| 2024 | Impacts of online-community-based collaborative learning on project scope appropriateness and stakeholder managementabstractMost corporate projects suffer from the problem of scope creep, despite of the methodologies available to cope with this issue. Organisations have utilised computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) approaches to enhance employees’ project management (PM) training. Most prior studies on CSCL and PM focus on the application of CSCL for PM training in the contexts of educational institutions. It is thus uncertain that their findings are applicable to the real-world PM situations. Additionally, those studies did not specifically investigate the effects of key PM-related CSCL features on PM learning. Therefore, this study identifies and empirically investigate the effects of the key CSCL features, namely goal orientation, individual accountability, and structured interaction, on the level of scope completeness and the effectiveness of stakeholder management (SHM) in a context in which an online case-based collaborative learning system was implemented for PM learning purposes. Data collected from 264 PM professionals were analyzed using the method of partial least squares to examine the proposed research model. The results show that all the three key CSCL features have a significant direct/indirect influence on the level of scope completeness and the SHM effectiveness. Implications for theory and practice, research limitations, and future research directions are discussed correspondingly. Wei-Tsong Wang, Ling-Jiun Chen |

| 2024 | Effects of Social Connection on Dual Attitudes and Continuance Intentions of Using Social MediaabstractPrior studies that specifically investigate the effects of social connections on the continuous adoption of social media applications (SMAs) are scarce. Based on the social contagion theory (SCT) and dual-attitude perspective, this study develops and validates a research model that explains the staged influences of social connection factors (i.e., pre- and post-usage cohesion and structural equivalence) on users’ explicit attitude, intention to use, implicit attitudes and continuance intention regarding the use of the SMAs. Survey data collected from both pre-usage and post-usage stages of 302 SMA users were examined using the technique of partial least squares to validate the research model. The results indicate that pre-usage cohesion and structural equivalence are significant antecedents of SMA users’ explicit attitude and intention to use. Additionally, these factors, along with post-usage cohesion and structural equivalence, significantly influence SMA users’ implicit attitude and continuance intention. In summary, by adopting the SCT and dual-attitude perspective, this study is among the first group of studies that examine whether social connection factors have influences on people’s adoption of SMAs at both pre-usage and post-usage stages. Implications for theory and for practices are discussed subsequently. Shin-Horng Chen, Wei-Tsong Wang, Yi-Jen Wang |

| 2024 | Analysis of Factors Influencing We-Intention in Healthcare Applications Based on the AISAS ModelabstractThe purpose of this study is to develop and test a theoretical model that can be used to predict the influencing factors affecting users’ use of healthcare applications. Our research structure model is based on the Attention-Interest-Search-Action-Share (AISAS) model, combined with the indicators of personal intention and social identity, to predict we-intention. The proposed model was tested through a survey of 353 users of healthcare applications from mainland China and Taiwan. Based on the five characteristics of the AISAS model, this study integrates three levels of influencing factors (individual dimension, social dimension, and application design dimension) that affect users’ use of healthcare applications. It also verifies that users have both personal intention and we-intention when using healthcare applications. This research contributes to the theoretical development of the AISAS model, we-intention and healthcare applications. Finally, implications for theory and practice and directions for future research are discussed. Ming Yuan Ding, Wei-Tsong Wang |

| 2024 | Development of a Visual Search Service Effectiveness Scale for Assessing Image Search Effectiveness: A Behavioral and Technological PerspectiveabstractDespite the potential of visual search services (VSSs) to increase the size of the global visual search market, there is no VSS effectiveness measurement scale in the literature. Prior studies of traditional text-based search services have aimed to establish a method for assessing the performance of web search services. Our primary objective is to integrate state-of-the-art research in the fields of information-seeking behavior, visual search performance, and human–computer interaction pertaining to evaluating VSS effectiveness. The key dimensions of VSS effectiveness were identified by adopting the Delphi method, and the associated measures were developed. Then, survey data were collected from 426 VSS users, and the developed measures of VSS effectiveness were validated using the exploratory factor analysis technique. Finally, the scale developed includes 19 measures belonging to three key dimensions: user dependency on VSSs, the perceived ability to use VSSs, and VSS retrieval performance. The nomological validity of the developed scale’s three dimensions was also ensured and was evident from the positive correlations between them and VSS user continuance intention. Overall, we find that the better the functionality of a VSS is, the more users with a high perceived ability can acquire better information. This study also contributes to the theory development in the literature on search service effectiveness measures in terms of highlighting the VSS feature to be considered when providing a VSS that is suitable for the user’s preference. | 2013 | Technology-Based Service Encounters Using Self-Service Technologies in the Healthcare IndustryabstractAlthough there have been studies discussing the influence of technology-based services on the overall service efficiency and quality of organizations in various industries, very little effort has been devoted to investigating this issue in the healthcare industry. Hospital image is considered to be a crucial factor influencing patients' choice of hospitals, but few studies specifically examine its association with technology-based services. By consulting the model of the European Customer Satisfaction Index, a research model for evaluating the impact of the use of technology-based services on hospital image, patient satisfaction, and patient loyalty in the healthcare industry is developed and examined in this study using survey data collected from 738 patients at two medical centers with an online appointment system. The research results confirm the importance of providing quality, technology-based services in enhancing hospital image, patient satisfaction, and patient loyalty. The implications of this research and suggestions for future work are also discussed. Wei-Tsong Wang, Shih-Yu Cheng, Lin-Yo Huang |
