| 2025 | M3ANet: Multi-scale and Multi-Modal Alignment Network for Brain-Assisted Target Speaker ExtractionabstractThe brain-assisted target speaker extraction (TSE) aims to extract the attended speech from mixed speech by utilizing the brain neural activities, for example Electroencephalography (EEG). However, existing models overlook the issue of temporal misalignment between speech and EEG modalities, which hampers TSE performance. In addition, the speech encoder in current models typically uses basic temporal operations (e.g., one-dimensional convolution), which are unable to effectively extract target speaker information. To address these issues, this paper proposes a multi-scale and multi-modal alignment network (M3ANet) for brain-assisted TSE. Specifically, to eliminate the temporal inconsistency between EEG and speech modalities, the modal alignment module that uses a contrastive learning strategy is applied to align the temporal features of both modalities. Additionally, to fully extract speech information, multi-scale convolutions with GroupMamba modules are used as the speech encoder, which scans speech features at each scale from different directions, enabling the model to capture deep sequence information. Experimental results on three publicly available datasets show that the proposed model outperforms current state-of-the-art methods across various evaluation metrics, highlighting the effectiveness of our proposed method. | 2025 | ListenNet: A Lightweight Spatio-Temporal Enhancement Nested Network for Auditory Attention DetectionabstractAuditory attention detection (AAD) aims to identify the direction of the attended speaker in multi-speaker environments from brain signals, such as Electroencephalography (EEG) signals. However, existing EEG-based AAD methods overlook the spatio-temporal dependencies of EEG signals, limiting their decoding and generalization abilities. To address these issues, this paper proposes a Lightweight Spatio-Temporal Enhancement Nested Network (ListenNet) for AAD. The ListenNet has three key components: Spatio-temporal Dependency Encoder (STDE), Multi-scale Temporal Enhancement (MSTE), and Cross-Nested Attention (CNA). The STDE reconstructs dependencies between consecutive time windows across channels, improving the robustness of dynamic pattern extraction. The MSTE captures temporal features at multiple scales to represent both fine-grained and long-range temporal patterns. In addition, the CNA integrates hierarchical features more effectively through novel dynamic attention mechanisms to capture deep spatio-temporal correlations. Experimental results on three public datasets demonstrate the superiority of ListenNet over state-of-the-art methods in both subject-dependent and challenging subject-independent settings, while reducing the trainable parameter count by approximately 7 times. | 2025 | MHANet: Multi-scale Hybrid Attention Network for Auditory Attention DetectionabstractAuditory attention detection (AAD) aims to detect the target speaker in a multi-talker environment from brain signals, such as electroencephalography (EEG), which has made great progress. However, most AAD methods solely utilize attention mechanisms sequentially and overlook valuable multi-scale contextual information within EEG signals, limiting their ability to capture long-short range spatiotemporal dependencies simultaneously. To address these issues, this paper proposes a multi-scale hybrid attention network (MHANet) for AAD, which consists of the multi-scale hybrid attention (MHA) module and the spatiotemporal convolution (STC) module. Specifically, MHA combines channel attention and multi-scale temporal and global attention mechanisms. This effectively extracts multi-scale temporal patterns within EEG signals and captures long-short range spatiotemporal dependencies simultaneously. To further improve the performance of AAD, STC utilizes temporal and spatial convolutions to aggregate expressive spatiotemporal representations. Experimental results show that the proposed MHANet achieves state-of-the-art performance with fewer trainable parameters across three datasets, 3 times lower than that of the most advanced model. | 2025 | UniqueSplat: View-Conditioned 3D Gaussian Splatting for Generalizable 3D ReconstructionabstractIn this paper, we propose UniqueSplat, a view-conditioned feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting model to reconstruct customized 3D radiance fields for each view query. Existing feed-forward methods such as pixelSplat and MVSplat aim to generate fixed Gaussians across all views of each scene by minimizing the error between rendered views and ground-truth images. However, such fixed Gaussians generally render images from all views and lack the ability to adapt to specific viewpoints, as they do not incorporate target view information when predicting Gaussians. To address this, our UniqueSplat learns the view-conditioned information as a prior and incorporates this knowledge into network parameters, so that Gaussians are dynamically adjusted in accordance with different views. Specifically, we propose a two-branch view-conditioned hyperNetwork to simultaneously learn view-agnostic embeddings and view-specific knowledge, which not only explores the shareable knowledge from various views, but also adapts the model to specific views at test time. Extensive experiments on widely-used datasets including RealEstate10K, ACID and DTU demonstrate the superiority of UniqueSplat over the state-of-the-art methods. Moreover, UniqueSplat encouragingly outperforms existing methods in cross-dataset evaluation, showing its notable generalization ability. Haixu Song, Xiaoke Yang, Jiwen Lu, Yueqi Duan |

| 2024 | AdaForensics: Learning A Characteristic-aware Adaptive Deepfake DetectorabstractIn this paper, we propose a characteristic-aware adaptive network named AdaForensics for deepfake detection. Most existing methods learn a fixed network to detect deepfakes based on carefully-designed network architectures. However, these methods employ the same deepfake detector for all the images despite of various facial characteristic, which fail to provide customized forgery detection for different individuals. To address this, our AdaForensics simultaneously learns characteristic-agnostic and characteristic-specific embeddings, where the detector dynamically adapts to varying faces with our designed hypernetwork on the fly. More specifically, our AdaForensics not only explores the shareable abstractions from various deepfake images, but also adapts the detector to the given characteristic at test time. To achieve this, we propose a two-branch HyperNetwork to learn an adaptive deepfake detector, which automatically adjusts the parameters based on characteristic of the input. Extensive experiments on widely-used datasets including FaceForensics, Celeb-DF and DFDC demonstrate our AdaForensics outperforms the state-of-the-art works. | 2024 | DARNet: Dual Attention Refinement Network with Spatiotemporal Construction for Auditory Attention DetectionabstractAt a cocktail party, humans exhibit an impressive ability to direct their attention. The auditory attention detection (AAD) approach seeks to identify the attended speaker by analyzing brain signals, such as EEG signals.
However, current AAD algorithms overlook the spatial distribution information within EEG signals and lack the ability to capture long-range latent dependencies, limiting the model's ability to decode brain activity.
To address these issues, this paper proposes a dual attention refinement network with spatiotemporal construction for AAD, named DARNet, which consists of the spatiotemporal construction module, dual attention refinement module, and feature fusion \& classifier module. Specifically, the spatiotemporal construction module aims to construct more expressive spatiotemporal feature representations, by capturing the spatial distribution characteristics of EEG signals. The dual attention refinement module aims to extract different levels of temporal patterns in EEG signals and enhance the model's ability to capture long-range latent dependencies. The feature fusion \& classifier module aims to aggregate temporal patterns and dependencies from different levels and obtain the final classification results.
The experimental results indicate that DARNet achieved excellent classification performance, particularly under short decision windows. While maintaining excellent classification performance, DARNet significantly reduces the number of required parameters. Compared to the state-of-the-art models, DARNet reduces the parameter count by 91\%. Code is available at: https://github.com/fchest/DARNet.git. Cunhang Fan, Xiaoke Yang, Jianhua Tao 0001, Zhao Lv |

| 2021 | Efficient and Scalable Structure Learning for Bayesian Networks: Algorithms and ApplicationsabstractStructure Learning for Bayesian network (BN) is an important problem with extensive research. It plays central roles in a wide variety of applications in Alibaba Group. However, existing structure learning algorithms suffer from considerable limitations in real-world applications due to their low efficiency and poor scalability. To resolve this, we propose a new structure learning algorithm LEAST, which comprehensively fulfills our business requirements as it attains high accuracy, efficiency and scalability at the same time. The core idea of LEAST is to formulate the structure learning into a continuous constrained optimization problem, with a novel differentiable constraint function measuring the acyclicity of the resulting graph. Unlike with existing work, our constraint function is built on the spectral radius of the graph and could be evaluated in near linear time w.r.t. the graph node size. Based on it, LEAST can be efficiently implemented with low storage overhead. According to our benchmark evaluation, LEAST runs 1-2 orders of magnitude faster than state-of-the-art method with comparable accuracy, and it is able to scale on BNs with up to hundreds of thousands of variables. In our production environment, LEAST is deployed and serves for more than 20 applications with thousands of executions per day. We describe a concrete scenario in a ticket booking service in Alibaba, where LEAST is applied to build a near real-time automatic anomaly detection and root error cause analysis system. We also show that LEAST unlocks the possibility of applying BN structure learning in new areas, such as large-scale gene expression data analysis and explainable recommendation system. | 2018 | Regularized Discriminant Analysis: A Large Dimensional StudyabstractThis paper focuses on studying the performance of general regularized discriminant analysis (RDA) classifiers based on the Gaussian mixture model with different means and covariances. RDA offers a rich class of regularization options, covering as special cases the regularized linear discriminant analysis (RLDA) and the regularized quadratic discriminant analysis (RQDA) classifiers. Based on fundamental results from random matrix theory, we analyze RDA under the double asymptotic regime where the data dimension and the training size both increase in a proportional way. Under the double asymptotic regime and some mild assumptions, we show that the asymptotic classification error converges to a deterministic quantity that only depends on the data statistical parameters and dimensions. This result can be leveraged to select the optimal parameters that minimize the classification error, thus yielding the optimal classifier. Numerical results are provided to validate our theoretical findings on synthetic data showing high accuracy of our derivations. Xiaoke Yang, Khalil Elkhalil, Abla Kammoun, Tareq Y.
