| 2017 | Public Interest Analysis Based on Implicit Feedback of IPTV UsersabstractModern information systems make it increasingly easy to gain more insight into the public interest, which is becoming more and more important in diverse public and corporate activities and processes. The disadvantage of existing research that focuses on mining the information from social networks and online communities is that it does not uniformly represent all population groups and that the content can be subjected to self-censoring or curation. In this paper, we propose and describe a framework and a method for estimating public interest from the implicit negative feedback collected from the Internet protocol television (IPTV) audience. Our research focuses primarily on the channel change events and their match with the content information obtained from closed captions. The presented framework is based on concept modeling, viewership profiling, and combines the implicit viewer reactions (channel changes) into an interest score. The proposed framework addresses both above-mentioned disadvantages or concerns. It is able to cover a much broader population, and it can detect even minor variations in user behavior. We demonstrate our approach on a large pseudonymized real-world IPTV dataset provided by an ISP, and show how the results correlate with different trending topics and with parallel classical long-term population surveys. | 2015 | Noninvasive stress recognition considering the current activityabstractIn this study, we aim to determine the stress level in a non-invasive way to the maximum extent possible by analyzing behavioral and contextual data received from the only source being a smartphone containing the data gathered in real-life situations. The information collected includes audio, gyroscope and accelerometer features, light condition, screen mode (on/off), current stress level self-assessment, and the current activity type. Three stress analysis models have been built: two with the consideration of current activities of a participant and one without those. Classification of low- and high-stress conditions, which was executed for a separate model for a certain kind of activity only, enabled us to achieve 3.9 % higher accuracy than that under the conditions when those activities were neglected. Also, the Android application was developed as a means for the current activity-type identification. Mikhail Sysoev, Andrej Kos, Matevz Pogacnik |

| 2014 | Novel Cross-Layer QoE-Aware Radio Resource Allocation Algorithms in Multiuser OFDMA SystemsabstractThe assurance of quality of experience (QoE) and provisioning of high throughput of the system represent the main goals of future wireless and mobile networks. This paper presents novel and practical cross-layer QoE-aware radio resource allocation (RRA) algorithms for the downlink of a heterogeneous orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system. The objective of the proposed algorithms is to assure the appropriate level of QoE for each user of the system by incorporating application-layer parameters and subjective human perception of quality into the RRA process. We propose two user-oriented joint subcarrier and power allocation algorithms with low complexity for real-time and interactive services. The first algorithm dynamically allocates resources by assuring the same level of QoE to all users of the system, whereas the second algorithm introduces the efficient trade-off between the user's QoE and the spectral efficiency of the system. By considering application-layer parameters and user's perception of quality, high users' QoE and explicit control of data rates can be achieved. The numerical results show that the proposed algorithms achieve significant increase in the level of QoE compared to previous works, a fair distribution of capacity among users and near to optimal solution of QoE for the OFDMA system.
