| 2025 | WorldWeaver: Generating Long-Horizon Video Worlds via Rich PerceptionabstractGenerative video modeling has made significant strides, yet ensuring structural and temporal consistency over long sequences remains a challenge. Current methods predominantly rely on RGB signals, leading to accumulated errors in object structure and motion over extended durations. To address these issues, we introduce WorldWeaver, a robust framework for long video generation that jointly models RGB frames and perceptual conditions within a unified long-horizon modeling scheme. Our training framework offers three key advantages. First, by jointly predicting perceptual conditions and color information from a unified representation, it significantly enhances temporal consistency and motion dynamics. Second, by leveraging depth cues, which we observe to be more resistant to drift than RGB, we construct a memory bank that preserves clearer contextual information, improving quality in long-horizon video generation. Third, we employ segmented noise scheduling for training prediction groups, which further mitigates drift and reduces computational cost. Extensive experiments on both diffusion and rectified flow-based models demonstrate the effectiveness of WorldWeaver in reducing temporal drift and improving the fidelity of generated videos. | 2024 | Rethinking the Spatial Inconsistency in Classifier-Free Diffusion GuidanceabstractClassifier-Free Guidance (CFG) has been widely used in text-to-image diffusion models, where the CFG scale is introduced to control the strength of text guidance on the whole image space. However, we argue that a global CFG scale results in spatial inconsistency on varying semantic strengths and suboptimal image quality. To address this problem, we present a novel approach, Semantic-aware Classifier-Free Guidance (S-CFG), to customize the guidance degrees for different semantic units in text-to-image diffusion models. Specifically, we first design a training-free semantic segmentation method to partition the latent image into relatively independent semantic regions at each denoising step. In particular, the cross-attention map in the denoising U-net backbone is renormalized for assigning each patch to the corresponding token, while the self-attention map is used to complete the semantic regions. Then, to balance the amplification of diverse semantic units, we adaptively adjust the CFG scales across different semantic regions to rescale the text guidance degrees into a uniform level. Finally, extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of S-CFG over the original CFG strategy on various text-to-image diffusion models, without requiring any extra training cost. our codes are available at https://github.com/SmilesDZgk/S-CFG. | 2024 | Align, Adapt and Inject: Audio-Guided Image Generation, Editing and StylizationabstractDiffusion models have significantly advanced various image generative tasks, including image generation, editing, and stylization. While text prompts are commonly used as guidance in most generative models, audio presents a valuable alternative, as it inherently accompanies corresponding scenes and provides abundant information for guiding image generative tasks. In this paper, we propose a novel and unified framework named Align, Adapt, and Inject (AAI) to explore the cue role of audio, which effectively realizes audio-guided image generation, editing, and stylization simultaneously. Specifically, AAI first aligns the audio embedding with visual features, and then adapts the aligned audio embedding to an AudioCue enriched with visual semantics, finally injects the AudioCue into existing Text-to-Image diffusion model in a plug-and-play manner. The experiment results demonstrate that AAI successfully extracts rich information from audio, and outperforms previous work in multiple image generative tasks. | 2023 | Temporal Enhanced Training of Multi-view 3D Object Detector via Historical Object PredictionabstractIn this paper, we propose a new paradigm, named Historical Object Prediction (HoP) for multi-view 3D detection to leverage temporal information more effectively. The HoP approach is straightforward: given the current times-tamp t, we generate a pseudo Bird’s-Eye View (BEV) feature of timestamp t-k from its adjacent frames and utilize this feature to predict the object set at timestamp t-k. Our approach is motivated by the observation that enforcing the detector to capture both the spatial location and temporal motion of objects occurring at historical timestamps can lead to more accurate BEV feature learning. First, we elaborately design short-term and long-term temporal decoders, which can generate the pseudo BEV feature for timestamp t-k without the involvement of its corresponding camera images. Second, an additional object decoder is flexibly attached to predict the object targets using the generated pseudo BEV feature. Note that we only perform HoP during training, thus the proposed method does not introduce extra overheads during inference. As a plug-and-play approach, HoP can be easily incorporated into state-of-the-art BEV detection frameworks, including BEVFormer and BEVDet series. Furthermore, the auxiliary HoP approach is complementary to prevalent temporal modeling methods, leading to significant performance gains. Extensive experiments are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed HoP on the nuScenes dataset. We choose the representative methods, including BEVFormer and BEVDet4D-Depth to evaluate our method. Surprisingly, HoP achieves 68.5% NDS and 62.4% mAP with ViT-L on nuScenes test, outperforming all the 3D object detectors on the leaderboard. Codes are available at https://github.com/Sense-X/HoP. | 2023 | RAPHAEL: Text-to-Image Generation via Large Mixture of Diffusion PathsabstractText-to-image generation has recently witnessed remarkable achievements. We introduce a text-conditional image diffusion model, termed RAPHAEL, to generate highly artistic images, which accurately portray the text prompts, encompassing multiple nouns, adjectives, and verbs. This is achieved by stacking tens of mixture-of-experts (MoEs) layers, i.e., space-MoE and time-MoE layers, enabling billions of diffusion paths (routes) from the network input to the output. Each path intuitively functions as a "painter" for depicting a particular textual concept onto a specified image region at a diffusion timestep. Comprehensive experiments reveal that RAPHAEL outperforms recent cutting-edge models, such as Stable Diffusion, ERNIE-ViLG 2.0, DeepFloyd, and DALL-E 2, in terms of both image quality and aesthetic appeal. Firstly, RAPHAEL exhibits superior performance in switching images across diverse styles, such as Japanese comics, realism, cyberpunk, and ink illustration. Secondly, a single model with three billion parameters, trained on 1,000 A100 GPUs for two months, achieves a state-of-the-art zero-shot FID score of 6.61 on the COCO dataset. Furthermore, RAPHAEL significantly surpasses its counterparts in human evaluation on the ViLG-300 benchmark. We believe that RAPHAEL holds the potential to propel the frontiers of image generation research in both academia and industry, paving the way for future breakthroughs in this rapidly evolving field. | 2022 | Large-batch Optimization for Dense Visual Predictions: Training Faster R-CNN in 4.2 MinutesabstractTraining a large-scale deep neural network in a large-scale dataset is challenging and time-consuming. The recent breakthrough of large-batch optimization is a promising way to tackle this challenge. However, although the current advanced algorithms such as LARS and LAMB succeed in classification models, the complicated pipelines of dense visual predictions such as object detection and segmentation still suffer from the heavy performance drop in the large-batch training regime. To address this challenge, we propose a simple yet effective algorithm, named Adaptive Gradient Variance Modulator (AGVM), which can train dense visual predictors with very large batch size, enabling several benefits more appealing than prior arts. Firstly, AGVM can align the gradient variances between different modules in the dense visual predictors, such as backbone, feature pyramid network (FPN), detection, and segmentation heads. We show that training with a large batch size can fail with the gradient variances misaligned among them, which is a phenomenon primarily overlooked in previous work. Secondly, AGVM is a plug-and-play module that generalizes well to many different architectures (e.g., CNNs and Transformers) and different tasks (e.g., object detection, instance segmentation, semantic segmentation, and panoptic segmentation). It is also compatible with different optimizers (e.g., SGD and AdamW). Thirdly, a theoretical analysis of AGVM is provided. Extensive experiments on the COCO and ADE20K datasets demonstrate the superiority of AGVM. For example, AGVM demonstrates more stable generalization performance than prior arts under extremely large batch size (i.e., 10k). AGVM can train Faster R-CNN+ResNet50 in 4.2 minutes without losing performance. It enables training an object detector with one billion parameters in just 3.5 hours, reducing the training time by 20.9×, whilst achieving 62.2 mAP on COCO. The deliverables will be released at https://github.com/Sense-X/AGVM. Zeyue Xue, Jianming Liang, Guanglu Song, Zhuofan Zong, Yu Liu 0015, Ping Luo 0002 |

| 2021 | A Resource-Constrained and Privacy-Preserving Edge-Computing-Enabled Clinical Decision System: A Federated Reinforcement Learning ApproachabstractInternet-of-Things-enabled E-health system, which could monitor and collect the personal health information (PHI), has gradually transformed the clinical treatment to a more personalized way with in-home monitoring smart devices. Then, with the collected PHI, clinical decision support systems (CDSSs), which are based on data mining techniques and historical electronic medical records (EMRs) to help clinicians make proper treatment decisions, have attracted considerable attention. To address issues, such as network congestion and low rate of responsiveness for traditional methods when implementing CDSSs, we integrate the technologies mobile-edge computing (MEC) and software-defined networking for exploiting the computation resources and storage capacities among edge nodes (ENs) (i.e., MEC servers) in our model. Based on this integrated system, each edge node will deploy a double deep Q-network (DDQN) to obtain a stable and sequential clinical treatment policy. It is enabled by a novel fully decentralized federated framework (FDFF) for aggregating models of DDQN and extracting the knowledge from EMRs across all ENs. Furthermore, we discuss the convergence of FDFF in resource-constrained environments. However, since most EMRs are faced with stringent privacy concerns, we adopt two additively homomorphic encryption schemes to prevent leakage of EMRs' privacy during the training process of FDFF. Finally, we measure the time cost of our additively homomorphic encryption schemes and validate DDQN with experiments on large data sets based on FDFF, which shows promising performance on clinician treatment.
