1988 Vishnu: an object-oriented database management system supporting software engineering
abstract
Vishnu is a distributed object-oriented database designed to support software engineering activities and application execution simultaneously. Its features include active objects, multiple inheritance, dynamic schemes, distribution, a comprehensive language, and persistence control. This design supports software engineering environments using only features inherent in the database and simultaneous application building and execution.>

1988 A multimedia front-end for an expert network management system
abstract
A multimedia natural-language interface for an expert network-management system is described. The different media discussed are speech, text, and graphics. An object-oriented, multimedia interaction language called Milan is used to describe the multimedia information. Application of the multimedia interface to a digital data services (DDS) network is illustrated. It is believed that such multimedia front ends will play a major role in the design of intelligent human-machine interfaces.>
