| 2019 | A Secure Access Control Model for E-health CloudabstractIn the contemporary digital era, access control is one of the security issues in the modern Electronic Healthcare System (EHS). In particular, the E-Health Cloud (EHC) needed a secure and reliable access control to access the EHC resources. In the past, several attempts have been made to provide secure and reliable access control (AC) to the EHS. But, due to lack of trust and dynamic nature of EHC, the model will suffer from different types of attacks and threats. The provided Access Control Models (ACMs) does not provide complete security to EHS. So, in this paper, we have proposed a Secure Access Control Model (SACM) for E-Health Cloud. The proposed model dynamically calculates the trust degree of the users based on their behavior. The computed trust degree will be used for adjusting the access view of the user. The access view is controlled with the help of access control rule set. We also verified our proposed rule set by using CPN Tools. Umesh Chandra, Shivesh Kumar, Kakali Chatterjee |

| 2013 | Efficient Near-Optimal Dynamic Content Adaptation Applied to JPEG Slides Presentations in Mobile Web ConferencingabstractIn the context of mobile Web conferencing, slide documents are generally transcoded into JPEG format and wrapped into a Web page prior to delivery. Given the diversity of these devices and their networks, dynamically identifying the optimal transcoding parameters is very challenging, as the number of transcoding parameters combinations could be very high. Current solutions use the resolution of the target mobile device and a fixed quality factor as transcoding parameters. However, this technique allows no control over the resulting file size, which, if too large, might increase the delivery time and negatively affect users' experience. Another solution (content selection) which leads to better quality consists in creating several versions and, at delivery time, selecting the best one. However, such a solution is computationally expensive. In this paper, we propose a prediction-based framework which computes near-optimal transcoding parameters dynamically with far less computations. We propose five methods based on this framework. The first predicts near-optimal transcoding parameters, while the others improve their accuracy. From the set of documents tested, two of the proposed methods reach optimality 14% and 30% of the time, respectively. Moreover, the average deviation from optimality for the proposed methods varies from 6% to 3%, with a complexity varying from 1 to 5 transcoding operations. | 2013 | Quality Prediction-Based Dynamic Content Adaptation Framework Applied to Collaborative Mobile PresentationsabstractToday, professional documents, created in applications such as PowerPoint and Word, can be shared using ubiquitous mobile terminals connected to the Internet. GoogleDocs and EasyMeet are good examples of such collaborative web applications dedicated to professional documents. The static adaptation of professional documents has been studied extensively. Dynamic adaptation can be very useful and practical for interactive multimedia applications, because it allows the delivery of highly customized content to the end user without the need to generate and store multiple transcoded versions. In this paper, we propose a dynamic framework that enables us to estimate transcoding parameters on the fly to generate near-optimal adapted content for each user. The framework is compared to current dynamic methods as well as to static adaptation solutions. We show that the proposed framework provides a better tradeoff between quality and storage compared to other static and dynamic approaches. To quantify the quality of the adapted content, we introduce a measure of the quality of the experience based on the visual quality of the adapted content, as well as on the impact of its total delivery time. The framework has been tested on (but is not limited to) OpenOffice Impress presentations. Habib Louafi, Stéphane Coulombe, Umesh Chandra |

| 2012 | Low Energy and Sufficiently Accurate Localization for Non-smartphonesabstractLocation-aware mobile applications are steadily gaining popularity across the world. However, lack of Global Positioning System (GPS) and absence of Wi-Fi infrastructure prevent users with non-Smart phones (majority of population in developing countries) from using location-aware applications as their phones do not have access to their current location. Existing GSM based approaches such as Cell ID-based works on non-Smart phones but they require access to a comprehensive database of Cell IDs. Such a database either does not exist or is very limited in developing countries. In this paper, we propose a novel GSM-based approach of using Cell Broadcast Service (CBS) messages for getting current location on the phone. Proposed approach does not depend on a comprehensive database and can run on programmable low end phones. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach on data collected in New Delhi, India across two different operators and propose two space-time history based algorithms to improve upon the localization accuracy of our baseline CBS approach. The proposed algorithms provide up to 35% improvement in accuracy over the baseline method. Further, we compare accuracy of our CBS-based approach with that of Cell ID-based approach and also, present a multimodal approach that uses combination of both CBS and Cell ID (wherever available) to improve the localization accuracy. | 2011 | Unveiling locations in geo-spatial documentsabstractResolving geo-identities of addresses in emerging economies where users rely primarily on short messaging as the means of querying, poses several daunting challenges: lack of proper addressing schemes, non-availability of cartographic information and non-standardized nomenclature of geo-spatial entities such as streets and avenues, to name a few. | 2010 | Personal Relationship Management via Mobile PhoneabstractEfficiently maintaining and managing personal relationships have become imperative in our personal and professional lives. In this paper we describe the design of a mobile personal relationship manager (PRM), a prototype implementation on Nokia S60 smartphones, and results from initial user studies. The PRM system automatically extracts and manages contacts and their network from user's various communication activities, and provides various functions for managing personal communications efficiently. Our contributions are to make it easy to enable the users to manage personal relationships and communications, and the user studies that validate the design of our prototype. Juong-Sik Lee, Martin L. | 2006 | Movable-multimedia: session mobility in ubiquitous computing ecosystemabstractIP-based Multimedia creation and consumption is becoming available on an increasing spectrum of devices ranging from low-powered portable devices like cell phones and PDA's to high powered static devices like desktops PCs and IPTVs. High-speed wireless and wire-line network access is becoming widespread. Multimedia services like IPTV, Video-on-demand and Video-conferencing are becoming main stream. These developments have paved the way for creating innovative concepts like session mobility for multimedia applications. Session mobility enables seamless transfer of an on-going multimedia session between different devices based on user preferences. We examine the motivations and use cases for session mobility. In this paper we evaluate architectural design constraints and propose architectural solutions for session mobility. We evaluate current session mobility mechanisms and propose requirements for new mechanisms. Sujeet Mate, Umesh Chandra, Igor D. D. Curcio |
