2026 D²-VPR: A Parameter-efficient Visual-foundation-model-based Visual Place Recognition Method via Knowledge Distillation and Deformable Aggregation
abstract
Visual Place Recognition (VPR) aims to determine the geographic location of a query image by retrieving its most visually similar counterpart from a geo-tagged reference database. Recently, the emergence of the powerful visual foundation model, DINOv2, trained in a self-supervised manner on massive datasets, has significantly improved VPR performance. This improvement stems from DINOv2’s exceptional feature generalization capabilities but is often accompanied by increased model complexity and computational overhead that impede deployment on resource-constrained devices. To address this challenge, we propose D2-VPR, a Distillation- and Deformable-based framework that retains the strong feature extraction capabilities of visual foundation models while significantly reducing model parameters and achieving a more favorable performance-efficiency trade-off. Specifically, first, we employ a two-stage training strategy that integrates knowledge distillation and fine-tuning. Additionally, we introduce a Distillation Recovery Module (DRM) to better align the feature spaces between the teacher and student models, thereby minimizing knowledge transfer losses to the greatest extent possible. Second, we design a Top-Down-attention-based Deformable Aggregator (TDDA) that leverages global semantic features to dynamically and adaptively adjust the Regions of Interest (ROI) used for aggregation, thereby improving adaptability to irregular structures. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves competitive performance compared to state-of-the-art approaches. Meanwhile, it reduces the parameter count by approximately 64.2% (compared to CricaVPR).

2026 A Unified RCS Modeling of Typical Targets for 3GPP ISAC Channel Standardization and Experimental Analysis
abstract
Accurate radar cross section (RCS) modeling is crucial for characterizing target scattering and improving the precision of Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) channel modeling. Existing RCS models are typically designed for specific target types, leading to increased complexity and lack of generalization. This makes it difficult to standardize RCS models for 3GPP ISAC channels, which need to account for multiple typical target types simultaneously. Furthermore, 3GPP models must support both system-level and link-level simulations, requiring the integration of large-scale and small-scale scattering characteristics. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a unified RCS modeling framework that consolidates these two aspects. The model decomposes RCS into three components: (1) a large-scale power factor representing overall scattering strength, (2) a small-scale angular-dependent component describing directional scattering, and (3) a random component accounting for variations across target instances. We validate the model through mono-static RCS measurements for UAV, human, and vehicle targets across five frequency bands. The results demonstrate that the proposed model can effectively capture RCS variations for different target types. Finally, the model is incorporated into an ISAC channel simulation platform to assess the impact of target RCS characteristics on path loss, delay spread, and angular spread, providing valuable insights for future ISAC system design.

2012 Contented-Based Large Scale Web Audio Copy Detection
abstract
The exponential growth of web videos brings content based copy detection into a crucial issue. Besides the image information, audio also plays an important role in copy detection. In this paper, the audio-based copy detection framework is introduced. Three contributions are presented: (1) the band energy difference based feature is improved by adding multi-scale information, which extends the candidate feature sets, (2) a conditional entropy based method is used to select 16 ordinal relations to generate a more compact and robust feature combination among the random $C_{91}^{16}\approx2.6\times10^{17}$ combinations, (3) the result-based fusion strategy is introduced to recall the missed true positives. The proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional coarse fingerprints, shown by experiments conducted in the TRECVID 2011 Content-based Copy Detection (CCD) database.

2012 Automatic sports video genre categorization for broadcast videos
abstract
A novel sports genre categorization algorithm based on representative shot extraction and geometry visual phrase(GVP) is presented in this paper. Performance of sports classification can be observably improved by generating reduced image set containing representative information and encoding spatial information into bag-of-words (BOW) model. Firstly, Shots containing significant information of videos are chosen by key-frame clustering. Secondly, GVP are searched by the co-occurrence of visual words in a spatial layout based on scale invariant feature transform (SIFT). Then visual words and GVP are concatenated to form enhanced histograms before SVM based classifying procedure. Compared with most existing methods, our algorithm is domain knowledge free as well as fully automatic and thus provides better extensibility. Experiments on a database of 10 sport genres with over 10257 minutes of videos from different sources achieved an average accuracy of 87.3%, which validates the robustness of our proposed algorithm over large-scale database.

2011 TV program segmentation using multi-modal information fusion
abstract
A TV program segmentation algorithm is presented by the fusion of the multi-modal information in the large-scale videos. As "Inter-Programs" are generally inserted into the TV videos repeatedly, the macro structures of the videos can be effectively and automatically generated by identifying the video-audio features of the special sequences. The Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is used to organize the structures into the programs. Three sections are included in the algorithm, namely, the video-based non-supervised duplicate sequence detection, the audio-based special clip retrieval and the EPG-based 24-hour program segmentation. The algorithm has been tested in 60-day different-type TV videos. The F-measures of the multi-modal fusion and video-based duplicated sequence detection achieve the rates of over 98% and 96% respectively. These results show that the proposed method is highly efficient and effective for the TV Program segmentation.
