2006 Experiences of applying SPC techniques to software development processes
abstract
Experiences of applying SPC techniques to software development processes are described. Several real examples to apply SPC in Hitachi Software are given. Measures, control charts, and analysis judgment are given. Characteristics of software development processes, their influence on SPC, and lessons learned when applying SPC to software processes are described. In particular, the importance of self-directed and proactive improvement is discussed.

1998 Application of Design Patterns for the Self-Development of a Java Preprocessor
abstract
An application of design patterns in the domain of language processing is presented. The target of the paper is a Java preprocessor which enables one, not only to add new features to the Java language but also to rewrite existing Java programs. Making use of several design patterns, including Reflection Architectural Pattern, we successfully create a framework for language processing in Java. In particular we design and implement a core language extension of Java so that self development and maintenance of the framework are possible. Several applications of the Java preprocessor and the framework are described, which include enumeration type definition, method tracer, and generic type definition mechanism.

1997 Management of Object Oriented Development based on Ranked Use Cases
abstract
While object orientation (OO) is advocated to give a better solution to most software engineering problems, management of OO software development itself seems to have not been firmly established yet. We extend the use of the case model to the development management of utilizing ranking information associated with each use case. This model provides strong traceability and improves the understanding of the software being developed and what the customer needs. Various measurements related to use cases can be used for progress management. The process and organizational hierarchy to establish and enhance frameworks is also proposed. Development processes which incorporate the use case model and the surrounding organizations and their roles are discussed. Case studies for mid sized, actual, real life projects were conducted and their results were favorable.
