| 2025 | AI Integration in Vietnamese Primary Education: Educator Perspectives and Implementation ChallengesabstractThis study investigates the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in Vietnamese primary education, focusing on educators' experiences and socioeconomic factors affecting adoption. Through semi-structured interviews with 16 teachers and survey data from 160 educators across four provinces, we examined implementation patterns and challenges. The survey revealed that teachers prioritize AI tools for teaching activities (36%) and assessment (34%) over lesson preparation (30%). However, despite high interest in AI integration (82%), only 28% of educators reported adequate training. Our findings highlight that successful implementation faces three key challenges: limited teacher technological expertise, traditional academic priorities of parents, and time constraints for technology adoption. The study provides insights for education policymakers and leaders in developing teacher training programs and addressing the gap between infrastructure availability and effective AI implementation in primary education. | 2023 | Design and Development of a Personalized Recommender System of Student Question-Generation Exercises for Programming CoursesabstractComputer programming courses often face the challenge of high dropout rates, prompting educators to seek effective solutions to improve student engagement and retention. Student Question-Generation (SQG) have been explored as potential remedy to this issue, enabling advancements in computer science education. However, the majority of existing SQG support systems lack personalized features to enhance student learning. In response to this gap, the study introduces a personal recommender system of SQG exercises tailored for programming courses. The system leverages individual student preferences and SQG exercise complexities to personalize learning experiences within SQG activities. This paper presents the design of the system and its user interface and delves into motivations and technical bases underlying its development. Chih-Hung Lai, Pham-Duc Tho |

| 2010 | Can E-mails as Reminder Enhance English Learning on the English Learning System?abstractIn recent years, more and more online English learning sites have emerged. However, most language learners may be constantly busy or may lack external stimulation and reminders so that the learners in a lower on-line learning initiative cannot maintain a fixed long learning, and then affects their learning outcomes. This research, therefore, developed an English learning system with assistance of email to maintain learning activity. This system applied to college students and office workers, conducting a one-month experiment. The results revealed that the students’ learning achievement with assistance of e-mail was significantly higher than those without it. Chih-Hung Lai, Pei-Ping Luo, Hui-Chun Liu, Jing-San Liang |

| 2005 | Joyce: A Multi-Player Game on One-on-One Digital Classroom Environment for Practicing FractionsabstractThe past researches indicated that game-based learning attracts and motivates children. More and more educational games are developed for children in classroom. At the same time, a growing number of children have their own portable computing devices such as personal digital assistant (PDA), notebook, tablet PC, etc. in their life. One-on-one digital classroom environment means every student uses digital learning devices to participate learning activities. In this paper, a multi-player game system supported for one-on-one educational computing named "Joyce" is presented. In Joyce system, the game mechanisms are applied for learners to practice fractions, and dynamic grouping mechanism is implemented to enhance interaction of competitive environment. | 2002 | A Web-Based Information-Learning-Passport System Using the ARCS ModelabstractThe purpose of this study is to develop a passport system based on ARCS model for Internet users to learn basic information technology skills. The system is designed to increase learners' motivation and use it actively. Due to an assistant teaming mechanism, it can improve learners' information literacy. The teaming contents are about information technologies. The styles of the test include multi-choices and practical manipulation tasks. The system automatically evaluates the results, records the process and outcome of the test. The system adopts a role-play strategy, so that users can proceed to the test in the form of games. When a user encounters problems in the test, he/she can find relevant information to assist his/her teaming. The main users of the system are teachers and students of junior high schools and elementary schools at Taoyuan County in Taiwan. From December 1999 to June 2001, 1273783 users have already used the system. Chih-Hung Lai, Jie-Chi Yang, Bau-Lo Jheng, Tak-Wai Chan, Chin-Wen Ho, Jing-San Liang |

| 2002 | A Reading Contract System Based on Mission-Based LearningabstractThis paper describes a system, called reading contract system, based on the concept of mission-based learning. The system is developed in order to foster children's reading habits and active learning attitudes under the design of mission-based learning. Activities in a reading contract are designed to include the steps of dealing with a contract. During the process, children must take risks to fail and try to develop responsibility for accomplishing the task in limited time. The spirit conforms to the most critical characteristic of mission-based learning. The reading contract system is built on a reading website. In this learning environment, some aids and tools are provided to help children setting and achieving their learning goals on reading. The role of parents and teachers is to assist children facing their tasks and collaborate with them in the learning communities.
