| 2025 | Modeling and Control of Testing Device For Carpet Resilience MeasurementabstractA multifunctional testing device is designed to perform thickness measurement of carpets. Thickness loss is determined for two cases: after short-term static loading and after long-term static loading. Compression and resilience tests and measurements are performed simultaneously on five samples automatically using this testing device. Carpet thickness is measured after different loading conditions. This paper introduces the pneumatic proportional position control system utilized in a testing device. Actuation of the system is performed by using pneumatic actuators. The model is taken as a double acting pneumatic cylinder. PLC used for system automation and control. This testing device has been completed as a result of a research project. A mathematical model is also offered for the actuation system. Halil Ibrahim Çelik, Hatice Kübra Kaynak, L. Canan Dülger, B. | 2024 | Modeling and Simulation: Manufacturing of a wheelabstractThis study presents the numerical analysis of the joining of the rim and disc parts of a heavy vehicle wheel using the submerged arc welding method. A wheel model was created in real dimensions and in 3D. The welding process was modeled with heat input to the parts determined according to the welding feed rate. It was observed that the residual stresses and the deformation in the weld zone both increased significantly with the increase of the heat input. These residual stresses combine with the influence of external loads under operating conditions. They do adversely affect the fatigue strength of the construction. It was therefore concluded that heat input should be controlled during the manufacturing process. Murat Türkan, L. Canan Dülger, Cagri Unal, Begüm Acar |

| 2023 | Motion Control of Beat-Up Mechanism: GA-PID ImplementationabstractA beat up mechanism, the crank rocker type is presented for handmade carpet looms. Permanent magnet DC motor dynamics with gearbox and a beat-up mechanism's mathematical model are considered together. The simulation results and discussions are presented to evaluate the performance of crank rocker mechanism model. GA-PID controller is applied to motion control during beating up action. | 2022 | Design and Simulation of Beat Up Mechanism: Handmade Carpet LoomsabstractThe most important production steps of the handmade carpets produced still by human labor are; knotting (Turkish knot or Persian knot), shedding, picking and tightening of the carpet with a beater (called as beat up operation). Functional requirements during beat up considered. This study is then concentrated on beat up mechanism proposed for handmade carpet looms. A beat-up mechanism model performedvia Matlab/Simulink environment to verify the kinematic objectives assigned. Simulation results are included for the system with further comments on its design and motion control. Halil Ibrahim Çelik, L. Canan Dülger, Mehmet Topalbekiroglu |

| 2016 | Robotic arm dynamic and simulation with Virtual Reality Model (VRM)abstractThis paper presents a study on control and simulation of the robotic arm system. A dynamic model is designed, and a Virtual Reality Model (VRM) is built for the robot. A kinematic model is represented for the robot links and joints. A simulation module is built by using SIMULINK/SimMechanics and by estimation of motor-gear transfer function. A PID control system (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) is then applied. The virtual model is created by Simulink 3D Animation. OWI-535 robotic arm is an articulated manipulator robot, it was chosen as testing system. The robot was developed with an interface control system. The interface control system is built to perform closed-loop control. Different trajectories were implemented on the robot. The results were shown for the simulated system and real robot in designing accuracy and system control response. Robot followed the desired trajectories efficiently. Ahmed R. J. Almusawi, L. | 2016 | Robotics and servo press control applications: Experimental implementationsabstractThree case studies are performed in robotics and industrial servo press mechanism by using system's nonlinear dynamics. Robotic systems and servo crank press are currently available in Mechanical Engineering Department's laboratory (Gaziantep University/Turkey). Identification and simulation studies are carried out to get dynamic behavior of the systems of interest. Different motion trajectories are applied according to the requirements for all. Soft computing techniques are studied on these systems. Traditional PID is also applied. Control techniques are implemented as PSO-NN (Particle Swarm Optimization-Neural Network), BP (Back Propagation), PSO-PID; PID and also CasFF (Cascade Feed-Forward) control in laboratory testing in this study. All of the studies are given as experimental base herein. L. Canan Dülger, M. Taylan Das, R. Halicioglu, Sadettin Kapucu, Mehmet Topalbekiroglu |
