| 2026 | BlossomRec: Block-level Fused Sparse Attention Mechanism for Sequential RecommendationsabstractTransformer structures have been widely used in sequential recommender systems (SRS). However, as user interaction histories increase, computational time and memory requirements also grow. This is mainly caused by the standard attention mechanism. Although there exist many methods employing efficient attention and SSM-based models, these approaches struggle to effectively model long sequences and may exhibit unstable performance on short sequences. To address these challenges, we design a sparse attention mechanism, BlossomRec, which models both long-term and short-term user interests through attention computation to achieve stable performance across sequences of varying lengths. Specifically, we categorize user interests in recommendation systems into long-term and short-term interests, and compute them using two distinct sparse attention patterns, with the results combined through a learnable gated output. Theoretically, it significantly reduces the number of interactions participating in attention computation. Extensive experiments on four public datasets demonstrate that BlossomRec, when integrated with state-of-the-art Transformer-based models, achieves comparable or even superior performance while significantly reducing memory usage, providing strong evidence of BlossomRec's efficiency and effectiveness. | 2026 | Detecting Miscitation on the Scholarly Web through LLM-Augmented Text-Rich Graph LearningabstractScholarly web is a vast network of knowledge connected by citations. However, this system is increasingly compromised by miscitation, where references do not support or even contradict the claims they are cited for. Current miscitation detection methods, which primarily rely on semantic similarity or network anomalies, struggle to capture the nuanced relationship between a citation's context and its place in the wider network. While large language models (LLMs) offer powerful capabilities in semantic reasoning for this task, their deployment is hindered by hallucination risks and high computational costs. In this work, we introduce LLM-Augmented Graph Learning-based Miscitation Detector (LAGMiD), a novel framework that leverages LLMs for deep semantic reasoning over citation graphs and distills this knowledge into graph neural networks (GNNs) for efficient and scalable miscitation detection. Specifically, LAGMiD introduces an evidence-chain reasoning mechanism, which uses chain-of-thought prompting, to perform multi-hop citation tracing and assess semantic fidelity. To reduce LLM inference costs, we design a knowledge distillation method aligning GNN embeddings with intermediate LLM reasoning states. A collaborative learning strategy further routes complex cases to the LLM while optimizing the GNN for structure-based generalization. Experiments on three real-world benchmarks show that LAGMiD achieves state-of-the-art miscitation detection with significantly reduced inference cost. | 2025 | Scenario-Wise Rec: A Multi-Scenario Recommendation BenchmarkabstractMulti-Scenario Recommendation (MSR) tasks, referring to building a unified model to enhance performance across all recommendation scenarios, have recently gained considerable attention. However, current research in MSR faces two significant challenges that hinder the field's development: the absence of uniform procedures for multi-scenario dataset processing, thus hindering fair comparisons, and most models being closed-source, which complicates comparisons with current SOTA models. Consequently, we introduce our benchmark, Scenario-Wise Rec, which comprises six public datasets and twelve baseline models, along with a training and evaluation pipeline. We further validate Scenario-Wise Rec on an industrial advertising dataset, underscoring its robustness. We hope the benchmark will give researchers clear insights into prior work, enabling them to develop novel models and thereby fostering a collaborative research ecosystem in MSR. | 2025 | GLINT-RU: Gated Lightweight Intelligent Recurrent Units for Sequential Recommender SystemsabstractTransformer-based models have gained significant traction in sequential recommender systems (SRSs) for their ability to capture user-item interactions effectively. However, these models often suffer from high computational costs and slow inference. Meanwhile, existing efficient SRS approaches struggle to embed high-quality semantic and positional information into latent representations. To tackle these challenges, this paper introduces GLINT-RU, a lightweight and efficient SRS leveraging a single-layer dense selective Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) module to accelerate inference. By incorporating a dense selective gate, GLINT-RU adaptively captures temporal dependencies and fine-grained positional information, generating high-quality latent representations. Additionally, a parallel mixing block infuses fine-grained positional features into user-item interactions, enhancing both recommendation quality and efficiency. Extensive experiments on three datasets demonstrate that GLINT-RU achieves superior prediction accuracy and inference speed, outperforming baselines based on RNNs, Transformers, MLPs, and SSMs. These results establish GLINT-RU as a powerful and efficient solution for SRSs. | 2025 | Generative Auto-Bidding with Value-Guided ExplorationsabstractAuto-bidding, with its strong capability to optimize bidding decisions within dynamic and competitive online environments, has become a pivotal strategy for advertising platforms. Existing approaches typically employ rule-based strategies or Reinforcement Learning (RL) techniques. However, rule-based strategies lack the flexibility to adapt to time-varying market conditions, and RL-based methods struggle to capture essential historical dependencies and observations within Markov Decision Process (MDP) frameworks. Furthermore, these approaches often face challenges in ensuring strategy adaptability across diverse advertising objectives. Additionally, as offline training methods are increasingly adopted to facilitate the deployment and maintenance of stable online strategies, the issues of documented behavioral patterns and behavioral collapse resulting from training on fixed offline datasets become increasingly significant. To address these limitations, this paper introduces a novel offline Generative Auto-bidding framework with Value-Guided Explorations (GAVE). GAVE accommodates various advertising objectives through a score-based Return-To-Go (RTG) module. Moreover, GAVE integrates an action exploration mechanism with an RTG-based evaluation method to explore novel actions while ensuring stability-preserving updates. A learnable value function is also designed to guide the direction of action exploration and mitigate Out-of-Distribution (OOD) problems. Experimental results on two offline datasets and real-world deployments demonstrate that GAVE outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in both offline evaluations and online A/B tests. By applying the core methods of this framework, we proudly secured first place in the NeurIPS 2024 competition, 'AIGB Track: Learning Auto-Bidding Agents with Generative Models'. | 2025 | LLM4Rerank: LLM-based Auto-Reranking Framework for RecommendationsabstractReranking is significant for recommender systems due to its pivotal role in refining recommendation results. Numerous reranking models have emerged to meet diverse reranking requirements in practical applications, which not only prioritize accuracy but also consider additional aspects such as diversity and fairness. However, most of the existing models struggle to strike a harmonious balance between these diverse aspects at the model level. Additionally, the scalability and personalization of these models are often limited by their complexity and a lack of attention to the varying importance of different aspects in diverse reranking scenarios. To address these issues, we propose LLM4Rerank, a comprehensive LLM-based reranking framework designed to bridge the gap between various reranking aspects while ensuring scalability and personalized performance. Specifically, we abstract different aspects into distinct nodes and construct a fully connected graph for LLM to automatically consider aspects like accuracy, diversity, fairness, and more, all in a coherent Chain-of-Thought (CoT) process. To further enhance personalization during reranking, we facilitate a customizable input mechanism that allows fine-tuning of LLM's focus on different aspects according to specific reranking needs. Experimental results on three widely used public datasets demonstrate that LLM4Rerank outperforms existing state-of-the-art reranking models across multiple aspects. | 2024 | HierRec: Scenario-Aware Hierarchical Modeling for Multi-scenario RecommendationsabstractClick-Through Rate (CTR) prediction is a fundamental technique in recommendation and advertising systems. Recent studies have shown that implementing multi-scenario recommendations contributes to strengthening information sharing and improving overall performance. However, existing multi-scenario models only consider coarse-grained explicit scenario modeling that depends on pre-defined scenario identification from manual prior rules, which is biased and sub-optimal. To address these limitations, we propose a Scenario-Aware Hierarchical Dynamic Network for Multi-Scenario Recommendations (HierRec), which perceives implicit patterns adaptively, and conducts explicit and implicit scenario modeling jointly. In particular, HierRec designs a basic scenario-oriented module based on the dynamic weight to capture scenario-specific representations. Then the hierarchical explicit and implicit scenario-aware modules are proposed to model hybrid-grained scenario information, where the multi-head implicit modeling design contributes to perceiving distinctive patterns from different perspectives. Our experiments on two public datasets and real-world industrial applications on a mainstream online advertising platform demonstrate that HierRec outperforms existing models significantly. | 2024 | SMLP4Rec: An Efficient All-MLP Architecture for Sequential RecommendationsabstractSelf-attention models have achieved the state-of-the-art performance in sequential recommender systems by capturing the sequential dependencies among user–item interactions. However, they rely on adding positional embeddings to the item sequence to retain the sequential information, which may break the semantics of item embeddings due to the heterogeneity between these two types of embeddings. In addition, most existing works assume that such dependencies exist solely in the item embeddings, but neglect their existence among the item features. In our previous study, we proposed a novel sequential recommendation model, i.e., MLP4Rec, based on the recent advances of MLP-Mixer architectures, which is naturally sensitive to the order of items in a sequence because matrix elements related to different positions of a sequence will be given different weights in training. We developed a tri-directional fusion scheme to coherently capture sequential, cross-channel, and cross-feature correlations with linear computational complexity as well as much fewer model parameters than existing self-attention methods. However, the cascading mixer structure, the large number of normalization layers between different mixer layers, and the noise generated by these operations limit the efficiency of information extraction and the effectiveness of MLP4Rec. In this extended version, we propose a novel framework – SMLP4Rec for sequential recommendation to address the aforementioned issues. The new framework changes the flawed cascading structure to a parallel mode, and integrates normalization layers to minimize their impact on the model’s efficiency while maximizing their effectiveness. As a result, the training speed and prediction accuracy of SMLP4Rec are vastly improved in comparison to MLP4Rec. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is significantly superior to the state-of-the-art approaches. The implementation code is available online to ease reproducibility. | 2023 | AutoTransfer: Instance Transfer for Cross-Domain RecommendationsabstractCross-Domain Recommendation (CDR) is a widely used approach for leveraging information from domains with rich data to assist domains with insufficient data. A key challenge of CDR research is the effective and efficient transfer of helpful information from source domain to target domain. Currently, most existing CDR methods focus on extracting implicit information from the source domain to enhance the target domain. However, the hidden structure of the extracted implicit information is highly dependent on the specific CDR model, and is therefore not easily reusable or transferable. Additionally, the extracted implicit information only appears within the intermediate substructure of specific CDRs during training and is thus not easily retained for more use. In light of these challenges, this paper proposes AutoTransfer, with an Instance Transfer Policy Network, to selectively transfers instances from source domain to target domain for improved recommendations. Specifically, AutoTransfer acts as an agent that adaptively selects a subset of informative and transferable instances from the source domain. Notably, the selected subset possesses extraordinary re-utilization property that can be saved for improving model training of various future RS models in target domain. Experimental results on two public CDR benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art CDR baselines and classic Single-Domain Recommendation (SDR) approaches. | 2023 | LinRec: Linear Attention Mechanism for Long-term Sequential Recommender SystemsabstractTransformer models have achieved remarkable success in sequential recommender systems (SRSs). However, computing the attention matrix in traditional dot-product attention mechanisms results in a quadratic complexity with sequence lengths, leading to high computational costs for long-term sequential recommendation. Motivated by the above observation, we propose a novel L2-Normalized Linear Attention for the Transformer-based Sequential Recommender Systems (LinRec), which theoretically improves efficiency while preserving the learning capabilities of the traditional dot-product attention. Specifically, by thoroughly examining the equivalence conditions of efficient attention mechanisms, we show that LinRec possesses linear complexity while preserving the property of attention mechanisms. In addition, we reveal its latent efficiency properties by interpreting the proposed LinRec mechanism through a statistical lens. Extensive experiments are conducted based on two public benchmark datasets, demonstrating that the combination of LinRec and Transformer models achieves comparable or even superior performance than state-of-the-art Transformer-based SRS models while significantly improving time and memory efficiency. | 2023 | Multi-Task Recommendations with Reinforcement LearningabstractIn recent years, Multi-task Learning (MTL) has yielded immense success in Recommender System (RS) applications [40]. However, current MTL-based recommendation models tend to disregard the session-wise patterns of user-item interactions because they are predominantly constructed based on item-wise datasets. Moreover, balancing multiple objectives has always been a challenge in this field, which is typically avoided via linear estimations in existing works. To address these issues, in this paper, we propose a Reinforcement Learning (RL) enhanced MTL framework, namely RMTL, to combine the losses of different recommendation tasks using dynamic weights. To be specific, the RMTL structure can address the two aforementioned issues by (i) constructing an MTL environment from session-wise interactions and (ii) training multi-task actor-critic network structure, which is compatible with most existing MTL-based recommendation models, and (iii) optimizing and fine-tuning the MTL loss function using the weights generated by critic networks. Experiments on two real-world public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of RMTL with a higher AUC against state-of-the-art MTL-based recommendation models. Additionally, we evaluate and validate RMTL’s compatibility and transferability across various MTL models.
