workflow-based OSSs help reduce the lead-time. However, workflow systems inevitably include exception processes, which are hard to deal with. Telecommunication operation process flows are often changed to provide new services, and these changes cause many exception processes, which cannot follow a pre-defined flow. An exception process increases the total cost of business processes. Therefore, a radical solution is needed to deal with exception processes, and many researchers have attempted to find such a solution. However, their attempts have been unsatisfactory in terms of flexible telecommunication operations. One suggested approach involves using an allocation method with a Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP) to support various work patterns in Optical Access Network (OAN) resource allocation. This approach is superior to other workflow-based approaches in regard to flexibility. Nevertheless, certain efficiency-related problems exist if this approach is to be applied to a working system. We propose an OSS architecture that can handle processes both efficiently and flexibly. This architecture is based on an approach using a CSP and includes functions that solve the efficiency problems. We also considered the system architecture needed to use this approach and implemented a prototype system for OAN resource allocation work. This system confirms the efficiency and flexibility of our approach. Haruo Oishi, Tatsuya Nakatani, Kenichi Tayama, Shiro Ogasawara, Tetsuya Yamamura |

| 2005 | Tiny client systemabstractUse of the Internet has increased rapidly, and data communications have changed from being hobby-based to becoming essential for daily living. It is important for everybody to easily obtain a necessary information from anywhere and at any time to confidently attain a true information society infrastructure in the future. The terminals are one of the most important elements. To obtain reliable information in the same environment anywhere and at any time, the introduction of a server-based computing (SBC) system is promising, because a SBC system accumulates and processes information in the one place. Cellular phones are also useful as terminals to easily achieve information access anywhere and at any time. To achieve an SBC system for cellular phones that can operate comfortably, we propose a light-weight protocol called the "UI component oriented protocol" and a function of speculative execution based on the prediction of user events. Moreover, we implemented a prototype system, and confirmed that our system worked quickly within the communications environment of cellular phones.
