2022 A study on the factors affecting original equipment manufacturers in the semiconductor industry following mergers and acquisitions
abstract
Semiconductor merger and acquisition activity increased in 2019, following two years of declines from record-breaking highs in 2015 and 2016. The cost of manufacturing and expanding production capabilities has increased dramatically as the chip manufacturing process and technology has progressed. Companies are zealous to look for targets who have the technical capabilities to quickly develop new products and applications, thereby reducing the time to market innovative products and meet customer expectations. The purpose of this research is to identify and assess the most important factors and sub-factors that explain how semiconductor mergers and acquisitions impact original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This qualitative study explains how innovations, company performance, and industry attractiveness are important elements that affect original equipment manufacturers, as evaluated by research outcomes such as sustainable value, profitability, and buyer bargaining power. The findings of this study provide a solid foundation for further research into the influence of mergers and acquisitions on semiconductor chip buyers and offer significant contribution to the current literature.

2022 A review of factors impacting Cybersecurity in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs)
abstract
Cybersecurity, a critical aspect for any organization, is now being introduced into connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV). Due to enhancements in automation and interconnectivity, cybersecurity threats have increased tremendously. The threats to CAVs, due to their unique mobility, connectivity and operational requirements, are different from those related to organizational cybersecurity. Hence, new types of threats relevant to CAVs must be identified and assessed, and robust defence mechanisms must be designed to reduce the risks arising from previously unknown threats. Furthermore, it is essential to select technologies that fit into the CAV structure and address the immediate challenges of identified potential technologies. The objective of this study is to determine and assess the most important influencing factors and sub-factors that determine the impact of cybersecurity on CAVs. Our research shows that the detection and assessment of new types of attack, robust defensive techniques and technology assessment are significant factors that will impact cybersecurity in CAVs by improving cyber-resiliency, the reliability of defensive techniques and technology selection. The scope of the research is qualitative and targeted for academic purposes. Eventually, publication may serve as a basis for cybersecurity implementation by automotive organizations.
