| 2026 | BigOrthoATD.Net: A scalable and adaptable distributed deep learning framework for multi-class orthopedic classification across imaging modalities in low-resourced settingsabstractMulti-class medical image classification using DL continues to face major challenges, including managing multi-modal data, adapting to new tasks, handling distributed datasets, and operating under limited computational resources. Existing approaches fail to address these issues simultaneously, restricting the clinical scalability of AI in healthcare. To overcome these limitations, this paper introduces BigOrthoATD.Net, a unified, serverless, and decentralized learning framework that redefines scalability, adaptability, and efficiency in orthopedic image analysis. Designed to operate across distributed clinical nodes, BigOrthoATD.Net enables privacy-preserving knowledge fusion and multimodal integration across X-ray and CT imaging modalities. The framework supports progressive scalability for new tasks and institutions, achieving continual learning without retraining or performance degradation. Comprehensive experiments conducted across 13 simulated decentralized nodes and 50 orthopedic classes demonstrated that BigOrthoATD.Net achieved a state-of-the-art accuracy of 97.0%, outperforming swarm learning (70.8%) and centralized learning (84.8%), while federated learning failed to converge beyond moderate scale under identical resource-constrained conditions. BigOrthoATD.Net establishes a new benchmark for decentralized medical imaging by surpassing both centralized and decentralized frameworks in accuracy, scalability, and class diversity, while operating efficiently in low-resourced settings. | 2025 | Deep Learning Autoencoders for Reducing PAPR in Coherent Optical SystemsabstractThis paper presents an innovative approach to mitigating the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). The proposed method uses a deep learning model called autoencoders (AEs) to simplify the process and avoid the complex calculations of traditional methods such as selective mapping (SLM). Unlike SLM, our approach does not need side information about the PAPR distribution. Through simulations of coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems, the AEbased model offers substantial enhancements in both PAPR reduction and bit error rate (BER) performance when compared to conventional techniques. An error-free transmission can be acheived with a reduction in PAPR exceeding 10 dB compared to the original signal and a 1 dB advantage over SLM. In particular, the AE model achieves the best BER performance of$2 \times 10^{-6}$at 44 dB OSNR, surpassing traditional methods. Furthermore, the model demonstrates robustness against noise and nonlinear distortions, making it appropriate for optical channels experiencing diverse levels of impairment. This innovative technique has the potential to revolutionize next-generation optical communication systems by enabling efficient and reliable data transmission. Omar Alnaseri, Ibtesam R. K. | 2025 | Complexity of Post-Quantum Cryptography in Embedded Systems and Its Optimization StrategiesabstractWith the rapid advancements in quantum computing, traditional cryptographic schemes like Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) and elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) are becoming vulnerable, necessitating the development of quantum-resistant algorithms. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has initiated a standardization process for PQC algorithms, and several candidates, including CRYSTALS-Kyber and McEliece, have reached the final stages. This paper first provides a comprehensive analysis of the hardware complexity of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in embedded systems, categorizing PQC algorithms into families based on their underlying mathematical problems: lattice-based, code-based, hash-based and multivariate / isogeny-based schemes. Each family presents distinct computational, memory, and energy profiles, making them suitable for different use cases. To address these challenges, this paper discusses optimization strategies such as pipelining, parallelization, and high-level synthesis (HLS), which can improve the performance and energy efficiency of PQC implementations. Finally, a detailed complexity analysis of CRYSTALS-Kyber and McEliece, comparing their key generation, encryption, and decryption processes in terms of computational complexity, has been conducted. | 2025 | Cyclic Shift Phase Rotation: An Innovative, Low-Complexity Technique for PAPR ReductionabstractThis paper presents cyclic shift phase rotation (CSPR), an innovative technique designed to mitigate the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems. CSPR demonstrates notable improvements when compared to traditional techniques, such as discrete Fourier transform spread (DFT-spread) and selective mapping (SLM). CSPR eliminates the need for side information, additional inverse fast Fourier transforms (IFFTs), and complex search processes that are needed by other techniques. Analytical evaluations confirm that CSPR requiresO(N log C0) operations, which is significantly lower than theO(M · N logN) complexity of SLM and theO(L · n log n) complexity of DFT-spread. The CSPR has been evaluated within the CO-OFDM transmission. At a distance of 800 km, CSPR facilitates a 3 dB reduction in the required optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) necessary for achieving hard-decision forward error correction (H-FEC) when compared to DFT-spread utilizing 112 sub-bands, and it exceeds the performance of the SLM at low OSNR with the use of 64 candidates. Moreover, it exhibits an 8 dB enhancement in the Q-factor over transmission distances extending up to 2000 km under nonlinear conditions. These results position CSPR as an effective and efficient solution for PAPR mitigation, significantly improving system performance, and reducing hardware complexity.
