| 2026 | Multi criteria decision-making model using the circular Pythagorean fuzzy soft set modelabstract[ES]Lack of certainty is a major issue in decision-making, data analysis and modeling in many fields. Soft set theory has evolved into an effective method for addressing this issue, both due to its adaptability and its ability to blend with other models for the representation of uncertainty (inclusive of fuzzy sets and its extensions). Membership-based theories alone are incompatible with slackness in the evaluations, such as those that stem from measurement errors. This issue led to the appearance of interval-valued fuzzy sets (with only membership), and afterwards interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets and circular intuitionistic fuzzy sets (with both membership and non-membership), plus other extensions that allow for wider domains of the evaluations. Circular Pythagorean fuzzy sets were defined with this motivation, and here we first combine them with soft set theory. In this setting, we propose novel score and accuracy functions based on optimistic and pessimistic perspectives. This is done with the help of a decision-maker-controlled parameter 𝜆 ∈ [0,1] that captures her/his approach to the problem. Furthermore, inspired by related models we define essential operations for the new framework, including complement, min-OR, max-OR, min-AND, max-AND, min-union, max-union, min-intersection, and max-intersection. All these tools allow us to extend decision-making strategies designed for Pythagorean fuzzy soft sets to the circular domain motivated by considerations of slackness. Finally, the study compares the proposed approach with circular intuitionistic fuzzy soft set based decision-making models to evaluate its effectiveness. | 2023 | Scores of hesitant fuzzy elements revisited: "Was sind und was sollen"abstractThis paper revolves around the notion of score for hesitant fuzzy elements, the constituent parts of hesitant fuzzy sets. Scores allow us to reduce the level of uncertainty of hesitant fuzzy sets to classical fuzzy sets, or to rank alternatives characterized by hesitant fuzzy information. We propose a rigorous and normative definition capable of encapsulating the characteristics of the most important scores introduced in the literature. We systematically analyse different types of scores, with a focus on coherence properties based on cardinality and monotonicity. The hesitant fuzzy elements considered in this analysis are unrestricted. The inspection of the infinite case is especially novel. In particular, special attention will be paid to the analysis of hesitant fuzzy elements that are intervals. José Carlos Rodriguez Alcantud, María J. Campión, Esteban Induráin, Ana Munárriz |

| 2022 | Improved generalized dissimilarity measure-based VIKOR method for Pythagorean fuzzy setsabstractThe compromise solution of the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem by the existing VIKOR method for Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PyFSs) is not closest to the positive ideal solution. This is because the defining function for VIKOR does not obey the axioms for a dissimilarity measure. Thus in this context, the existing notion of dissimilarity measures and the VIKOR method are controversial. This study aims to provide a new dissimilarity measure and refine the VIKOR method for PyFSs accordingly. We define a new dissimilarity measure for PyFSs and refine the existing VIKOR method. We discuss the additional properties of dissimilarity measures and improve the ideas of remoteness and ranking indexes. We provide numerical examples to support the analysis and findings of our study. Finally, we solve the MCDM problems to illustrate the proposed method. | 2022 | The semantics of N-soft sets, their applications, and a coda about three-way decisionabstractThis paper presents the first detailed analysis of the semantics of N-soft sets. The two benchmark semantics associated with soft sets are perfect fits for N-soft sets. We argue that N-soft sets allow for an utterly new interpretation in logical terms, whereby N-soft sets can be interpreted as a generalized form of incomplete soft sets. Applications include aggregation strategies for these settings. Finally, three-way decision models are designed with both a qualitative and a quantitative character. The first is based on the concepts of V-kernel, V-core and V-support. The second uses an extended form of cardinality that is reminiscent of the idea of scalar sigma-count as a proxy of the cardinality of a fuzzy set. José Carlos Rodriguez Alcantud |

| 2022 | Convex rough sets on finite domainsabstractThis paper addresses a foundational aspect of imprecision in information and knowledge. It makes a convincing case that convexity can take part in the progress of rough set theory in finite settings. To this purpose we resort to convex geometries, which constitute a special type of coverings that abstract many combinatorial features of convexity. We define convex geometry (cg) approximation spaces on a grand set, and we produce novel cg-upper and cg-lower approximation operators. Their basic properties are presented. Then we show that the model that arises has connections with well-established models in the rough set literature, both from relation and covering-based approaches. We identificate three types of subsets of the grand set that have different behaviors with respect to their cg-approximations, and we refine this classification in some benchmark cases. Finally, we produce a canonical convex geometry approximation space from any covering on a set. Examples illustrate our constructions and main results. | 2021 | An axiomatically supported divergence measures for q-rung orthopair fuzzy setsabstractDespite the importance of divergence measures, the literature has not provided a satisfactory formulation for the case of q-rung orthopair fuzzy set. This paper criticizes the existing attempts in terms of respect of the basic axioms of a divergence measure. Then new improved, axiomatically supported divergence measures for qROFSs are proposed. Additional properties of the new divergence measures are discussed to guarantee their good performance. The transformation relationships with entropy and dissimilarity measures are debated. The multiattribute border approximation area comparison decision method is extended based on the suggested divergence measures, and it is applied to the selection of all-rounder cricketer for a team.
