2024 ICT Governance Practices and Industry 4.0 Technologies in Support of Decision-Making in Brazilian Smart Cities in the Face of the COVID-19 Pandemic
abstract
Facing uncertainty catalyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision-making of information and communication technology (ICT) managers in smart cities has become essential for technological development. This exploratory study describes the effects of ICT governance practices and the use of Industry 4.0 technologies on the decision-making of technology managers in Brazilian cities considered smart in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, 39 municipalities were selected based on classifications of Brazilian smart cities, and data were collected through the electronic citizen service system and a survey application. It identified the use of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and the ICT Master Plan (PDTIC) as the cities’ ICT governance practices. Regarding Industry 4.0 technologies, the use of business intelligence (BI), cloud computing (CC), and open data was verified. Furthermore, the need to develop a planning culture and the need for internal training of professionals in the face of new technological resources emerged. The results showed that ICT governance practices and Industry 4.0 technologies have positive effects if used holistically according to the alignment with the municipality’s strategic objectives. The senior management of municipalities must see the importance of making constant investments in infrastructure and the technical capacity of professionals to achieve greater effectiveness in the use of technological resources.

2020 Perception of federal public administration ICT managers on good ICT governance practices
abstract
In order to improve IT governance in APF, the TCU created, under the 2010 survey, the IT governance index (iGovTI). This type of research has as general objective, a situation of IT governance of each evaluated organization. Currently (2018), iGovTI evaluates organizations into four categories: initial, basic, intermediate, and enhanced. In this context, a research related to this problem seeks together with the ICT managers of Brazilian APF organizations of "initial" capacity, with the objective of not doing good practices in their own organizations. As a result of the chapter, they recognize that ITIL, COBIT and PMBOK are the best known and best practices used in participation organizations. And that, despite the majority of companies, has financial resources dedicated to the area, such as the difficulties in relation to knowledge about governance and good work and work practices.

2018 PeticGov: An auditing and direction framework for federal public organizations
abstract
Governance of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) is still a challenging factor for organizations, both for the public and private sector. Public organizations are recognized by the control bodies (Audit Court of the Union - ACU, System of Administration of Information Technology Resources - SISP, Strategy of Digital Governance - EGD), which, through this recognition, cause the managers of these organizations to pay attention to this area. In this case, the adoption and direction of good practices that meet the requirements of the control bodies regarding ICT Governance are necessary. Thus, the objective of this article is to propose a framework called PeticGov, with the objective to support the organizations evaluated by the TCU and to direct the ICT managers in how to implement the good practices of ICT Governance considered relevant for TCU evaluation. In order to direct the organizations in which good practice (s) to adopt based on their deficit. As results, it is noticed that the PeticGov questionnaire returns the same result of the TCU.

2016 An evaluation of influence of human personality in software development: An experience report
abstract
Personality of software developers professionals has been a continuous element of interest in academic research. Researchers have applied different models of personality analysis in various software engineering areas to identify improvement points, to promote job satisfaction and to better organize teams. This paper aims to conduct a study, by means of an experience report, to evaluate the MBTI personality model (Myers-Briggs Type Indication) applied to software developers and to understand how human personality influences professionals' work. The experience was applied in one private university to 6 developers to measure quality of developed software by means of Object Oriented Software Metrics. Each software analyzed was developed by a single developer. Evidence was found that developers with MBTI type “INTJ” (Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging), presented lower levels of depth of inheritance tree (DIT) and “slightly” smaller methods (LOC). As a result, it is clear that further research on the relationship between personality and object-oriented software metrics is needed.

2014 An approach for recommending personalized contents for homecare users in the context of health 2.0
abstract
This paper proposes a content recommendation mechanism as part of a model for implementing ubiquitous learning for supporting people with chronic diseases who are treated at home, so that they can learn more about treatments for their disease. In the proposed approach, the learning takes place based on day-to-day activities and real situations. In this case, the model supports the development of tools that can learn about the user's context, based on data obtained via sensors installed on users or in their home, as well as data supplied directly by the user interface of their mobile devices, and data provided by the healthcare team, and, after that, recommend contents about their diseases.

2014 Evaluation of SysML diagrams to document requirements using TAM
abstract
A number of methods, languages, tools and techniques are widely used in Software Engineering projects even before being formally evaluated in practice. In critical phases of software life cycle, such as requirements engineering, this practice may lead to deceptions. In this paper, an evaluation of the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) diagrams and constructions when applied to requirements engineering activities is proposed. This evaluation was performed based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Three criteria were used to evaluate the acceptance of SysML as a language for requirements engineering: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived usage. The evaluation was performed in practice in a company that develops software-intensive systems.

2014 ModelER: Abordagem baseada em modelos aplicada ao processo de elicitação de requisitos
abstract

2012 Evaluating a technique for requirements extraction from business process diagrams through empirical studies
abstract
In the area of requirements engineering there are elicitation techniques that are based on business context to identify the software requirements. However, these techniques do not commonly use business processes models as a source of information relevant to the elicitation of requirements. Such techniques extract use cases from business processes models. However, before modeling use cases, it is important to produce a document with functional and non-functional requirements and business rules. Therefore, this work proposes a new technique to aid extracting the requirements from business process diagrams: the REMO (Requirements Elicitation oriented by business process MOdeling) technique. This paper shows that, through the use of empirical studies, it was possible to obtain results that contributed to the evolution of the REMO technique. Additionally, the paper describes the qualitative analysis of the second empirical study, which used the procedures of two different methods: the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Grounded Theory.

2008 Visualization of Ontologies to Specify Semantic Descriptions of Services
abstract
The present paper describes the main characteristics and components of the tool developed for integrating the definition of profiles for semantic web services. This tool is based on the languages DAML-S and OWL-S and it includes the ontology visualization and consistency verification that specify the concepts a web service interacts with. Starting from a service description interpreted by a computer and by the means used for accessing the service, it is possible to find out which software agents use the service. The tool can generate information in different formats, such as the SVG format proposed by the W3C, for representing graphic information based on XML. The tool was developed in Java language and is being used for the visualization of ontologies and for the semantic description of services in traffic information systems that the LISITT group (Laboratorio Integrado de Sistemas Inteligentes y Tecnologías de la información de Tráfico) developed at the Robotics Institute at the University of Valencia.

2007 Web tool to support online inquiries: adapting Moodle to meet some of tutors and teachers needs
abstract
E-Learning is today a reality adopted by many organizations and schools around the world. With the increased use of E-Learning, Learning Management Tools are becoming more and more important, but often they fail to respond to particular or specific demands that differ from institution to institution. Even thought there is now a large variety of software available in this area, it's very important that Learning Management Environment software can be adapted to meet all these special requirements. The implementation of modules in Learning Management Tools can result in a powerful E-Learning tool, and can be the answer to customize it in a way that responds to some of the organization needs. These modules also allow tutors and teachers to focus more in the learning activities rather than on the software itself.
