| 2025 | Deep Convolutional Network-Based Probabilistic Selection Approach for Multiclassification of Brain Tumors Using Magnetic Resonance ImagingabstractThe human brain’s computer‐assisted prognosis (CAP) system relies heavily on the self‐regulating characterization of tumors. Despite being extensively researched, the classification of brain tumors into meningioma, glioma, and pituitary types using magnetic resonance (MR) images presents significant challenges. Although biopsies are currently the gold standard for evaluating tumors, the need for noninvasive and accurate methods to grade brain tumors is increasing due to the risks associated with invasive biopsies. The objective is to introduce a noninvasive brain tumor grading system based on MR imaging (MRI) and deep learning (DL) utilizing probabilistic selection techniques. In the proposed method, the best three of the seven state‐of‐the‐art deep convolutional networks are chosen after extensive experimentation and combined with a probabilistic selection technique to enhance the overall performance of the proposed classification model. The results elucidate that the proposed model successfully classifies the tumor types into Glioma, Meningioma, and Pituitary achieving a sensitivity of 0.928, 0.939, and 0.992, respectively for each tumor type. Also, the precision in classifying the tumor classes is attained as 0.969, 0.932, and 0.957, respectively claiming an accuracy of 0.966, 0.956, and 0.983 for each of the three classes. The proposed model achieved an overall classification accuracy of 96.06%, surpassing the state‐of‐the‐art advanced and sophisticated techniques. Extensive experiments were performed on brain MRI datasets to demonstrate the enhanced performance of the proposed approach. The suggested probabilistic selection technique yielded promising classification results for brain tumors and exhibited the potential to leverage the strengths of various models. Rajat Mehrotra, M. | 2025 | Artificial Intelligence for Text Analysis in the Arabic and Related Middle Eastern Languages: Progress, Trends, and Future RecommendationsabstractIn the last 10 years, there has been a rise in the number of Arabic texts, which necessitates a more profound understanding of algorithms to efficiently understand and classify Arabic texts in many applications, like sentiment analysis. This paper presents a comprehensive review of recent developments in Arabic text classification (ATC) and Arabic text representation (ATR). We analyze the effectiveness of various models and techniques. Our review finds that while deep learning models, particularly transformer‐based architectures, are increasingly effective for ATC, challenges such as dialectal variations and insufficient labeled datasets remain key obstacles. However, developing suitable representation models and designing classification algorithms is still challenging for researchers, especially in Arabic. A basic introduction to ATC is provided in this survey, including preprocessing, representation, dimensionality reduction (DR), and classification with many evaluation metrics. In addition, the survey includes a qualitative and quantitative study of the ATC’s existing works. Finally, we conclude this work by exploring the limitations of the existing methods. We also mention the open challenges related to ATC, which help researchers identify new directions and challenges for ATC. | 2024 | An Intelligent COVID-19-Related Arabic Text Detection Framework Based on Transfer Learning Using Context RepresentationabstractThe misleading information during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic’s peak time is very sensitive and harmful in our community. Analyzing and detecting COVID-19 information on social media are a crucial task. Early detection of COVID-19 information is very helpful and minimizes the risk of psychological security which leads to inconvenience in daily life. In this paper, a deep ensemble transfer learning framework with an understanding of the context of Arabic text COVID-19 information is proposed. This framework is inspired to spontaneously analyze and recognize the text about COVID-19. The ArCOVID-19Vac dataset has been used to train and test our proposed model. A comprehensive experimental study for each scenario is performed. For the binary classification scenario, the proposed framework records better evaluation results with 83.0%, 84.0%, 83.0%, and 84.0% in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, respectively. For the second scenario (three classes), the overall performance is recorded with an accuracy of 82.0%, precision of 80.0%, recall of 82.0%, and F1-score of 80.0%, respectively. In the last scenario with ten classes, the best evaluation performance results are recorded with an accuracy of 67.0%, a precision of 58.0%, a recall of 67.0%, and F1-score of 59.0%, respectively. In addition, we have applied an ensemble transfer learning model for this scenario to get 64.0%, 66.0%, 66.0%, and 65.0% in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, respectively. The results show that the proposed model through transfer learning provides better results for Arabic text than all state-of-the-art methods. | 2023 | CT-Based Automatic Spine Segmentation Using Patch-Based Deep LearningabstractCT vertebral segmentation plays an essential role in various clinical applications, such as computer‐assisted surgical interventions, assessment of spinal abnormalities, and vertebral compression fractures. Automatic CT vertebral segmentation is challenging due to the overlapping shadows of thoracoabdominal structures such as the lungs, bony structures such as the ribs, and other issues such as ambiguous object borders, complicated spine architecture, patient variability, and fluctuations in image contrast. Deep learning is an emerging technique for disease diagnosis in the medical field. This study proposes a patch‐based deep learning approach to extract the discriminative features from unlabeled data using a stacked sparse autoencoder (SSAE). 2D slices from a CT volume are divided into overlapping patches fed into the model for training. A random under sampling (RUS)‐module is applied to balance the training data by selecting a subset of the majority class. SSAE uses pixel intensities alone to learn high‐level features to recognize distinctive features from image patches. Each image is subjected to a sliding window operation to express image patches using autoencoder high‐level features, which are then fed into a sigmoid layer to classify whether each patch is a vertebra or not. We validate our approach on three diverse publicly available datasets: VerSe, CSI‐Seg, and the Lumbar CT dataset. Our proposed method outperformed other models after configuration optimization by achieving 89.9% in precision, 90.2% in recall, 98.9% in accuracy, 90.4% in F‐score, 82.6% in intersection over union (IoU), and 90.2% in Dice coefficient (DC). The results of this study demonstrate that our model’s performance consistency using a variety of validation strategies is flexible, fast, and generalizable, making it suited for clinical application.
