2018 Load Balancing and Collision Avoidance Using Opportunistic Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks
abstract
In this paper modified opportunistic routing (MORR) protocol is propose, which focuses on addressing routing issues for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for prolonging network lifetime and load balancing by selecting forwarder nodes, which have maximum residual energy so that network lifetime is enhanced. Furthermore, throughout the selection of forwarder node, channel interference is also taken into account to offer consistent communication. Consequently proposed scheme minimizes the chances of collision and packet duplication at the network layer by controlling number of forwarders and transmitters. Simulation results show that our scheme outperforms in term of average number of transmissions per packet, packet delay, energy consumption and residual energy as compared to baseline solution.

2015 Response Time Based Optimal Web Service Selection
abstract
Selecting an optimal web service among a list of functionally equivalent web services still remains a challenging issue. For Internet services, the presence of low-performance servers, high latency or overall poor service quality can translate into lost sales, user frustration, and customers lost. In this paper, we propose a novel method for QoS metrification based on Hidden Markov Models (HMM), which further suggests an optimal path for the execution of user requests. The technique we show can be used to measure and predict the behavior of Web Services in terms of response time, and can thus be used to rank services quantitatively rather than just qualitatively. We demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of our methodology by drawing experiments on real world data. The results have shown how our proposed method can help the user to automatically select the most reliable Web Service taking into account several metrics, among them, system predictability and response time variability. Later ROC curve shows a 12 percent improvement in prediction accuracy using HMM.

2010 Concept-based partitioning for large multidomain multifunctional embedded systems
abstract
Hardware-software partitioning is an important phase in embedded systems. Decisions made during this phase impact the quality, cost, performance, and the delivery date of the final product. Over the past decade or more, various partitioning approaches have been proposed. A majority operate at a relatively fine granularity and use a low-level executable specification as the starting point. This presents problems if the context is families of industrial products with frequent release of upgraded or new members. Managing complexity using a low-level specification is extremely challenging and impacts developer productivity. Designing using a high-level specification and component-based development, although a better option, imposes component integration and replacement problems during system evolution and new product release. A new approach termed Concept-Based Partitioning is presented that focuses on system evolution, product lines, and large-scale reuse when partitioning. Beginning with information from UML 2.0 sequence diagrams and a concept repository concepts are identified and used as the unit of partitioning within a specification. A methodology for the refinement of interpart communication in the system specification using sequence diagrams is also presented. Change localization during system evolution, composability during large-scale reuse, and provision for configurable feature variations for a product line are facilitated by a Generic Adaptive Layer (GAL) around selected concepts. The methodology was applied on a subsystem of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) using various concepts which improved the composability of concepts while keeping performance and size overhead within the 2% range.

2006 Faster exploration of high level design alternatives using UML for better partitions
abstract
Partitioning is a time consuming and computationally complex optimization problem in the codesign of hardware software systems. The stringent time-to-market requirements have resulted in truncating this step resulting in sub-optimal solutions being offered to consumers. To obtain the true global minima, which translates to finding the best solution available, a new methodology is needed that can achieve this goal in a minimal time. An approach is presented that forms a basis for design space exploration from a partitioning perspective using UML2.0

2005 Design Refinement for Efficient Cluste ing of Objects in Embedded Systems
abstract
Hardware software co-design seeks to meet performance objectives via a combination of hardware and software modules. One difficulty in reaching these objectives lies in lack of cohesion and increased coupling amongst the implemented modules that results in an increased inter module communication cost. While most of the traditional partitioning approaches are initiated in the post-coding phase, we suggest the design stage may be a better focus of attention in addressing this problem. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that uses information from sequence diagrams in UML designs to help ease the partitioning problem.
