| 2026 | A Representation-Decision Decoupling Framework for Single-Channel Sleep Staging via Bayesian-Optimized Hybrid LearningabstractThis brief presents SleepNet-XGB, a lightweight hybrid framework for automatic sleep stage classification from single-channel EEG signals. The model decouples representation and decision learning by integrating a CNN–LSTM encoder for multiscale temporal feature extraction with a Bayesian-optimized XGBoost classifier for adaptive decision making. Thisrepresentation–decision decouplingdesign effectively balances deep feature expressiveness and classifier robustness under severe class imbalance. Evaluations on three public datasets—Sleep-EDF-20, Sleep-EDF-78, and SHHS—demonstrate superior performance, achieving up to87.7%accuracy,0.83Cohen's$\kappa$, and consistent gains in macro F1-score over recent state-of-the-art methods. With only0.26M parametersand fully automated hyperparameter tuning, SleepNet-XGB provides high generalization and computational efficiency, making it well suited for real-time and low-power wearable biomedical systems. | 2026 | HR-SemNet: A High-Resolution Network for Enhanced Small Object Detection With Local Contextual SemanticsabstractUsing higher-resolution feature maps in the network is an effective approach for detecting small objects. However, high-resolution feature maps face the challenge of lacking semantic information. This has led previous methods to rely on downsampling feature maps, applying large-kernel convolution layers, and then upsampling the feature maps to obtain semantic information. However, these methods have certain limitations: first, large kernel convolutions in deeper layers typically provide significant global semantic information, but our experiments reveal that such prominent semantic information introduces background smear, which in turn leads to overfitting. Second, deep features often contain substantial redundant information, and the features of small objects are either minimal or have disappeared, which causes a degradation in detection performance when directly relying on deep features. To address these issues, we propose a high-resolution network based on local contextual semantics (HR-SemNet). The network is built on the proposed high-resolution backbone (HRB), which replaces the traditional backbone-FPN architecture by focusing all computational resources of large kernel convolutions on high-resolution feature layers to capture clearer features of small objects. Additionally, a local context semantic module (LCSM) is employed to extract semantic information from the background, confining the semantic extraction to a local window to avoid interference from large-scale backgrounds and objects. HR-SemNet decouples small object semantics from contextual semantics, with HRB and LCSM independently extracting these features. Extensive experiments and comprehensive evaluations on the VisDrone, AI-TOD, and TinyPerson datasets validate the effectiveness of the method. On the VisDrone dataset, which contains a large number of small objects, HR-SemNet improves the mean average precision (mAP) by 4.6%, reduces the computational cost (GFLOPs) by 49.9%, and decreases the parameter count by 94.9%. | 2024 | Fusing graph transformer with multi-aggregate GCN for enhanced drug-disease associations predictionabstractBACKGROUND: Identification of potential drug-disease associations is important for both the discovery of new indications for drugs and for the reduction of unknown adverse drug reactions. Exploring the potential links between drugs and diseases is crucial for advancing biomedical research and improving healthcare. While advanced computational techniques play a vital role in revealing the connections between drugs and diseases, current research still faces challenges in the process of mining potential relationships between drugs and diseases using heterogeneous network data. RESULTS: In this study, we propose a learning framework for fusing Graph Transformer Networks and multi-aggregate graph convolutional network to learn efficient heterogenous information graph representations for drug-disease association prediction, termed WMAGT. This method extensively harnesses the capabilities of a robust graph transformer, effectively modeling the local and global interactions of nodes by integrating a graph convolutional network and a graph transformer with self-attention mechanisms in its encoder. We first integrate drug-drug, drug-disease, and disease-disease networks to construct heterogeneous information graph. Multi-aggregate graph convolutional network and graph transformer are then used in conjunction with neural collaborative filtering module to integrate information from different domains into highly effective feature representation. CONCLUSIONS: Rigorous cross-validation, ablation studies examined the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed method. Experimental results demonstrate that WMAGT outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in accurate drug-disease association prediction, which is beneficial for drug repositioning and drug safety research. | 2021 | Trustworthy Image Fusion with Deep Learning for Wireless ApplicationsabstractTo fuse infrared and visible images in wireless applications, the extraction and transmission of characteristic information security is an important task. The fused image quality depends on the effectiveness of feature extraction and the transmission of image pair characteristics. However, most fusion approaches based on deep learning do not make effective use of the features for image fusion, which results in missing semantic content in the fused image. In this paper, a novel trustworthy image fusion method is proposed to address these issues, which applies convolutional neural networks for feature extraction and blockchain technology to protect sensitive information. The new method can effectively reduce the loss of feature information by making the output of the feature extraction network in each convolutional layer to be fed to the next layer along with the production of the previous layer, and in order to ensure the similarity between the fused image and the original image, the original input image feature map is used as the input of the reconstruction network in the image reconstruction network. Compared to other methods, the experimental results show that our proposed method can achieve better quality and satisfy human perception.
