| 2016 | Interacting with Industrial Robots: A Motion-based InterfaceabstractCollaborative industrial robot cells are becoming more and more interesting for industry through the new Industrie 4.0 initiative. In this paper we report early work on motion-based interaction with industrial robots. Human motion is tracked by a Kinect camera and translated into robot code. A group of tests subjects are asked to interact with the system and their activities are observed. Lessons learned on interaction challenges in a robot cell are reported. | 2014 | Human and robot interaction based on safety zones in a shared work environmentabstractIn this paper, early work on how to implement flexible safety zones is presented. In the case study an industrial robot cell emulates the environment at a wall construction site, with a robot performing nailing routines. Tests are performed with humans entering the safety zones of a SafetyEye system. The zone violation is detected, and new warning zones initiated. The robot retracts but continues its work tasks with reduced speed and within a safe distance of the human operator. Interaction is achieved through simultaneous work on the same work piece and the warning zones can be initiated and adjusted in a flexible way. | 2010 | A multi-layered aesthetical web-portal interface for governmental integration issuesabstractThe County Administrative Board, a governmental authority in The West Region of Sweden, has in collaboration with the local Counties asked us for advice in presenting information in an official and simple way on the web for the foreign person or refugee, just arrived in Sweden. Administrator officers and social workers are taking part in their introduction. In this paper, we describe our investigation and study in how to present a web design for a "newcomer" in Sweden through a multi-Layered design concept, a kind of design which will interact with each person"s needs. In this multipurpose concept and portal, it has been important to consider aesthetical values, layout and graphic design. It has also been important to design a layout that provides different users with different contents. Linn Gustavsson Christiernin, Anneli Martin |

| 2010 | Guiding the designer: A radar diagram process for applications with multiple layersabstractFocusing flexibility and experience development, multi-layered design (MLD) separates the applications’ graphical user interface into several layers based on the users’ abilities, skills and levels of experience. The layer arrangement needs to be organized differently depending on the individual users. Until now design has been performed on a case-to-case basis and there has been no given process to achieve layered structures. This paper presents a radar diagram process for multiple layers (RDPM) that provides a way to map and visualize user parameters, identify user groups and then find mapping functions that can guide the final layered structure. The focus of RDPM is to identify the number of layers and the appropriate arrangement and contents of the layers. Two practical case studies are also presented to show how to apply the process on real user data. Both cases were successful and gave adequate support for how the process could be used. We conclude that RDPM is a viable support process to MLD and other layered arrangements, and that it is ready to be further tuned and tested on a larger scale. Linn Gustavsson Christiernin |

| 2006 | iLayer: MLD in an operating system interfaceabstractIn this paper we try to solve the challenge of implementing Multi-Layered Design (MLD) at a system level. A fully implemented prototype is presented where a MLD interface is created in Mac OS X. Earlier studies on the MLD concept have been performed on desktop applications or web-systems, but this study is the first made on an operating system. To handle MLD in large applications with versified users groups and changing conditions over time, we created an administrative tool where the layer structure can be manipulated and the contents changed.
