2026 Semi-Supervised Synthetic Data Generation with Fine-Grained Relevance Control for Short Video Search Relevance Modeling
abstract
Synthetic data is widely adopted in embedding models to ensure diversity in training data distributions across dimensions such as difficulty, length, and language. However, existing prompt-based synthesis methods struggle to capture domain-specific data distributions, particularly in data-scarce domains, and often overlook fine-grained relevance diversity. In this paper, we present a Chinese short video dataset with 4-level relevance annotations, filling a critical resource void. Further, we propose a semi-supervised synthetic data pipeline where two collaboratively trained models generate domain-adaptive short video data with controllable relevance labels. Our method enhances relevance-level diversity by synthesizing samples for underrepresented intermediate relevance labels, resulting in a more balanced and semantically rich training data set. Extensive offline experiments show that the embedding model trained on our synthesized data outperforms those using data generated based on prompting or vanilla supervised fine-tuning(SFT). Moreover, we demonstrate that incorporating more diverse fine-grained relevance levels in training data enhances the model's sensitivity to subtle semantic distinctions, highlighting the value of fine-grained relevance supervision in embedding learning. In the search enhanced recommendation pipeline of Douyin's dual-column scenario, through online A/B testing, the proposed model increased click-through rate(CTR) by 1.45%, raised the proportion of Strong Relevance Ratio (SRR) by 4.9%, and improved the Image User Penetration Rate (IUPR) by 0.1054%.

2025 SinKD: Sinkhorn Distance Minimization for Knowledge Distillation
abstract
Knowledge distillation (KD) has been widely adopted to compress large language models (LLMs). Existing KD methods investigate various divergence measures including the Kullback-Leibler (KL), reverse KL (RKL), and Jensen-Shannon (JS) divergences. However, due to limitations inherent in their assumptions and definitions, these measures fail to deliver effective supervision when a distribution overlap exists between the teacher and the student. In this article, we show that the aforementioned KL, RKL, and JS divergences, respectively, suffer from issues of mode-averaging, mode-collapsing, and mode-underestimation, which deteriorates logits-based KD for diverse natural language processing (NLP) tasks. We propose the Sinkhorn KD (SinKD) that exploits the Sinkhorn distance to ensure a nuanced and precise assessment of the disparity between distributions of teacher and student models. Besides, thanks to the properties of the Sinkhorn metric, we get rid of sample-wise KD that restricts the perception of divergences inside each teacher-student sample pair. Instead, we propose a batch-wise reformulation to capture the geometric intricacies of distributions across samples in the high-dimensional space. A comprehensive evaluation of GLUE and SuperGLUE, in terms of comparability, validity, and generalizability, highlights our superiority over state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods on all kinds of LLMs with encoder-only, encoder-decoder, and decoder-only architectures. Codes and models are available at https://github.com/2018cx/SinKD.

2025 MMICT: Boosting Multi-Modal Fine-Tuning with In-Context Examples
abstract
Although In-Context Learning (ICL) brings remarkable performance gains to Large Language Models (LLMs), the improvements remain lower than fine-tuning on downstream tasks. This paper introduces Multi-Modal In-Context Tuning (MMICT), a novel multi-modal fine-tuning paradigm that boosts multi-modal fine-tuning by fully leveraging the promising ICL capability of Multi-Modal LLMs (MM-LLMs). We propose the Multi-Modal Hub (M-Hub), a unified module that captures various multi-modal features according to different inputs and objectives. Based on M-Hub, MMICT enables MM-LLMs to learn from in-context visual-guided textual features and subsequently generate outputs conditioned on the textual-guided visual features. Moreover, leveraging the flexibility of M-Hub, we design a variety of in-context demonstrations. Extensive experiments on a diverse range of downstream multi-modal tasks demonstrate that MMICT significantly outperforms traditional fine-tuning strategy and the vanilla ICT method that directly takes the concatenation of all information from different modalities as input. Our implementation is available at: https://github.com/KDEGroup/MMICT .

2024 SoftCLIP: Softer Cross-Modal Alignment Makes CLIP Stronger
abstract
During the preceding biennium, vision-language pre-training has achieved noteworthy success on several downstream tasks. Nevertheless, acquiring high-quality image-text pairs, where the pairs are entirely exclusive of each other, remains a challenging task, and noise exists in the commonly used datasets. To address this issue, we propose SoftCLIP, a novel approach that relaxes the strict one-to-one constraint and achieves a soft cross-modal alignment by introducing a softened target, which is generated from the fine-grained intra-modal self-similarity. The intra-modal guidance is indicative to enable two pairs have some local similarities and model many-to-many relationships between the two modalities. Besides, since the positive still dominates in the softened target distribution, we disentangle the negatives in the distribution to further boost the relation alignment with the negatives in the cross-modal learning. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of SoftCLIP. In particular, on ImageNet zero-shot classification task, using CC3M/CC12M as pre-training dataset, SoftCLIP brings a top-1 accuracy improvement of 6.8%/7.2% over the CLIP baseline.

2024 UG-STNN: A Spatial-Temporal Neural Network Based on Unsupervised Graph Representation Module for Traffic Flow Prediction
abstract
Accurate and efficient traffic flow prediction helps to build an intelligent transportation system and improve the travel experience in daily life. In this study, a new Spatial-Temporal Neural Network Based on Unsupervised Graph Representation Module (UG-STNN) is proposed to improve the graph convolution module, which uses unsupervised learning to extract features in spatial dimensions, and it can learn the structural and feature information in the graph better. Our UG-STNN uses fewer convolutional layers to reduce the number of parameters, decrease the complexity of the model, and improve performance and accuracy. From the experimental results of UG-STNN on different test datasets, the model can approach or even achieve better prediction results compared with other models, which well illustrates the accuracy and stability of the UG-STNN model.

2022 Multi-dataset Training of Transformers for Robust Action Recognition
abstract
We study the task of robust feature representations, aiming to generalize well on multiple datasets for action recognition. We build our method on Transformers for its efficacy. Although we have witnessed great progress for video action recognition in the past decade, it remains challenging yet valuable how to train a single model that can perform well across multiple datasets. Here, we propose a novel multi-dataset training paradigm, MultiTrain, with the design of two new loss terms, namely informative loss and projection loss, aiming tolearn robust representations for action recognition. In particular, the informative loss maximizes the expressiveness of the feature embedding while the projection loss for each dataset mines the intrinsic relations between classes across datasets. We verify the effectiveness of our method on five challenging datasets, Kinetics-400, Kinetics-700, Moments-in-Time, Activitynet and Something-something-v2 datasets. Extensive experimental results show that our method can consistently improve state-of-the-art performance. Code and models are released.

2021 One for More: Selecting Generalizable Samples for Generalizable ReID Model
abstract
Current training objectives of existing person Re-IDentification (ReID) models only ensure that the loss of the model decreases on selected training batch, with no regards to the performance on samples outside the batch. It will inevitably cause the model to over-fit the data in the dominant position (e.g., head data in imbalanced class, easy samples or noisy samples). The latest resampling methods address the issue by designing specific criterion to select specific samples that trains the model generalize more on certain type of data (e.g., hard samples, tail data), which is not adaptive to the inconsistent real world ReID data distributions. Therefore, instead of simply presuming on what samples are generalizable, this paper proposes a one-for-more training objective that directly takes the generalization ability of selected samples as a loss function and learn a sampler to automatically select generalizable samples. More importantly, our proposed one-for-more based sampler can be seamlessly integrated into the ReID training framework which is able to simultaneously train ReID models and the sampler in an end-to-end fashion. The experimental results show that our method can effectively improve the ReID model training and boost the performance of ReID models.

2009 Service token for identity access management
abstract
This paper proposes a new token structure for efficient handling of identity access management for online composite software services. With the requirement of ¿Single Sign-On (SSO)¿ for atomic services in a given composite service, this token structure binds service attributes, including workflow, providers, users, operator permission, and operation environment, together in its creation process. The token can be viewed as a deciphered string produced by IDP (identity provider) and consumed by SP (service provider). The concept of conference key distribution is also used to distribute the token and to secure the transportation procedure. Furthermore, the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is adopted to support the exchange of authentication and authorization information between SPs and IDPs. Finally, we apply our service token concept to SourceID Liberty 2.0 (an open source implementation for Liberty Alliance Project) as an illustration of its feasibility and practicability.
