2025 CodeMerge: Codebook-Guided Model Merging for Robust Test-Time Adaptation in Autonomous Driving
abstract
Maintaining robust 3D perception under dynamic and unpredictable test-time conditions remains a critical challenge for autonomous driving systems. Existing test-time adaptation (TTA) methods often fail in high-variance tasks like 3D object detection due to unstable optimization and sharp minima. While recent model merging strategies based on linear mode connectivity (LMC) offer improved stability by interpolating between fine-tuned checkpoints, they are computationally expensive, requiring repeated checkpoint access and multiple forward passes. In this paper, we introduce CodeMerge, a lightweight and scalable model merging framework that bypasses these limitations by operating in a compact latent space. Instead of loading full models, CodeMerge represents each checkpoint with a low-dimensional fingerprint derived from the source model’s penultimate features and constructs a key-value codebook. We compute merging coefficients using ridge leverage scores on these fingerprints, enabling efficient model composition without compromising adaptation quality. Our method achieves strong performance across challenging benchmarks, improving end-to-end 3D detection 14.9\% NDS on nuScenes-C and LiDAR-based detection by over 7.6\% mAP on nuScenes-to-KITTI, while benefiting downstream tasks such as online mapping, motion prediction and planning even without training. The code is released at \url{https://github.com/UQHTy/CodeMerge}.

2024 GAMNet: Global attention via multi-scale context for depth estimation algorithm and application
abstract
Abstract Deep neural networks significantly enhance the accuracy of the stereo‐based disparity estimation. Some current methods suffer from inefficient use of the global context information, which will lead to the loss of structural details in ill‐posed areas. To this end, a novel stereo network GAMNet is designed, composed of three core components (GDA, MPF, DCA) for estimating the depth prediction in challenging real‐world environments. First, a lightweight attention module is presented, integrating the global semantic cues for every feature position across the channel and spatial dimensions. Next, the MPF module is constructed to fuse the diverse semantic and contextual information from different levels of the feature pyramid. Finally, cost volume is aggregated with a stacked encoder‐decoder composed of the DCA module and 3D convolutions, filtering the transmission of matching clues and capturing the rich global contexts. Substantial experiments conducted on KITTI 2012, KITTI 2015, SceneFlow, and Middlebury‐v3 datasets manifest that GAMNet surpasses preceding methods with contour‐preserving disparity predictions. In addition, the first 3D scene reconstruction linear evaluation strategy on spatial grasping points for the end‐to‐end stereo networks in an unsupervised mode is proposed, and it is deployed on the designed robot vision‐guided system. In application experiments, the method can produce densely high‐precision 3D reconstructions to implement the grasping task in complex real‐world scenes, and achieve excellent robust performance with competitive inference efficiency.

2024 Vision-Centric BEV Perception: A Survey
abstract
In recent years, vision-centric Bird's Eye View (BEV) perception has garnered significant interest from both industry and academia due to its inherent advantages, such as providing an intuitive representation of the world and being conducive to data fusion. The rapid advancements in deep learning have led to the proposal of numerous methods for addressing vision-centric BEV perception challenges. However, there has been no recent survey encompassing this novel and burgeoning research field. To catalyze future research, this paper presents a comprehensive survey of the latest developments in vision-centric BEV perception and its extensions. It compiles and organizes up-to-date knowledge, offering a systematic review and summary of prevalent algorithms. Additionally, the paper provides in-depth analyses and comparative results on various BEV perception tasks, facilitating the evaluation of future works and sparking new research directions. Furthermore, the paper discusses and shares valuable empirical implementation details to aid in the advancement of related algorithms.

2023 One Training for Multiple Deployments: Polar-based Adaptive BEV Perception for Autonomous Driving
abstract
Current on-board chips usually have different computing power, which means multiple training processes are needed for adapting the same learning-based algorithm to different chips, costing huge computing resources. The situation becomes even worse for 3D perception methods with large models. Previous vision-centric 3D perception approaches are trained with regular grid-represented feature maps of fixed resolutions, which is not applicable to adapt to other grid scales, limiting wider deployment. In this paper, we leverage the Polar representation when constructing the BEV feature map from images in order to achieve the goal of training once for multiple deployments. Specifically, the feature along rays in Polar space can be easily adaptively sampled and projected to the feature in Cartesian space with arbitrary resolutions. To further improve the adaptation capability, we make multi-scale contextual information interact with each other to enhance the feature representation. Experiments on a large-scale autonomous driving dataset show that our method outperforms others as for the good property of one training for multiple deployments.

2023 Occ3D: A Large-Scale 3D Occupancy Prediction Benchmark for Autonomous Driving
abstract
Robotic perception requires the modeling of both 3D geometry and semantics. Existing methods typically focus on estimating 3D bounding boxes, neglecting finer geometric details and struggling to handle general, out-of-vocabulary objects. 3D occupancy prediction, which estimates the detailed occupancy states and semantics of a scene, is an emerging task to overcome these limitations. To support 3D occupancy prediction, we develop a label generation pipeline that produces dense, visibility-aware labels for any given scene. This pipeline comprises three stages: voxel densification, occlusion reasoning, and image-guided voxel refinement. We establish two benchmarks, derived from the Waymo Open Dataset and the nuScenes Dataset, namely Occ3D-Waymo and Occ3D-nuScenes benchmarks. Furthermore, we provide an extensive analysis of the proposed dataset with various baseline models. Lastly, we propose a new model, dubbed Coarse-to-Fine Occupancy (CTF-Occ) network, which demonstrates superior performance on the Occ3D benchmarks. The code, data, and benchmarks are released at \url{https://tsinghua-mars-lab.github.io/Occ3D/}.
