| 2025 | LegoACE: Autoregressive Construction Engine for Expressive LEGO® AssembliesabstractAutomated LEGO® design is challenging due to the extensive variety of LEGO® brick types and the necessity of constructing semantically meaningful models from individually meaningless components. Current automatic LEGO® generation methods face two key challenges: i) They typically rely on explicit modeling of brick connectivity to ensure structural validity. However, this requires extensive manual annotation, which is labor-intensive as the variety of LEGO® primitives increases. This limits training data diversity, restricting the variety of LEGO® bricks that can be effectively utilized. ii) To facilitate learning within neural networks, current methods often employ either volume or text-based descriptions to represent LEGO® models. However, volumetric representations are computationally expensive and hamper large-scale generative training, while text-based approaches rely on large language models and dedicated text-to-brick mapping rules, introducing a semantic gap between language tokens and 3D brick structures. | 2023 | A Twice Denoising Autoencoder Framework for Random Seismic Noise AttenuationabstractMany seismic denoising algorithms are easily trapped in the dilemma of signal leaking and noise remaining. However, between the two situations, more complex and common situations happen that both signal leaking and noise remaining exist. We have presented a denoising framework for random seismic noise attenuation to mitigate the dilemma and achieve a better denoising performance. The framework consists of a denoising autoencoder (DAE) and data generator. The DAE attenuates random noise without ground truth and works with a vectoring patching technique to reduce time complexity. In the data generator, local correlation (LC) is first developed to nonlinear LC to detect and extract the signal leakage with noise components suppressed. Then, the extracted signal leakage is compensated back to the DAE output in a supersaturated way to generate a new record. After that, DAE is used again to suppress the remaining noise in the new record. The supersaturated compensation of the first signal leakage counteracts the signal leakage of the second DAE noise attenuation. Formally, the proposed framework can be implemented like a nonlinear geological inversion by thinking of the data generator as the forward operator. Four 2-D/3-D synthetic and field examples test the performance of the proposed framework. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is effective in random noise attenuation and signal leakage compensation and thus significantly mitigates the mentioned dilemma. | 2020 | Scale-aware Insertion of Virtual Objects in Monocular VideosabstractIn this paper, we propose a scale-aware method for inserting virtual objects with proper sizes into monocular videos. To tackle the scale ambiguity problem of geometry recovery from monocular videos, we estimate the global scale objects in a video with a Bayesian approach incorporating the size priors of objects, where the scene objects sizes should strictly conform to the same global scale and the possibilities of global scales are maximized according to the size distribution of object categories. To do so, we propose a dataset of sizes of object categories: Metric-Tree, a hierarchical representation of sizes of more than 900 object categories with the corresponding images. To handle the incompleteness of objects recovered from videos, we propose a novel scale estimation method that extracts plausible dimensions of objects for scale optimization. Experiments have shown that our method for scale estimation performs better than the state-of-the-art methods, and has considerable validity and robustness for different video scenes.
