2018 Feasibility of HPA Linearization System using Amplitude Reference Pilot Signal
abstract
Broadband wireless systems need to achieve high spectrum efficiency as well as high power efficiency of HPA (High Power Amplifier). When HPA is used with low output back-off (OBO), increased ACLP (Adjacent Channel Leakage Power) results in significant ACI (Adjacent Channel Interference) especially in TDD (Time Division Duplexing) wireless systems due to a near-far problem. In order to solve this ACLP problem of HPA at a mobile terminal, this paper proposes a novel HPA linearization system using amplitude reference pilot signal which is used to measure input-output characteristics of HPA of a mobile terminal at a base station. It describes design and performance of amplitude reference pilot signal and shows ACLP improvement to confirm the feasibility of the proposed HPA linearization system.

2014 Tablet system for visual, overlay of 3D virtual object onto real environment
abstract
We propose a novel system for visual overlay of 3D virtual object onto real environment observed by tablet PC with camera. This system allows us to visually simulate the layout of virtual 3D objects such as furniture in the real environment captured by the tablet PC. For estimating the pose and position of the tablet PC in the 3D structure of the target environment, we propose and implement the 2 procedures using the captured image and using the motion sensor in tablet PC. Those performances are presented in the demonstration.

2013 A Energy Efficient Data Collection Method by Two Types Routes Selection in Triage Networks
abstract
Researches of sensor networks collecting patients' data with computerized triage tags, called Triage network are developed. In Triage networks, network topology changes frequently. Because some sensors have mobility and each sensor participates in Triage networks and secedes from them with frequency. As a result, route to a sink fails and power consumption increases by increase of the number of re-searching routes and the number of packets transmissions and receptions. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient data collection method by two types routes selection in Triage networks. In our method, to consider mobility and topology changes, two types routes, Electric power efficient route and Stable route, are used depending on mobility existence. Electric power efficient route is used where sensors with short participating time work as relay sensors positively. Stable route is used where sensors which don't secede easily and links don't fail easily work as relay sensors positively. We evaluate our proposed method using computer simulations and show its effectiveness.

2005 Multi-view face pose classification by tree-structured classifier
abstract
In this paper, a multi-view face pose classification method is introduced. Each face region is normalized by two eye-centers and mouth center, and then multi-class classifiers are trained for face pose classification. The face pose classification is organized into a tree structure that deals with off-image plane pose variation. As a specific application in video, it can estimate the face pose in each frame that results in a face pose variation trajectory, which may have important applications such as in security monitoring of car drivers. Experiment results on a very large set compared with a PCA reconstruction method as a benchmark are reported to show its effectiveness.

2001 Scalable Socket Buffer Tuning for High-Performance Web Servers
abstract
Although many research efforts have been devoted to network congestion in the face of an increase in the Internet traffic, there is little discussion on performance improvements for endhosts. We propose a new architecture, called scalable socket buffer tuning (SSBT), to provide high-performance and fair service for many TCP connections at Internet endhosts. SSBT has two major features. One is to reduce the number of memory accesses at the sender host by using some new system calls, called simple memory-copy reduction (SMR) scheme. The other is equation-based automatic TCP buffer tuning (E-ATBT), where the sender host estimates 'expected' throughput of the TCP connections through a simple mathematical equation, and assigns a send socket buffer to them according to the estimated throughput. If the socket buffer is short, the max-min fairness policy is used. We confirm the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm through both a simulation technique and an experimental system. From the experimental results, we have found that our SSBT can achieve up to a 30% gain for Web server throughput, and a fair and effective usage of the sender socket buffer can be achieved.
