2016 The evolution of ethnic cultural industry towards a cyberspace: A perspective of generalized ecosystem
abstract
Ethnic cultural industry is the important engine of promoting regional economic development. Due to limited consumption ability in the local market, the most potential consumers of ethnic cultural products and services are mainly from economic developed areas. Therefore, how to improve its industrial influence forces and market scale through Internet has been the key development strategy. However, a series of issues such as cross-cultural cognition, refactoring of industrial chain, and evolutionary pattern should be studied systematically in the transformation process. Based on a comprehensive summary of the existing researches, this paper analyzed the structure, ecological chain, and sustainable mechanism of ethnic cultural industry from the perspective of generalized ecosystem, and discussed the above issues in its evolution towards a cyberspace. For the reference, a case study of Naxi ethnic culture industry in western China was offered.

1997 Using Directed Hypergraphs to Verity Rule-Based Expert Systems
abstract
Rule-based representation techniques have become popular for storage and manipulation of domain knowledge in expert systems. It is important that systems using such a representation are verified for accuracy before implementation. In recent years, graphical techniques have been found to provide a good framework for the detection of errors that may appear in a rule base. The authors present a graphical representation scheme that: 1) captures complex dependencies across clauses in a rule base in a compact yet intuitively clear manner and 2) is easily automated to detect structural errors in a rigorous fashion. Their technique uses a directed hypergraph to accurately detect the different types of structural errors that appear in a rule base. The technique allows rules to be represented in a manner that clearly identifies complex dependencies across compound clauses. Subsequently, the verification procedure can detect errors in an accurate fashion by using simple operations on the adjacency matrix of the directed hypergraph. The technique is shown to have a computational complexity that is comparable to that of other graphical techniques. The graphical representation coupled with the associated matrix operations illustrate how directed hypergraphs are a very appropriate representation technique for the verification task.

1995 Dynamic Behavior of Bradford's Law
abstract
This paper examines two problems associated with Bradford's law: (1) Since empirical data deviate from the law in many applications, what are the significant factors influencing the Bradford graphs? (2) What will be the evolution over time of the Bradford graphs? A computational analysis of the two problems is made based on Herbert Simon's model. Several significant findings about the dynamic behavior of Bradford's law are identified. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

1989 A type-token identity in the Simon-Yule model of text
abstract
There are three significant results in this paper. First, we establish a type-token identity relating the type-token ratio and the bilogarithmic type-token ratio. The plays of Shakespeare and other interesting texts serve as demonstrative examples. Second, the Simon-Yule model of Zipf's law is used to derive the type-token identity and provide a promising statistical model of text generation. Third, a realistic refinement of the Simon-Yule model is made to allow for a decreasing entry rate of new words. Simulation methods are used to show that the type-token identity is preserved with this change in assumptions. © 1989 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

1986 A relationship between Lotka's Law, Bradford's Law, and Zipf's Law
abstract
A common functional relationship among Lotka's law, Bradford's law, and Zipf's law is derived. The proof takes explicit account of the sequences of observed values of the variables by means of an index. This approach results in a more realistic and precise formulation of each law. © 1986 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
