2026 PWAVEP: Purifying Imperceptible Adversarial Perturbations in 3D Point Clouds via Spectral Graph Wavelets
abstract
Recent progress in adversarial attacks on 3D point clouds, particularly in achieving spatial imperceptibility and high attack performance, presents significant challenges for defenders. Current defensive approaches remain cumbersome, often requiring invasive model modifications, expensive training procedures or auxiliary data access. To address these threats, in this paper, we propose a plug-and-play and non-invasive defense mechanism in the spectral domain, grounded in a theoretical and empirical analysis of the relationship between imperceptible perturbations and high-frequency spectral components. Building upon these insights, we introduce a novel purification framework, termed PWAVEP, which begins by computing a spectral graph wavelet domain saliency score and local sparsity score for each point. Guided by these values, PWAVEP adopts a hierarchical strategy, it eliminates the most salient points, which are identified as hardly recoverable adversarial outliers. Simultaneously, it applies a spectral filtering process to a broader set of moderately salient points. This process leverages a graph wavelet transform to attenuate high-frequency coefficients associated with the targeted points, thereby effectively suppressing adversarial noise. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that the proposed PWAVEP achieves superior accuracy and robustness compared to existing approaches, advancing the state-of-the-art in 3D point cloud purification. 2025 MetaSlot: Break Through the Fixed Number of Slots in Object-Centric Learning
abstract
Learning object-level, structured representations is widely regarded as a key to better generalization in vision and underpins the design of next-generation Pre-trained Vision Models (PVMs). Mainstream Object-Centric Learning (OCL) methods adopt Slot Attention or its variants to iteratively aggregate objects' super-pixels into a fixed set of query feature vectors, termed slots. However, their reliance on a static slot count leads to an object being represented as multiple parts when the number of objects varies. We introduce MetaSlot, a plug-and-play Slot Attention variant that adapts to variable object counts. MetaSlot (i) maintains a codebook that holds prototypes of objects in a dataset by vector-quantizing the resulting slot representations; (ii) removes duplicate slots from the traditionally aggregated slots by quantizing them with the codebook; and (iii) injects progressively weaker noise into the Slot Attention iterations to accelerate and stabilize the aggregation. MetaSlot is a general Slot Attention variant that can be seamlessly integrated into existing OCL architectures. Across multiple public datasets and tasks--including object discovery and recognition--models equipped with MetaSlot achieve significant performance gains and markedly interpretable slot representations, compared with existing Slot Attention variants. The code is available at https://github.com/lhj-lhj/MetaSlot.

2025 Dual Operation Aggregation Graph Neural Networks for Solving Flexible Job-Shop Scheduling Problem with Reinforcement Learning
abstract
With the widespread adoption of Internet Protocol (IP) communication technology and web-based platforms, cloud manufacturing has become a significant hallmark of Industry 4.0. Integrating graph algorithms into these web-enabled environments is crucial as they facilitate the representation and analysis of complex relationships in manufacturing processes, enabling efficient decision-making and adaptability in dynamic environments. As a key scheduling problem in cloud manufacturing, the flexible job-shop scheduling problem (FJSP) finds extensive applications in real-world scenarios. However, traditional FJSP-solving methods struggle to meet the efficiency and adaptability demands of cloud manufacturing due to generalization issues and excessive computational time, while reinforcement learning-based methods fail to learn relationships between FJSP nodes, such as interactions between operations of different jobs, leading to limited interpretability and performance. To address these issues, we propose a dual operation aggregation graph neural network (GNN) for solving FJSP. Specifically, we decouple the disjunctive graph into two distinct graphs, reducing graph density and clarifying relationships between machines and operations, thus enabling more effective aggregation and understanding by neural networks. We develop two distinct graph aggregation methods to minimize the influence of non-critical machine and operation nodes on decision-making while enhancing the model's ability to account for long-term benefits. Additionally, to achieve more accurate multi-objective estimation and mitigate reward sparsity, we design a reward function that simultaneously considers machine efficiency, schedule balance, and makespan minimization. Extensive experimental results on well-known datasets demonstrate that our model outperforms state-of-the-art models and exhibits excellent generalization capabilities, effectively addressing the challenges of cloud manufacturing.

2023 The Multivariate Transformer Network for Mild Cognitive Impairment Identification
abstract
The functional brain network (FBN) has emerged as a promising biomarker for classifying brain diseases. However, most existing studies ignored the extensive interactions between gray matter (GM) and white matter (WM) which would limit the performance of the process. In this paper, we presented a GM and WM FBNs based mild cognitive impairment (MCI) identification method by utilizing spatial independent component analysis (ICA) and transformer network with rs-fMRI data. Specifically, spatial ICA was performed on the GM and WM of the preprocessed fMRI data. Then the time courses of the GM and WM independent components were inputted into the transformer network with attention mechanism, which led to the optimized and extensive inter- and intra-matter functional connectivity. Finally, the fused GM and WM FBNs were constructed for MCI identification. Experimental results on ADNI dataset demonstrated the superior performance of the proposed method over the state-of-the-art methods.

2023 Multi-scale 3D-CNN for Alzheimer's Disease Classification
abstract
The diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) based Alzheimer's disease (AD) classification consists of the region of interest-based methods, voxel-based methods, and fiber tracer map-based methods. However, most of the studies utilize partial information of the DTI data. It is difficult to discover most discriminative biomarkers. To address this problem, this paper proposes a novel AD classification method based on 3D convolutional neural networks (3D-CNN) with multi-scale information fusion in order to uncover the differential features of AD. First, the significant voxels of anisotropy score and mean dispersion rate for each individual are extracted using Tract-Based Spatial Statistics (TBSS) method from the skeleton. Second, the texture and intensity features are extracted by utilizing radiomics method. Third, an improved 3D convolutional neural network is proposed to extract depth features from the fractional anisotropy (FA) and mean diffusivity (MD) images. Finally, the multi-scale features are linearly fused and select with LASSO algorithm. The support vector machine is utilized for five-fold cross-validation. The experimental results on the ADNI dataset with 185 DTI images containing AD and normal controls (NC) subjects show that the proposed method achieves better classification performance compared with existing methods for the AD assist diagnosis task.

2023 scAnno: a deconvolution strategy-based automatic cell type annotation tool for single-cell RNA-sequencing data sets
abstract
Undoubtedly, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has changed the research landscape by providing insights into heterogeneous, complex and rare cell populations. Given that more such data sets will become available in the near future, their accurate assessment with compatible and robust models for cell type annotation is a prerequisite. Considering this, herein, we developed scAnno (scRNA-seq data annotation), an automated annotation tool for scRNA-seq data sets primarily based on the single-cell cluster levels, using a joint deconvolution strategy and logistic regression. We explicitly constructed a reference profile for human (30 cell types and 50 human tissues) and a reference profile for mouse (26 cell types and 50 mouse tissues) to support this novel methodology (scAnno). scAnno offers a possibility to obtain genes with high expression and specificity in a given cell type as cell type-specific genes (marker genes) by combining co-expression genes with seed genes as a core. Of importance, scAnno can accurately identify cell type-specific genes based on cell type reference expression profiles without any prior information. Particularly, in the peripheral blood mononuclear cell data set, the marker genes identified by scAnno showed cell type-specific expression, and the majority of marker genes matched exactly with those included in the CellMarker database. Besides validating the flexibility and interpretability of scAnno in identifying marker genes, we also proved its superiority in cell type annotation over other cell type annotation tools (SingleR, scPred, CHETAH and scmap-cluster) through internal validation of data sets (average annotation accuracy: 99.05%) and cross-platform data sets (average annotation accuracy: 95.56%). Taken together, we established the first novel methodology that utilizes a deconvolution strategy for automated cell typing and is capable of being a significant application in broader scRNA-seq analysis. scAnno is available at https://github.com/liuhong-jia/scAnno.
